I've had this song in the back of my head for probably the majority of my life and finally got the motivation to look it up. Thank you Tom and Jerry
lol- Thanks
Same, lol. Where'd I learn this? Must have been taught in elementary school.
Or in reading others' comments, perhaps I learned it from piano lessons.
@@kathleenguerry9934 I learned it in elem school. Didn't know what it was about I didn't know Alouette meant little lark. Alouettes were a brand of snowmobile when I was a kid and saw their ads on tv.
Genuinely, me too.....I will quite literally sing it out loud for no reason. I looked it up because of a TV show called 'Evil' - which has a bunch of songs throughout every season that are a bit obscure and always seemed like I'm the only person I know that actually liked them. Including this one. I had to stop that particular episode just now to learn more about it for the first time.
I'm here because I'm making a French omelette and wanted to feel fancy
lol thanks
du fromage?
@@xrik7865 no other way ❤️
LMFAO
And got a song about plucking a bird’s feathers.
I just heard this song from Tom and Jerry and I am happy that I found this song. 😊 Thanks!
You’re welcome. They must play that episode frequently because a lot of visitors come from there
Finally someone who shares my background
I got it from Liv and Maddie
I find myself randomly singing it and I wanted to know what the name of the song was but I also heard it from Tom and Jerry 🤧
Nibbles is the best character hes so cute esp when he speaks his lil french
I’ve searched years for this song, my grandma passed away 2 years ago. She would sing this to me and my siblings before bed all the time, I was so young I couldn’t exactly remember the song. Thank you for having this here
Awe- thanks and you’re very welcome ❤️
I used to sing this ti my daughter this exact video to calm her down it sometimes was the only thing to calm her down, she passed at 8m old in February. I keep coming back here.
Isn't this about plucking the feathers off a bird?
Why is this a children's song?
Yes and I don’t know why it’s taught to children. Same with Ring around the Rosie and some other songs
SZABO MUSIC Especially ring around the Rosie
@@user-ci7ll3ir8f what's bad about that song
XxShadowWolfxX YT ASHES ASHES WE ALL FALL DOWN DEATH?!?!
XxShadowWolfxX YT :p
Oh, it’s actually *in* French! I always though it went:
“All wet, you got it all wet. All wet, a jaunty new beret!”
Never understood what was the big fuss over a soaked hat!
lol! Thanks
😂😂😂😂😂
😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this comment has me in tears after spitting out my drink first… nostrils and all🤣🤣🤣
I’m here because my grandma died a year ago and I really missed her today and she sung this all the time. Thank you for posting.
You’re very welcome
You do know the lyrics of the song in english right, it's kind of gruesome.
My mom sung this to me when she was taking French courses ( rip by the way)
my grandpa sung this for me 💛 i’m very sorry for your loss
Coming back to this song after learning it in French class years ago. One of the few things I still remember
Me too lol
I'm here cuz I remember this song from third grade music class
Welcome
lol same
lol
Me too. I was only able to remember the the 1st verse, glad I found it. Yet I still have no clue what it means.
@@johannaaguirre8263 It means basically plucking the feathers off a lark 🐦
I'm 21 and I still sing this to myself when I go to bed. it's such an amazing song and the few that stuck with me throughout my childhood and teen years
Nice. Thanks
Are u a psycho killer? Amazing? It's about plucking out feathers of a damn bird!!!
Same here!❤
Isn't it about plucking a larks feathers
Yes
My mom taught me this song when I was a little girl. That was thirty years ago. For some reason it popped into my head the other day and I wanted so badly to find it, so thank u for posting this!😊
Nice! You’re welcome
@@SZABOMUSIC ❤️😊
Same 💐🥲🖤
Did it make you feel _Alouette_ afterwards?😏
years later i realise how fu**ed up this song was when i was like 6 singing this in year 2
I've been singing this song constantly and I never knew the English pronunciation .. wow that's pretty messed up.
@@aslqey Check out the renditions of Song of Sixpence and Five Little Monkeys from AIOTM here on YT. Them you will really know what’s messed up!
This song is apparantly very good for curing writer's block.
Really?
Did you get that from evil?
Hoping they eventually release the t.v. version they used online somewhere.
a true EVIL enjoyer i see
😂😂😂😂
My mom was humming this for the past week and I finally just started playing it to get it out of her head. Thank you
lol. You’re welcome lollipop
this song is such a comfort song for me. i don't remember the woman that taught it to me very well but she was lovely. as someone born and raised in the US with an english-speaking family it's kind of a strange feeling hearing this so much later in life. ("so much later" as if i'm even an adult yet.)
lets just ignore that it's about plucking feathers off a bird-
I was taught this when I was in grade 1 in school and I did not even know I was singing a French song all these years~
lol
This just waved a tsunami of 2nd grade French class nostalgia over me
I don't know how I remembered or learned this song but I randomly just started singing it just now. I need to ask my parents some questions 😂
Lol
Well I don't know how I learned the lyrics to Bohemian!! Rhapsody!!
this is actually a song that a lot of Canadian children learn at a young age because of a vast majority speak English and French in Canada, think of this song as a "heads shoulders knee's and toes" for Canadian children.
Interesting. Thanks. Are you Canadian?
@@SZABOMUSIC not exactly, i moved to canda for 4 months when i was 5 or 6.
English-French bilingualism in Canada is at 18% (and about 59% in the province of Quebec). Hardly a “vast majority”
@gaoda1581 thanks
I searched up this song because my mom used to sing it every night when we went to bed. Pretty happy my piano lessons bring back the memories!
Beautiful. Thanks for watching my video and commenting
Learned this in my French class... well I guess that’s one way to teach kids about birds...
Yes lol
My dad used this song as the tune of a lullaby he sang to me when I was a little girl. I never knew it was a real song until I did piano and found this song in the book. Such a sweet children's song.
Nice
the fact that i have this song completely memorized is one of my only party tricks
lol!
Sing it Keely!!!
This came in my head after thinking of primary school French and wanted to see if I was crazy or not
lol. Are you?
No primary school french and learning this was the best
I was stuck on an assignment. I now typed 650 words in 10 minutes! Thanks
How did I help??
@@SZABOMUSIC I think it's a reference to Evil, where it's used to summon a demon to write for you
Oh thanks
I don't know where I heard this song first but I think my mum sang it to me when I was a wee lil kid. I've been humming it for years and recently asked her if she recognized it, after about ten seconds she started singing the lyrics. This is a really good version!
Thanks
For some reason this song popped into my head! My dad who knows 5 languages, among them French, used to sing this to us when we were kids. The last time he sang it, that I remember, was about 15 years ago, when he sang it to my daughter. She was amazed that he knew French as she was only about 7 and only spoke English at the time. I think we’re going to learn it and sing it to him for his birthday next year. He loves singing and this will surprise him, especially if I can get the whole family in on it. This and La Marseillaise would make him so happy because that is the other song he loves to sing in French.
That sounds wonderful! Good luck!
I have not heard this song since we had to learn it back in elementary school. What memories this brought rushing back. Wonderful memories! ❤
❤️
Ive been singing this song for years and I have no clue how I know it
+SparrowHunter you probably learned it in elementary school and or heard it on tv
Probably from that tom n jerry episode the 2 musketeers or something
Same- I have no idea
Perfect
same
Caught this song in a video and couldn't get it out of my head. Now I'm learning it cuz it's easy on my throat and doesn't require the ability to breath through my nose. My allergies are going crazy and this is a fun distraction.
Great! Have fun! Thanks
Leland Townsend recommend this to me.
Who’s that?
@@SZABOMUSIC oh hey just bein silly. It’s a character on the new paramount show Evil. He uses this song in the current season let’s just say….
Oh thanks
J’ai encore cette chanson pris dans ma tête chaque jour, depuis que j’étais jeune. Merci pour le partager.
lol. You’re very welcome
I remember this song in primary school lol
It’s stuck in my head now
lol. Thanks Luke
I'm from Chandernagore the last french colony in India so in our schools french is taught and listing to this song nostalgia hits me as I passed out school🙂😔
👌
I just realised that the whole song was about threatening bodily harm to a bird in a happy kid friendly manner...
*Cool* 👍🇫🇷
lol- yes it’s ridiculous
Evil Series brought me 😁
Welcome
I’m here because I am reading Julia Child’s book “My Life in Paris”. I remember this song from my childhood which inspired me to take French lessons in high school through college. I was lucky enough to have traveled to Paris in my youth. Just love this song.
Thanks- how nice! Is the book any good?
@@SZABOMUSIC Yes! The book is fabulous. I love the stories about her post WW2 life. The title is “MY LIFE IN FRANCE”. Since I have more time on my hand I figured this is a good to learn from the best. eBay has the best prices.
Thanks. There’s a Netflix series called Emily in Paris that’s fun
i don't know why but i find this song really calming and im going to try and memorize it!
Good luck. I can’t
@@SZABOMUSIC ah really? if i listen to a song enough it'll be auto memorized- I've listened to it around 3-5ish times? and I've caught myself mindlessly singing parts :D
Keeping the words in order is challenging
This is a song we're studying in one of my homeschool books! My mom already knew most of the words though.😁
I learned this in the third grade about 13 years ago and I remembered up to "la tête" haha thanks for posting with lyrics! What a throw back! :)
❤️
I sang this song in my earlier years in chorus. It came to mind tonight. Google is everything! I’m singing & laughing.
Wonderful lol. Thanks
I am a Filipino who would have thought I remembered that this French Song was taught during my kindergarten years and yet we're not trying to speak French but Tagalog and English is being taught to us during my kindergarten years.
I was taught this in elementary school and just had a flash back of this song ❤
Welcome back!
I remembered I was taught this song during my kindergarten years and never thought it was this long.
Maybe they taught you a short version.
I had a distant memory of my mom singing this to me when I was like 5, and now I’m here
pov: you only came here for the tom and jerry episode
J'adore cette chanson! c'est tellement amusant de chanter
merci
I’m here because I heard this song in Evil lmaoo
I hear because I woke up with this song in my head. It's odd because I don't know this song, but my husband does. He was made to learn it in French class.
This song seems to haunt many people like that
This just popped up in my head for no reason. Other people are saying they remembered about it from Tom and Jerry, but I did not. Idk how I even know about this song.
Elementary school? Movie?
The first time I heard this song was from my mom when I was probably around 3-5 years old. She used to study in Holland and she would travel throughout europe in her free time, and she told me that a friend of her taught her this song
Thanks
My grandma used to sing French songs to be before I went to bed, this was one of them
How wonderful. Thanks
ah the good ole days, where we all sang this while playing on the playground!
Yes wee
I am here cuz I can't get the song out of my head from my early childhood a simple melodic. Song for me to learn for my introduction to. Piano and music.
All major scale. Melody
Thanks
I learnt Alouette when I was 8 years old in 1980 from the IJ nuns ( nuns of the Infant Jesus order and Catholic nuns from the order of the French missionaries in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) . Only if you study in Catholic schools you will learn such songs as kids.I don't take Alouette as a bad song because where you really need to eat chicken for example....you still need to slaughter it like the lark in Alouette. Also that I love the tune of the song.I now have 2 lovely French penpals since the 1980's till today. Thanks for this video.
Thanks and you’re very welcome
I’m learning this song on my piano so I’m using this video as reference because I don’t exactly remember the tempo, im glad my piano teacher is making me play this 🫶
Nice. Thanks for watching my video!
I used to love this song when I was little, learned the proper words in French class, and now I'm relearning it to sing to my friends kids.
Welcome back ❤️
Evil brought me here..song pretty good hehe
Thanks. I guess some good comes of Evil?
hehe
The pronounciation kills me
You’re right. Thanks

Especially the gentille and the plumerai😂
I had a difficult time with pronunciation in French class. Sorry 😐
@@SZABOMUSIC It's okay ☺☺
Lol i was thinking the same but its ok
When I was in elementary school in Quebec we used to sing this song A Lot in our Elementary classes of learning French. We knew what was it about but we didn't take it seriously-
I've been singing this off and on since a little girl for some reason. I think I heard it in our schools variety show back in the 1970's.
A lot of elementary teachers use to teach it to their students to introduce them to French
Before my mother passed away I remember when I was a child my mother sang this song for me when I struggled to sleep, It is a beautiful song and I use it to sleep every night.
❤️
Apparently this can summon a demon. Evil season 3.
Uh oh

Little bunny fufu hopping through the forest, picking up the field mice and boppin em on the head.
OMG- I never realized this was the same melody
Thanks
I watched this right after a little bunny foo foo video because I'm delving into childhood memories and your comment gave me whiplash. Never noticed they were the same melody.
I’m here because I’m reading Carl Jung “Man and his Symbols” and a section on childhood song recollection reminded me of this song.
Jung- interesting to read
I sing this on stage and I loved it
❤️
My boy sings this.. I found out in Tom and Jerry musketeers.. N now I m here...
Welcome Marina!
I sometimes remember this song, but i know zero french so i’m left googling things until i find this video. I don’t know how i know this song, or how i came to find this video first but i remember humming this when i was really young. Neither of my parents know french and they were never interested in any songs like this.
A lot of elementary teachers would teach this song plus it’s in some old cartoons like Tom and Jerry
DUDE SAME WTF
I came here because of memories, back when I listened to this song every day back in 2012-2015 :) I still remember this song till this day

Congratulations and glad you found my video. Thanks
A summer school teacher taught us this song in like 3rd grade now I show my granddaughter this video everyday don't know what it means and don't care cool song
Thanks
This song isn’t exactly a children’s song. It is a song the Voyageurs working for the Hudson Bay company, and the Northwest Trading company during the Fur Trade in North America would sing while canoeing furs down rivers. It was meant to keep an easy rowing beat and pass the time when you are spending 14 hours a day hauling 180 pounds of fur yourself to the next post or fort. It is taught in French class in Canada to help keep our French Canadian heritage and is taught elsewhere as a learning tool for French learners.
Thanks- I never knew that. Are you Canadian?
@@SZABOMUSIC yes
Thanks
@@CRACKBONE7317 I only know this because I took French immersion. Anyone who took English only would have no clue…

After so many years of searching I hav finally found you Alouette
So many people say that- is it the spelling that makes it hard to find?
Heard this on Evil season 3, episode 7. Creepy af.

My Cajun mother sung this to me as a child. It's the only French she passed along, so i've learned some French on my own so i can pass on what's left of our culture and strengthen it (i also cook Cajun and learned the dialects)

My bus driver in pre school use to sing this song back in 2009
lol- I’m actually a school bus driver!
I learned this song when I was in the sixth grade. My teacher, miss Jones spoke French and taught us this song.

When you realize this talks about ripping a little bird apart:😃
Yes it’s horrible
It’s horrible but it’s taught to kids to learn different parts of the body (in French). At least that’s what I was taught in school (I live in Canada). We learned French from the first grade
Isn’t it about plucking the feathers off the bird and not ripping it apart?
