Tonight's concert programme 🎻: I - Sey-chan's Medieval Adventures Sey-chan steps through the staircase and arrives at the first window before her: she sees a magnificent sight of shops bartering away, soldiers on horseback, and commoners bustling about on their way to start the day. "I've done it! It worked!" Sey-chan exclaimed as she pushes open a rickety door; an escapade awaits for the time traveler that was determined to learn about the ancestors of long ago in the Kingdom of Aracyes. Suddenly a procession of royalty passes by the townspeople and all is treated to a visual feast of vivacious performers in colorful costumes and exquisitely decorated carriages accompanied by the sounds of trumpets and drums. II - Dance of the Peasant Girls As she journeys past the busy commotion of the town, Sey-chan arrives at the rustic farmlands where green and blue go far beyond the eye can see. Sitting down on a tree stump covered by glistening moss, she notices in the distance a group of peasant girls harvesting crops in the field; they would take turns to work, while also playing silly but endearing games of pretend with their fake cries and laughter filling the air. Sey-chan even notices some of the girls practicing a charming dance accompanied by elegant motions and the ocassional mistake. She takes a ripe Cara berry hanging in the bush next to her and chews at it slowly, appreciating the simple and happy scene that she is privileged to witness. III - Sey-chan's Serenade As the day draws short and evening light covers the sky, Sey-chan remembers that folk tales would often say that there were two suns in the ancient days where one would set before the other. She looks into the horizon to see two fiery balls of orange and magenta slowly descending past the mountains afar. While the first sun bowed out gracefully leaving a soft glow in its wake, the second sun erupted a brilliant shine of aurum, igniting the clouds, birds, and trees into a fantastic halo of color. Then, as quickly as it came, the ephemeral golden shine waned until only a deep blue twilight remained. With stars sparkling above her, Sey-chan then laid down onto to a field of long bladed grass and quickly drifted away into dreams. IV - War Dance of the Peasant Boys Suddenly awoken by the sound of a distant drum, Sey-chan rose from her slumber in the early morning to see a group of peasant boys in an empty field where crop once was in years past. They were half dressed in red, half dressed in blue while one was playing a fast, war-like rhythm on a large wooden instrument hanging around his shoulders. Soon a vigorous battle of timber swords and shields erupted; both sides were taking heavy casualties as the boys fell in a dramatic feigned crumple after being struck by an opponent's weapon, only to giggle after laying still for not yet ten seconds. They would then get up and run eagerly back to their side of the battle to restart all over again. Even from a distance, it was clear that the children were enjoying everything immensely, whether they had permission to actually be there or not. As the front line pushed back and forth with countless warriors lost over the hours, the red side eventually emerged victorious. As the soldiers kneeled before their lieutenant who delivered a victory speech frequently interjected by surrounding guffaws, the boys in red cheered in celebration over their triumph today. I imagine myself being an adventurer, returning to a kingdom named Aldo, roaming around, looking at the scenery and the architecture while admiring the people going about their daily lives. And as noon comes, I head to the guild to search some equipment and such with the joyous and noisy atmosphere inside, echoing about the entire building; adventurers taking in quests, buying swords and potions, having a chat, and drinking away.
This is a brilliant masterpiece, I absolutely loved every bit of it. I have to say that the IV Mov was my favorite, the timpani parts are so enjoyable, the xylophone and brass combination is so sweet, the use of drums is perfectly balanced, not too overpowered, and not too weak, the ryhthmic section is well-written, so many percussion colors (tambourines, triangles, cymbals, etc). Congrats Seycara!

The way this EP is composed/sounds is just like a real suite! (Mostly reminds me of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, Mussorgsky's/Ravel's Pictures at an Exhibition, and Stravinsky's The Firebird) Each different piece of music really tells a story, and when I read what's suppose to happen in each scene, I can actually imagine it. This is an amazing masterpiece, Seycara! 💖😄
Sey-chan’s Serenade might be one of my favorite pieces you’ve ever made. The melody is just so beautiful and the orchestration is so elegant. You have quickly become one of my favorite composers and a big insipiration for me. Thank you!

Not to ruin anyone's vibe, but the first half of the first movement actually sounds more Baroque or Rococo (especially Lully and Handel) rather than medieval, while the rest sounds quite modern, even Debussy- or Messiaen-like. Or maybe I'm just a nerd. (Not saying that I don't like it -- quite the opposite, in fact -- but none of it sounds particularly medieval. It actually evoked some really steampunk imagery in my head since the late 19th-/early 20th-century vibes are so strong.)
I wish someone could animate this song into the story it tells. A young girl travelling to a kingdom discovering different things and making new experiences. I dont have the time to type out the journey this song sent me in my mind but i think everyone had somewhat of a similar imagination
Sey-chan, thank you for working so hard to bless us with another masterwork so soon. Your work never loses its heartwarming touch. No idea how many times I've shed a tear while listening to them. I hope you keep up the incredible work and find more success as soon as possible.
