I had quite a laugh when Ashton was trying to figure out "Ah sure I will in me hole" and he said something about "Sad Hole" which I remember as his pronunciation of an Irish name (Sadhbh, if I recall) at some point. Haven't had a good laugh like that in a while.
For the record, I did figure that one out and it makes perfect sense to me as sarcasm. I love these videos. I hope to make the trip to Ireland that I was planning pre-C-19 soon. Maybe next summer!

12 years living in England and I still got people who just love hearing Irish phases
Craic is 90 and sucking diesel are my common sayings
Although I’m from Co. Armagh it does shock people what I speak ‘mother’ it’s ma 😂😂

We use a version of 'awful' to mean 'very' in the North East of Scotland, in Doric (our local dialect). It's possibly used in other parts of Scotland too. We'd say 'At's affa dear' (that's very expensive). 'At's gye dear' (that's quite expensive) and 'At's ower dear' (that's too expensive).

I am sorry I missed the premiere, but I did enjoy the video nonetheless. Not only was it informative to learn Irish phrases and what they mean, but it was filled with plenty of laughter as well...#AhSureIWillInMeHole #IrishVsAmerican #SubToAmyMcDonaghGuitar

I'm a little surprised that Ashton has never heard the term "gobsmacked" for when someone is describing being shocked speechless. The term "gob" for your mouth is common in English slang.

Omg finally i’m early and i love these videos with Ashton sorry if i spelled the name wrong.
Me and my friend who is from the US have started doing this too since i’m from Finland we started comparing words like ”Dragon” which in finnish is ”lohikäärme” but what we do is literally translate the finnish words and suddenly ”lohikäärme” becomes ”Salmon snake” Lohi = Salmon and Käärme = Snake and it’s absolutely hilarious

I paused the video before I forget. First let me say I’m so glad this “series” is back. You’re both great and I love learning these phrases. Anyway. A “come on” can be a noun (at least where I’m from.) It just has nothing to do with the frustrated wat you might use it when talking to an obtuse friend or a parent who won’t let you get your way. It is basically a pick up line.

I’ve also heard gas to mean funny but in the construction “a gas.” She’s a gas. It was a gas.

You should include Donegal sayings and sayings in the North West, it might help some people that don’t know what certain sayings in ‘Derry Girls’ to understand what they’re saying, such as “aye”, “how’s she cutting”, “well”, “catch yourself on”. There’s more just my mind went blank. These videos are great though I love them

So question, is that what the lyrics mean then. Fun? "Jumpin Jack Flash its a gas gas gas?" because i always loved the song (And the movie! ♥ )but never really understood that part haha thanks for a fun video! needed the giggle ♥

Americans definitely say gob in reference to mouth but it's an older turn of phrase/ regionalism
Gob (also glob) in the US could also mean a large amount of something like gobs of guacamole.
Actually where I live now "a gob" is synonymous with "whoopie pie" which is a handheld dessert made with two small (chocolate) cakes and (vanilla) cream in the middle.
