    We’re gonna look back at this Ferrari situation from 2018-2020 for a really long time. It really is unbelievable how quickly things turned from being Seb’s team, to Seb being pushed out and disrespected by Ferrari in just 2 years. All because Leclerc was developing way faster than anyone thought he would

    • @terkmadugga
      @terkmadugga 2 года назад +83

      I think 'disrespecting' is a bit harsh. Fact is, Seb was just seriously dropping the ball week in and week out. Along comes a kid with just one year's worth of experience, and completely outperforms Seb. If you were heading up Ferrari, what would you do? Ferrari even talked up Seb's no. 1 status in the team before 2019 started before it became apparent that it was just silly to keep pretending that was the case.

    • @cody95
      @cody95 2 года назад +18

      @@terkmadugga if I were Ferrari I wouldn’t fire him before the 2020 season even started and pretend as if it was them mutually parting ways. That whole season became a wash for Vettel because of it. Rather than trying to help Sebastian through the transition of adding Charles to the team they played favorites and Seb crumbled under the pressure of working in that environment, and I don’t blame him.
      Edit: I also think a lot of people really over exaggerate how badly Charles beat Seb in 2019. Yes, he was better than him, but it wasn’t as big of a difference as Seb beating Kimi the previous year

    • @blaine319
      @blaine319 2 года назад +11

      @@terkmadugga I agree fully with everyone I just think when people say “disrespect” from Ferrari they mean the way Ferrari handled the entire situation, lying to the public about contract talks, the jabs at seb (this is why he was so petty about it) and just overall not seeming to care throughout the season for both drivers in terms of strategy and decision making. despite all this he still had the respect for Ferrari and sang them a whole farewell song.

    • @terkmadugga
      @terkmadugga 2 года назад +23

      @@cody95 youve got to remember, the start of 2020 was delayed because of covid, and it was probably better for Vettel in that he had the whole of the season to get his AM seat. Imagine if Ferrari told him they wouldn't extend his contract towards the end of the season - vettel might very well have retired. Fact is, Ferrari looked like the bad guys, but they did exactly what any rational team would do, and look to the future. Vettel really was exceptionally poor in 2019. I'm not just talking about the lack of pace, but the silly rookie spins is not what you'd expect to be paying a 4x world champion to do. It was probably better for both parties to be honest.
      Regarding 2019, I really don't think people exaggerate Leclerc's performances Vs Vettel. Vettel definitely had strong drives, but I think his highs weren't as high as leclerc, and leclerc made far fewer mistakes. Toward the end of 2018, Kimi was arguably the stronger driver once it was announced he was leaving the team.

    • @blaine319
      @blaine319 2 года назад +1

      @nameless agreed as seb being my favorite driver. he does have this weird mindset where he always thinks he's the #1 even when he isn't. but i do get where he is coming from in ferrari, considering he was trying to bring them to the top and such, and yeah the errors were beyond unacceptable for someone like him. i do believe it has to do with the newer hybrid cars as he didn't do these mistakes in the v8 era but who knows? still shouldn't happen.
      and yeah i can agree it goes both ways.

    He's been my favorite driver since F2. I remember watching that season I was always looking at the timing tower looking where Charles was and watching his times. That end of the season was absolutely insane, my favorite moment was in Brazil when he was gonna get knocked out in Q2 and it started raining at the end. 12th would've been very good anyway for a Sauber but he tried again and magically found time on a dampening track on slicks and somehow got into Q3. Then the next race at Abu Dhabi he couldn't wait to start fighting with the big boys so he got a great start and was actually keeping one of them behind. Then two races later in Bahrain, now at Ferrari, would've dominated his first F1 victory if not for a mechanical issue that dropped him to third. More wins and poles the Vettel in his first year at Ferrari showed signing him was no mistake, and I can't wait to see him in a title fight if Ferrari can find something in the new regs
