My grandparents still wear this regularly. We Hindus wear it seldom now like in pujas or festivals, it's female counterpart is Saree. Sarees and Dhotis are the oldest cultural clothing used continuously in the world, for the last 6000years atleast. Here, It's a Saree used as a Dhoti.

In the innermost parts of the island women were still topless well into the 1900s, to the point that my still alive FIL has seen them. I love seeing similarities in such different cultures!
If you ever wear a dhoti you will find out that it is not like pyjamas or jeans like stiched at the center or close at the centre. It is open there , so that is how men use washrooms while wearing dhotis. Also it is draped in a way that it hides the part with actually trapping it inside the cloth.

@Ula по-маленькому легко. Во-первых, шорты надеты для видео. Во-вторых, ткань никак не перекрывает доступ к телу спереди, если раздвинуть все эти складки, легко доберешься до тела. Но вот не знаю легко ли добраться до другой (задней) части?🤔 Возможно, там так же легко подобраться. В голове мне сложно представить конфигурацию всех этих складок.

I don't think you realize how excited I got watching this. Not the dude. I love Sarees. I love the look and the feel and the versatility. I've always wanted to buy one for myself but I've been first trying to do as much research as I can so I wear it properly and know any potential meanings any might have though I'll likely stick with a casual or modern glam saree when I do finally get one. I bought genie pants at a Middle Eastern market in Los Angeles, but you could also buy them online. I've also made genie pants, but now I want to wear a dhoti.
