Houston Christian's Jalyx Hunt, a recent transfer from Cornell, showed promising versatility and athleticism as an EDGE rusher in 2023. He recorded 46 tackles, 9 TFL, and 6.5 sacks over 10 games. Hunt's size (6-3 3/4, 252 lbs) and athleticism make him a sleeper prospect with potential value in special teams and possibly as an off-ball LB. His rawness at the position suggests a developmental path.

Eagles hit the lottery with Mailiata; didn't know football, never played, was horrible his first few attempts...now one of the best in the NFL. I like the pick for potential... the kid's literally a blank slate with tools. Just needs someone to train him up.

After this season, you can let Slay and Bradberry go and you have Mitchell, DeJean and Ringo in place to fight over those starting roles who each have at LEAST one season studying under those vets. And you have CJGJ, Reed, and Brown at safety. And you have Maddox, Rodgers, Jobe, and McPhearson fighting for that nickel spot. AND that’s without adding anyone through free agency or the draft. That’s a CHEAP and YOUNG secondary for multiple years

Hunt was rated higher than Trotter Jr especially after how he performed at the senior bowl. He was projected as early as 50 and as late as 80.

Hunt is a Vic Fangio pick all the way yo. He really wanted Hunt because of his upside freakish athletic traits for the potential to develop into an elite edge rusher in a couple of years. There was a ton of buzz about him today so his stock was rising and was projected to be drafted as high as in the mid to late 3rd round. Eagles draft room jumped on it so they could rest easy tonight to start fresh for tomorrow knowing they got the guy they wanted before someone else did. 👍🦅💚

This was a waste of a 3rd round pick. If this was a 6th or 7th round pick. Then awesome. But there were guys still on the board who could at least compete to play meaningful snaps. Not a guy who might not even play, ever.

Nolan smith in the first was a reach with porter jr on the board. Trotter jr is just a name. He’s not sr and will be more of a project than hunt. Our dc need edge players that can cover to disguise his pass rush. That’s why reddick wasn’t a priority. Hunt used to play safety so give him a year or 2 and you have a tj watt type of olb

I don’t know much about the kid but every single draft expert has really spoke highly of the pick. Like a lot of draft experts really been saying in a year or 2 he could be the steal of the draft. Just trusting Howie at this point

I like Cooper Dejean but I think we should have kept picks 50 and 53 we draft cooper because we’re peparing from Bradbury and slay in the future or is brown not ready to go and if he is ready who are we moving on from we had are pick of the litter in the 1 round we have ringo,rodgers,ricks,Maddox’s,slay at CB at safety we have CGJ , Reed B, Sydney Brown we need at LB if Steen is not ready or if Lane Johnson does retire we could have use OL to develop but I’m no coach and I’m no scout what do I know.

What if we do REALLY well this year and we don’t pick until the end of the draft and next year happens to be a mid tackle class but a great class at another position? Or what if things fall apart and we end up picking towards the top of the draft and Jalen Hurts gets hurt or wants a trade. What if an elite young tackle hits free agency or demands a trade and we go that route? I’m saying there are a million things that could happen between now and then that could warrant us going a different direction.
Not with stoutland there. We can get OG/OT in the 4th or 5th this year and coach em up.

Hunt was projected somewhere in that range, maybe a bit earlier depending on who you ask. Some Eagles fans just think 'player I do not know anything about' = 'bad', and that's not necessarily the case.

How we've done a great job? This off-season with free agents and the first 2 rounds in the draft. But he can't help himself. Kenny draft in a project and third round is not gonna play or help. Our defense or offense in the third round is a wasted Pi. Ck, I don't understand he's a project. We couldn't got him in the fifth fourth or fits around. I don't understand this pick.
