Hi, Elena. I also like visiting parks when I travel to a new city. Yekaterinburg looks like a fun place to visit. I also like visiting cities like Yekaterinburg that have a lot of culture and things to do, but aren't the very biggest city or capital city of the country. Sometimes I find them more relaxing.
Looks like a very pleasant town, and what a great time of year to visit. The parks and gardens were brilliant. I wonder, though, how common sunny days like that are in the fall.

A few years ago, there used to be a direct train from several cities in Poland to Moscow and St. Petersburg. There were direct flights to several cities in Russia as well. Now, the journey is very difficult. My mom's friend is a Russian woman who married a Pole and has been living in Poland for over thirty years. She mentioned that when she visited her family a year ago, it was quite unpleasant. People treated her strangely and with suspicion when they heard her speaking with a slightly different accent. She was summoned to the police and questioned for several hours. She said that a few years ago, such a thing did not happen. As a tourist, I am only interested in the culture and architecture of Russia. It is extraordinary and largely different from what we have in Poland.@@elenastravels

Климат всяко лучше, серого неба в избытке, но нет такого количества осадков и ветров, принизывающих до костей. Из плюсов жизни в центре города: много ресторанов хорошего уровня, дешевое такси (самый компактный миллионник), неплохая архитектура. Из минусов: грязновато (но ситуацию пытаются изменить), серое небо, зимой бывает много снега. Ну и люди: с одной стороны гордые и с чувством собственного достоинства, смелые. «Город бесов» по-Соловьеву или city of the brave, как ответ. С другой стороны они прямые в общении, из-за чего у приехавших иногда случается культурный шок. Мне как то представители одного завода из Казани (в ходе их визита в наш город) сказали: ну вы, ребята и жесткие, мы проехали всю страну и нигде не получили столько прямого и жесткого фидбэка прямо в глаза, сколько в Екатеринбурге.

Mine was two with something million rubels four years ago, fifteen minutes to center by buss about half an hour of fast walking, lots of stores 3 kindergartens and two schools within five minute walk. Sadly metro is stagnated on only one line but eh, good enough. Only minus is heating is more expensive in winter than in new housing, but I'm living with my cousin so we share the bills.
From what I had imagined, this city looks completely different. I thought it'd be a dirty third world country full of drunk, homeless people with commie flags but it's quite beautiful. Maybe I'd come to visit Russia in the future.

Can somebody pls explain me why Russians still have Sverdlovskaya oblast ,but capital Jekatěrinburg ,..same as Leninskaya Oblast with capital Petrograd ? Svetdlov was bloody Bolshevik ,and Lenin Ulyanov killed tens of million people in mother Russia.......I don't get it ....Zjuganov and KPCC still alive ? Demagog Zhirinovsky is dead ....I know there is never really been decommunization ,but it sound wierd
History is not just black&white, my friend. You may have your own negative view on Bolsheviks, while thousands of people in Russia see them in a positive way. So don't expect everything to be just like you want it, leave some place for other people's opinion too. This is called pluralism and freedom of thought, I suppose?.. 😉

Жила в Питере 8 лет и считаю, что Екатеринбург - достойная альтернатива 🙂 Но каждому свое, конечно.
