Followed you for few years and you have never failed to deliver. I really appreciate what you do. Please don't ever stop. Your delivery is informative and always concise and on point. I have never felt like i have to skip any of your content. Happy 150th
Was actually googling for hardware setups just today😲🤯 Did not really grow up playing piano. Played a bit of synth, but the sort of noises I made on it was generally frowned upon in the household. Also, discovered sex and recreational at an impressionable age. But! Got myself a piano teacher in my late 20s, and discovered Logic in my early 30s, and today I applied for a college course in sound and music production. Would like to score something before I die… Gonna be starting that course next year. I have a garage. I don’t have a car… Do have a fairly unused Touché… So really, what perfect timing on this video. Appreciate you🥰
Hi Daniel. Appreciate you too! Thanks for your story, which is fascinating. Good luck on that course and do remember that if it's scoring you're interested in, my courses on Teachable might be of help. 'Orchestral Programming 01' is out now and Part 2 is coming very, very soon. Link here if you'd like to take a look: jono-buchanan-music-s-school.teachable.com/ Thanks for your continued support.
Cheers Jono, Wednesday nights wouldn't be the same without your videos. Just got one of the M4's delivered yesterday, so am looking forward to taking logic for a good test drive, and i can finally try out those different mastering flavours and chroma glow. Anyway here's to the next 150 videos and to learning loads more about music production. Thanks again.
Congratulations, Jono,150 episodes! I thank you very very much for all your wonderful videos! I have learnt a lot watching these videos and every video from you I watch gives me much inspiration! It was wonderful to get a look in your studio with all this impressive gear! Thanks again!!
Cheers Jono and Will! What a great video. An enviable amount of gear you've got. Swine. Really looking forwards to what's ahead and to continue to learn. Cheers! 🍻
Hey JB, thank you for the rundown. Could you explain in more detail why you use the line mixer and not the individual inputs on the Apollo? Too few inputs or for better sound quality/ analog summing?
Hi Greg. Exactly that - I have two channels of the Apollo taken up with preamp signals from the Britstrip and the UA LA-610, which leaves only 6 from the synths, so I bought the Line Mixer as a simple way to have them all connected into a stereo pair of inputs. Thanks for your question.
Best videos on the net. Have you ever used any other DAW ? Do you ever notice in logic when you edit Audio parts on the fly it takes a second or so for the change to take place. I usually just stop and start the track again then the change takes place straight away. It does my head in. Any other DAW the audio changes straight away on the fly. It also happens when I change parameters on synths for example but not that often. Thanks
That's incredibly kind, thank you David. Yes, my understanding is that the way the original audio drivers for Logic were written - back in the day - the time it takes for an audio edit to correct or play back accurately is kind of 'baked in'. In other words, it would take a complete rewrite of the audio engine to make that not the case. (My apologies to Emagic and Apple if I've got that wrong). It is frustrating but, you're right, either pressing Stop, or looping a section and just kind of accepting that it won't be until the second time around that any audio edits will play back accurately is kind of just how it is. I must say I don't have that issue with Synths or Automation - all changes there are picked up on the fly. But the slight Audio edit/adjustment lag is real, no matter how capable the spec of your machine.
Thanks Jono.... looking forward to more content! Just updated my AMT 8 driver today from the Apple website... trying to fix Logic crashing on exit/saving (didn't work lol)
@@jonobuchananmusic The amt 8 is working fine but Logic crashes now and again on closing and is reporting a core midi problem so I was doing some driver house keeping which hasn't solved the crashing issue... thanks for the reply, all the best :-)
During covid I decided to go in-the-box and sold a lot of my outboard gear and synths. The Arturia V Collection really made this possible - 39 vintage keyboards that I could never afford to own. Why do still use those Moog synths instead of VSTs?
Hi Jeffy. A number of reasons, really. I like to change up my workflow and I definitely find that my headspace changes when I get up and go to one of the synths and have a play. I think hardware synths feel more like musical instruments (to me) than a computer ever will and so I just have a different relationship with them from a musical perspective. As I said in the video, a HUGE amount of my work does indeed happen in Logic with soft synths. But it's nice to have access to a different workflow and speed of work (ie slower!), from time to time.
Thanks Jono for sharing all your knowledge. Your content is incredibly helpful. Here's to Episode 200!
Thanks so much, Nicholas.
Thank you Jono
You're welcome! Thank you.

@ top man thank you !!!
Excellent, I wondered what your gear was, now I know 🙂. And the gear fetish is a sickness really ... but a good one 🤣
Ha! Not just me, then... ; )
Thank you for sharing your journey, very interesting.
You're welcome, thank you too.

Right?! But only the cow saving up for a Model D... ; )
It’s “Moog” 😂
Oh! Now that IS an unusual pronunciation... Phew, glad it's not just me. ; )
