Hi Brenda. Excellent tutorial as always. You where able to cover every technic in a way that is so easy to understand and apply. This is so helpful to get a good result in the final work and to make the work easier to do. Everything starts here, with the pattern. I also use the dashed lines. It works perfectly.
Hi Richy, thank you for the awesome comment. I totally agree with you that having a good pattern or guidelines to follow as you burn is essential. Have a great day!
Hi Billy, First off let me welcome you to the wonderful artform called pyrography. I hope that you'll enjoy it as much as I do. Pyrography is not a fast medium to work in, and, like all hobbies, it has a learning curve associated with it. I find it very enjoyable and relaxing. Mostly relaxing....sometimes I get frustrated, but those are the times I generally learning something new. :) Have a fantastic New Year!
Hi Brenda, thank you very much for your teachings that as always are unpayable.I have begun to test Photoshop's functions of finding edges as well as the use of layers and contrast control and at the moment it seems that it can greatly facilitate the work in those photographs with great complexity of shadows and lights. You don't always get a perfect pattern but it is a great help. Thanks again and I am waiting for you to upload a new video.
Hi Antolin, I have not used photoshop, but it does seem like it gives you a lot of control over the photos. Are you familiar with Richy Coelho's channel? I ask because he did two great videos on using photo editors. This link is his tutorial on Photoshop: ruclips.net/video/M_Cm2Q4cqcE/видео.html This link is for an app that lets you layer photos to create scenes: ruclips.net/video/QZjoqWBSJWw/видео.html Thank you very much for taking the time to comment! I really appreciate it. Have a wonderful weekend! Brenda
Pyrography Made Easy Hello Brenda, thanks for the information, I have watched the videos that you indicate and are really interesting, but I intend something else, I want Photoshop to generate both a sepia version (similar to the result in pyrography) and the pattern of lines I have to copy in the wood.I have allowed myself to send you a sample of the files generated so that you can appreciate my intention.Files are generated in very few clicks.Greetings and sorry for invading your e-mail. I have send it to PyrographyContest
Hi Antolin, thank you. I'll have to go look at what you're doing. By the way, I don't check the contest email often, so in the future use: PyrographyME@gmail.com
Hi Dennis, I've gotten lazy in my old age. There was a time where it would have been against my "ethics" to trace an image. :) I like the skeleton and how ornate the mask is. I'm not liking burning around all of that stuff as much I as liked looking at it though. :)
This is an excellent tutorial, a must watch if you wish to create for pyrography. Lots of video's claim to be tutorials but many are simply not, but your tutorials are the real deal Brenda. I noticed Davids christmas drawing in there also, looking for ward to seeing that video . The skeleton with top hat looks amazing, i hope you post a full video of that ? That's just the type of subject i love..I enjoyed watching this new video, i have one more of yours to watch this Sunday morning. Huge like from me Brenda QOP : )
Hi Davy, I've noticed there are a lot of people who think that showing themselves creating something is a tutorial, but I agree with you; it's not. I got David's drawing finished up this last week and shipped off to him today (had to let the lacquer cure properly before shipping). The video will be out this next Tuesday. David said he's going to wait to watch it until after the package arrives. I'm excited and super nervous to see what he will think of it. Thank you for the wonderful comment! Hope you had a great weekend.
Hi Jonny, the skull would make a great tattoo. If it's anything like wood burning, it would be time consuming to tattoo in. Interesting idea. It could be like a stencil, print it out and trace in the lines. Not sure I'd trust burning over it as I don't know what the transfer paper is made of.
Great video Brenda. It was good to see the first part of the process of you working on my postcard. I do quite like the idea of using a coloured pen but I'd agree that the fine line from your pencil would be better.
Hi David, your postcard was fun to burn in. I'm really looking forward to seeing your reaction and hoping you will really like how I interpreted your drawing.
how soft a graphite pencil should be used for covering the back of the pattern? Thanks for these tutorials, it's been quite a few years since I've done some burning and am anxious to get back to it. You're a refreshing refresher course. Thanks much
Hi Cathy, I normally use a B or 2B pencil. I'm not fond of the H series as they are too light and I tend to avoid anything higher than a 4B because they are so dark. Hope that helps.
...hi, sorry my english, I like your Tutorials. I am a beginner. I think if it possible to make a Foto copie from the picture, and then transver it...what you mean? Bruno from🇨🇭
Hi Marcy, great question and there are 2 reasons. 1 - habit. I'm old and it's the way I've done things for a long time. 2 - I've yet to find transfer paper I like. They are either too light to easily see or impossible to erase. So I quit wasting money trying to find a decent one, and I reverted back to my tried and true, never failed me yet method. :) Brenda
Hi Randy, thanks for the suggestion, but I've yet to find a brand I like. They are either too dark and hard to erase, contain wax, or so light that they are hard to see. I got tired of wasting my money trying to find a decent brand, so I stick with my tried and trued method that has never failed me.
INK ON THE WOOD ALSO? hmmm.... I use graphite POWDER on the back, alcohol on cotton ball smooths it out and also less powdery...smoother transfer for your own graphite transfer paper.
No. In this video I'm doing 2 things: 1) tracing an image. 2) making a pattern that can be scanned and printed out for future use. the inking happens when I'm finalizing the pattern.
i saw another redraw with soft pencil on the back and then flip back over to right side and gently use her thumbnail to run over the design and it transfers into the wood without making grooves in soft woods.
That sounds like it would be difficult to be precise. One I've read about more recently is using an embossing tool to gently trace over the lines. Haven't tried it, and probably won't as I have my method that works for me.
@@PyrographyMadeEasy I think so also. I've used your way for decades but we also made our own graphite paper or the back with powdered graphite and then swirling alcohol dipped cotton ball all over to smooth it out and evenly distribute the graphite, but a sheet of store-bought graphite paper goes a long way. I am also just concerned about grooves on SOFT wood in penciling the design on? AND HEY, i wanted to ask you about the sanding; some WET the wood after sanding and let it try to pull up the extra grain, making it smoother yet when they sand it a second time after those grains pop up. have you tried that for a smoother finish?
Salut Linda, Merci. Je suis content de savoir que les sous-titres sont utiles. J'utilise google translate, donc j'espère qu'ils sont exacts. Merci encore pour le commentaire! Brenda

Hi Tejaa, thanks for the comment
This is very cool, I'm glad you posted how you transfer them to the wood. And that skeleton is very creepy!
