Allison I will miss you funny acting. I have a request can you do a episode again with Ben mabey a video on pinball wars again or many the minecraft Redstone. #allisonbestlarper
Hello Ben, a few months back I myself had been the one who came up with this idea and after talking to you on Facebook you liked the idea now i see you are making videos about it and not even slightly acknowledging my idea. Thanks for the video though really helpful.
I almost wish Ben would tell us when the projects are going to be in split videos. I would have waited til it was done to watch all the parts. Instead, I am on the edge of my seat wanting to see the final product. The suspense is killin.......gag...gag...bleh. (Lol) Welcome, Max. I like how they both had to tilt their heads back to look up. Its fun to be tall. (Unless low chandeliers are around)
William Holman-Bissegger QuantumFluxable J Schmidt Alright folks, don't have a cow. I don't bother to look at the title. I get a notification and I just click it. Then I switch to wide-screen. I am not gonna delete my comment. I am gonna leave it up because I believe that if one makes a mistake, one cannot just delete it. One must deal with its consequences. Otherwise I would have deleted it by now. I noticed before y'all commented and I did feel foolish after I noticed. But I must accept it.
That was really funny especially the intro :-) and that is a killer idea with the camera panning automatically. Totally blew me away when I saw it working and I realize what the concept was going to be. Killer dude!!! Man, I love these videos! it is sad that we are not going to be seeing Alyson anymore :-( , but we definitely welcome the new guy Max! :-)
Could you have it track a IR led that way you just have to shut the led off and not have to remove it from frame? Also you could clip the led to your lapel and have a momentary button on your person where the IR would light up and the camera would track when pressed?
Here's an idea for the project Ben. The Pixy can detect distance too, right? Does the camera this will be used on have an optical zoom function? If so you can set the distance detection system up to adjust the recording camera zoom to get the camera dialed in perfectly with the target and one button push. Just an idea. Not sure how hard or easy the code for that would be. Hardware wise it wouldn't be too hard to do.
how come i dont see the servo protocols in any of this libraries ? i see the xy w and h but i dont see those values being ported over to the serial for arduino to tell servo to move
You know I've wanted to replace my friends with robot cameramen for a while. I'm just getting sick of the -I'm tired -I'm hungry -Ahhh that burns -Please let me out of the pit just so frustrating too work with
I wonder if this sort of thing could also be used with Kinect sensors and those little colored balls attached to a person's clothes (if necessary) as a way of tracking a person's movements and gestures for use with an augmented reality/gesture-based interface setup?
How close to the camera do you think I could have my subject? I was hoping to be able to track my eye and then relay the live position of my eye to an animation that would then show this (like motion capture).
Could you use a series of different coloured LED's that operate via push button? That way you could define different colour profiles, set specific functions to those colours, and have combinations of functions, ie, focus here + zoom in 20%, pull back 50%, pan from this colour to that colour, zoom to these two extents but stay focussed on the focus here colour, etc. LED's would make it so they could operate in lower-light situations with better clarity, but maybe you could do a mechanical setup that would work the same way. Just a thought, though you're probably already past the next phase.
I like the idea of this project so far, but have an idea, imbed the "puck" with a bright colored LED that when on, changes the color of the puck so that it would then be ignored. You can move it where you want to, press button on top, and move it away.
Hi I'm a student from Puerto Rico university. I'm making an object tracking device with the PIXY camera, I'm using arduino and two hitec servos but I'm having trouble getting the data from the PIXY and using it for the servos. Could you help ?
hi! we are working on a project which is similar to the one you worked on, but we are using the brushless gimbal motor with a basecam instead of the steepper motors and a Gopro. so we want to know if there should be a code that can control the brushless gimbal with arduino or shall we use just the basecam to do it? PS: we proposed two possibilities to track with pixy, the first is with colors (as you did) and the second is with IR-Lock. so for the second proposition, how can we send the x and y to the basecam to control our gimbal motors. thank you in advance
Hey The Ben Heck Show , I think a good build idea is to improve upon the portable cnc machine or maybe just a regular cnc for people on a budget. I thought the episode of that build wasn't as thoroughly explained as it could have been. Also there wasn't much footage of it running g-code for test cuts. Anyone else agree?
Ben, can you make a Windows 8 gaming tablet? Much like the Razer Edge, so keep the 10" screen but have a better performance machine. Possibly try and fit a small GPU in it or use an APU if size is an issue? That would be awesome!
I wonder if its smart to have the pixy and the final cam on different rigs. It makes things more complicated. I would put the pixy on the cam. Or did I understand Ben wrong? Also nice to see the new guy. Wonder if he will appear more frequently like Alyson did (in jokes etc).
Would be cool if Ben Heck could make a mini 3D video recording studio. I remember seeing 3D scanning, but I wonder if Ben could make a hexagonal box with cameras all around that take live video and translate that into a 3D hologram. Would be great for Microsoft Hololens presentations in the future. Making one on the cheap would be great.
You've been teasing us about the end of Alyson all year. Is this really the end? (good luck Alyson). This seems to me to be a good project to up your software skills. How about adding in some control theory? or include a Kalman filter (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalman_filter)
instead of a large gaudy object, how about a square of scotch-lite and putting a couple LEDS around the lens so the LED's light goes back into the lens? and why not just make it pan and tilt?
Ben builds replacement for Allison. We knew it was coming.
Bye Alyson! The show is never going to be the same. I hope to see you do something else in the future. You crack me up.
Alyson: Goodbye, good luck and thank you
Max: Welcome aboard
Ben's miming removing the green object (at 3:28) from the 3D printer was Oscar-worthy.
Welcome Max! hope you enjoy your time on The Ben Heck Show, also don't let any Hate comments get to you, that is if there are any.
I say let's give him a chance
Andrew Kerr
Of course!
Max people just are hating because Allison has been a important person on this show. Give people time to come around.
Allison I will miss you funny acting.
I have a request can you do a episode again with Ben mabey a video on pinball wars again or many the minecraft Redstone.

The "... Part 1" in the title doesn't tell you that the project is going to be split into different videos?..
You know, you could just have a look at the episode title, it says "Part 1" in there...
It says Part 1
William Holman-Bissegger QuantumFluxable J Schmidt Alright folks, don't have a cow. I don't bother to look at the title. I get a notification and I just click it. Then I switch to wide-screen.

Russ Orler But if I had a cow I could sell it to McDonalds and get some real beef for once....

Does anyone know why she's leaving?
I wanna know too :(
It is a fair question
maybe the contract ends or she got a better job?
Intern maybe?
It is financially easier to use credited interns, than paid employees.
The episode subject is an automatic camera rig, perhaps ben thought they didn't need her anymore? heh, anyway I would like to know the real reason too
Great to have you here Max, welcome aboard! :)
Great job Alyson! You've been really professional and helpful. Your bike blog is really inspiring too. All the best.

Bye Allison, thanks for all your work on the show.

Welcome to the show Max!!!!
is it possible to do this same project but using an infrared target so that its not a visible target?
Max doesn't have DAT thing that Alyson has.
(you know what i'm talking about.)
A vagina, you sicko?
Schlablaba Dingdong I was talking about her beautiful long hair, obviously...
allluckyseven you set that up so pathetically..I'm impressed.
Thanks. You're too kind.
Schlablaba Dingdong What if he's trans? Or Alyson is? I doubt you know for sure. :)
So long Allison, all the best for your future. Welcome Max, look forward to your sub par acting.
Neat Project, look forward to Episody II... Alyson, Good Luck in what ever you do!!!

Ben is your shop here in Wisconsin, I am just north of you near Fond Du Lac.
What's up with your clock Ben? 3:37 It can't decide if it's 4 o'clock by the hour hand or half past something by the minute hand !!
will this be your main camera for recording on youtube?
where did you learned to program the pixy?
1:00 Alyson was sure pleased to know that, as it is 3 after midnight.
Only finns will get that joke.
How did you code your stepper motors?
What is the use of that handycam?
how come i dont see the servo protocols in any of this libraries ? i see
the xy w and h but i dont see those values being ported over to the
serial for arduino to tell servo to move
As a student pilot i can say that yes, it is Pitch, roll and yaw :)
Then what is bank
blobsucker227 its a synonym of roll :)
blobsucker227 "Bank" is what you make when you pilot large planes. ;)
Yep, getting my PPL and Ben was spot on.
Nah, close though, im from Slovakia :)
You know I've wanted to replace my friends with robot cameramen for a while.
I'm just getting sick of the
-I'm tired
-I'm hungry
-Ahhh that burns
-Please let me out of the pit
just so frustrating too work with
Ben heck you are the man! Love your show! Just what I was looking for!
haha 15:47 "pew pew pew"
Hello Ben! I was wondering how did you get sponsored of Element 14?
I wonder if this sort of thing could also be used with Kinect sensors and those little colored balls attached to a person's clothes (if necessary) as a way of tracking a person's movements and gestures for use with an augmented reality/gesture-based interface setup?
Is it possible to make the movement more smooth with a PID?
And the stepper should move faster with a higher pulse frequency.
sir can i use pixy cam to detect writings on white board?
what about a autotracking ultrasonic sensor or ldr? where did ben get the app from?
How close to the camera do you think I could have my subject? I was hoping to be able to track my eye and then relay the live position of my eye to an animation that would then show this (like motion capture).
You think a tag could be built for a soloshot1?
Ben I thought VHS resolution was higher then that like 330x480?
Your video would deserve more views. Thank you.
does ben do all the techno stuff or research help from others?
Would it be possible to build a real-life version of the Game of Thrones intro?
Nah but the screwing would be easy. Ben has the tools...
Hello, could you give me the code to be able to move a servo?
BEN can i get your code for just panning one single motor you showed in the video ?
Why is Alyson leaving?
We will miss her :(...
Welcome to the show Max...
can it recognize deck of cards or different currency notes?
When did Ben buy a Cintiq?
Fantastic. I also have a pixy lying around with no real use until know. I think I'll attach this to a drone for some follow me action...
Thanks Ben.
the pixy can detect ir, right?

you should set it to track the circuit board or soldering iron
when its sevral episodes of one subject, can you put part # of # please, as sometimes ive missed some as i thought i already watched it.
can i use the pixycam to track the sun in a solar cell tracking system ??
I am pretty sure that Alison is working out...

Aww come back Alison!
Brilliant ben, well done another brilliant video keep up the super work. Well done!

Awesome episode! Thanks for posting.
#MissingAlisonAlready
Pretty neat idea.
I think that colour is called "pinkenta". #drtv
This is awesome but can you make a video of your collection of electronics that you've made on your channel that would awesome
you were right about the pitch roll yaw thing lol
love ur projects, keep it up! :)
The best skit ever!
3:11 Is that a world's smallest pallet?
Bye, Alyson! We'll miss you and your off camera laughs! Good luck!
Don't know if you'll read this or not but I'd like to see a bluray player made out of sega genesis or nes possibly keeping the system stock looking.
Why use a stepper motor? You've essentially got a closed loop feedback system, right? So no need to count steps..
I want to read CAN data from a OBD2 of car , and want to send the same over wifi, could you please help me how to do using Arduino .
Would be cool if Ben Heck could make a mini 3D video recording studio. Very sad to hear that Allison is leaving😟
Alison, quick get out of bed, he's going to replace you with a Cyborg camera mount. ;)
Holy crap he's actually building the Alyson-bot.
Great video!
I always thought Alyson slept nude :3
[MYTH BUSTED]
kappa
Ben does
Poo Jabba I did not need to know that.
She does. That wasn't sleeping. It was "acting".
Bye Alyson!! We'll miss you! :( Good luck on your future projects!!
Awesome vid by the way!!! Thank you so much :D
Welcome Max ! ! !
Goodbye Alyson, and welcome Max !!
Your right Ben, about the flight surfaces.
You've been teasing us about the end of Alyson all year. Is this really the end? (good luck Alyson).
This seems to me to be a good project to up your software skills. How about adding in some control theory? or include a Kalman filter (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalman_filter)
You can track your solder iron.
oh dear vhs is 330x576 (for PAL). not the same as your pixy :P
could u make a raspberry pi tablet using the b +
You could attach the motion to a higher quality camera and just you the pixie for tracking.
instead of a large gaudy object, how about a square of scotch-lite and putting a couple LEDS around the lens so the LED's light goes back into the lens? and why not just make it pan and tilt?
I love this guy!!!
Next episode, a device that will make all his head hair grow again..
Could you make a auto tracking telescope with laptop connectability? That would be cool to watch. Great Show!
Welcome Alex! I think you'll do great.
Ben, I will happily come film at 3AM. Hire me. now. that is not a question.
Ben I have a build request make your own gaming steering wheel gas pedals and shifter for pc
