- A series on how to scratch build and install a wooden trestle into a model railroad layout, add scenery material, trees, backdrops and finally a river with waterfalls. Full series on my website at www.drgwrr.com under "Clinics".
Fantastic workmanship! I will attempt! Thank you for taking the time to share! Again thank you.
Very impressive work Lex, I love the attention you take in the details. I look forward to seeing the finished product. I will be going back and look at you your videos now.
Lex. Excellent series. Thanks mate. Mario ( Australia )
Very nice, great videos. I have learned alot. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Great looking bridge.
Just corrugated cardboard under the bents. I am following up with hardshell then plaster of Paris overall for a strong base. Next video #7 will explain it.
Lex, another great addition to the series. Its kind of hard to tell from the video but is there anything else besides the cardboard under the bents? I know yu said that it will all get scenicked in but does that include those supports? Thanks Pat
Yes, painted all the back drops too.
would like see how you put the bridge on part 6
i want built that bridge
Thanks Lex, will be on the lookout for it. Did you read my private message on Facebook? Pat
What is supporting the bottom of the bents? In the "real" world you are modeling the bents are supported by the rock, not air. Build the foundations first no matter what size your railroad.
If you look closely, dowels support the main bents to the benchwork. I used card stock sheet bridging the bases and plastered them as a rock surface which would be rigid. There is no load on those bents so this is just fine.
