Wouldn’t suggest using a cutoff wheel in area where you’d normally need a “hot work” permit. Most office buildings with Sheetrock wouldn’t like sparks going down into the cutout. Oscillating tools might be better. Cool video though. Thanks for sharing.
Some doors are “poured” which is to have concrete in the hollow of the door, in the case of these doors, you would have to cut the metal and then bust the concrete behind the cuts with a hammer drill or something comparable. Getting the cable down to a strike is an entirely different story.
What I typically do is if we are installing a card reader for the door in question. Drill your holes for the reader, then use a long sds bit and drill from the strike pocket up to the hole for the reader. Hard to run the wire, but overall clean install.
