+Ryan Is Blind Thanks man I appreciate it. This is the exercise that has helped me reach way higher notes. Look at my new video on Shayley Bourget, as to be able to sing the high melodies you need to roll in power to the high notes
Dude you're amazing, I've started doing this exercise for the past week and I can feel I'm slowly able to sing higher. Can't wait to see more stuff man!
Portia Howelter definitely dont sing when you are sick! It can damage your vocal chords permanantly especially singing such high notes like vic fuentes
Wow, you can imitate his voice really well! I'm preforming a cover of Today I saw the Whole World next week (the acoustic version, I like the original better but it doesn't exactly sound great with one guitar, lol) and I'm really struggling to find my voice for it. I'm a soprano and I can sing it pretty well in full head voice, but that's not really the style I'm going for. When I try to sing it more like he does I start missing all the high notes. Maybe I'm just bad at mixing. Idk if this tutorial will work on my lady voice but I'll give it a try!
You can only "increase" your range so much. "Increasing your range" is really just learning to access and refine range that was already there, which is determined by the physiology of your vocal cords.
Doug Zeigenbein haha but I wasn't telling u I mean u do sound like hem but I bet none of these people that commented on your video even me didn't sound like vic at all. But u nailed it.
And now every time I hear PTV music I think of your voice which makes me wanna go to your video and watch it all over again. haha oh technology what would we do without u
thank you this was helpful but what about the "screamed" parts that Vic and kellin do like in Bulls in the Bronxs? or James Dean and Audrey Hepburn? or the other songs where they do the screams? any advice?
+Mordecai Fan Im glad this video helped you :) I haven't made a video on screaming but if you check out my latest video on singing with grit, it is the exact same technique as screaming. I hope it helps!
+Doug Zeigenbein Yes, thank you it helped, I just can't find a good way to "practice" it or really slow it down and get it right. thank you for replying it did help me :D
HOLY SHIT IT WORKS! I actually came across this vid a year ago but never got around to doing it, thinking I can't sing those high notes like Vic or anything. If you guys are in doubt if this actually works or not, let me tell you with practice, it most def does! Thank you Doug, you are the man!
Something I noticed that helps a bit with getting the hang of this is if you look in a mirror you could try to move your soft palate up like how its supposed to be when you sing in the mask & that helps cause you can see yourself doing it & youll get used to what that feels like & like try to hit different notes while looking at your soft palate to see if your doing it lol idk that helped me a bit soo:3
+Jules Zotta yes very true! Did you find that information somewhere or did you just figure it out? I used a hand held mirror for many weeks to learn to lift the soft palate.
+Doug Zeigenbein oh for a while i was having trouble with it & i was like "hmm, i wonder if i can just move it without singing?" & yeah i took a little-ish mirror & tried to move it and it was really difficult at first lol but just yesterday i tried doing that with the mirror but this time, hitting different notes like just with my mouth open & then singing like that got a lot easier cause i can definitely feel it more now. But for a while im gonna keep doing that mirror thing cause it really helps lol
That's what I want to hear man, somebody who can take initiative and work hard to figure this stuff out. Good job man, like I said I used to use the mirror as well until I mastered the sensation :)
idr if you said it or not but like, how long did you do this for? like when did you really start to notice a difference? you said in the neutral larynx video to do that exercise for about a month, is there some period of time you'd recommend someone do this exercise for? also your videos are so SOO helpful, they're incredible and your singing is just unbelievable like please keep doing what you're doing ^-^
+Jules Zotta Thanks so much for the kind words! I did this for about 3 months. By doing this exercise your range doesn't just suddenly unlock, you just discover how to manipulate the higher notes. Then you combine it with good breathing, power, and focus on singing in the mask to get the tone free like I teach in my 2nd Vic Fuentes video I just uploaded. I'll keep making videos man, just keep practicing and sending in your questions!
+Joanna Palma Okay awesome, goodluck! I still do it at a home but I hate people hearing. Definitely try to do it when no one is around as it's very loud!
I do stacatto m's everyday along with tons of other exercises so i thought this wouldn't do much, but i guess the tongue out and particular sound of the exercise make a big difference! i think i saw a similar thing in a ken tamplin video? anyways. Great video man! very intrigued by you ever since i watched your video with phil where the volume was an issue at first and such. Looking forward too seeing more!! well, on my way right now!.
+Misael V. Thanks dude. Yep that video with Phil and me is a good one. Yeah man, your best bet is to incorporate the exercise into your routine and if you aren't getting the results you want.. then cut it out! Trial and error :)
So, how can I get the courage to practice this and other vocal techniques when I live with my family because I'm still in high school? I don't want to sound stupid and embarrass myself.
sings an A4 "that's pretty high" lol. this video is great though. I really love the exercise you provide. It's been extremely helpful already, removing tension.
That's good! It's amazin to see how far you've came ! I want to ask, how did u get above the break? Because at f4# my voice automatically cracks after the note. Sometimes I can go up to an G4 but then after my voice cracks and flips in falsetto. Does this video help get sing above that part ? Also, how long does it take for your mixed voice to develop with this exercise?
Thanks! I got above the break by learning to strengthen my chest then lightening it into my mixed voice around F#4. This video and all youtube videos put you in the right direction but it is too complex to learn it 100% correctly from YT. This video just puts you into the mixed voice spot which is a great exercise for learning to bridge the gap. As for how long it will take, it will take as long as it needs too. That depends on so many different factors e.g. where you are starting from, how much vocal technique you already have.
+Andry Novrian hey! Nah I think nasally is a bad way to describe it. You could say a bit "whiny" or that he cries into the sound a lot (not talking against him since I love his voice). He has definitely changed his voice a lot. I recommend you check out their set at 2015s Reading and Leeds festival. Not whiny/nasally at all! His voice has changed a lot.
+Doug Zeigenbein not only you, i really love him too , you can check my ig and my soundcloud, i try to sing all song use his voice...i really thank u too for u to make this video but i need clue to found my voice character like vic voice, kellin quin or anthony green...not really be him hehehe if the whiny voice or nasally voice is way to get voice like vic, yah, i take it man..
Hi Doug ! I was impressed with your teaching here. You just earn a new subscriber. :D Anyway, Im a baritone, Can i use this technique here to sing the same way as Vic ? Because Vic is a tenor though i think :|
+Jabbal Lui Hey! Thanks so much! If you are truly a baritone, you can definitely learn to sing all the same high notes Vic sings- but your voice just might not sound best there. Think of Andy Biersack from BVB in a song like Heart Of Fire. He has a low voice, but he still sings all the harmonies which are really high!
+svegaldde No problem! Yeah Tim from Rise Against is a great singer. Okay but for the moment just know the technique these bands use to sing their high pitched are exactly the same. Vics use of the mixed voice is the same voice that Tim Mcilrath uses.
Thanks! But I would love to see a screaming tutorial. Or did I just missed it? Btw your stuff is much more helpful than the "tips" of those super professionals here on youtube.
+svegaldde Okay yeah I don't have a screaming tutorial up. Thank you! I used to look for information on RUclips and those tips didn't do anything for me.
+peanutbutter I know! -.-, It was originally Ziegenbein but a couple of generations back my grandfather messed up in some bank forms and it stayed that way, I guess it's here for good haha.
+peanutbutter Yes goat leg. So you are saying if I perform in Germany, the crowd will be laughing with me? To be honest I never thought about this hahaha
Wait wait, You actually sounded on point :0. 2:25 And that’s without autotune and stuff Rly impressive fr the exercise is funny, I hope my parents dont bust out my door for doing the exercise at 1 am😂
so that is why albert einstein made the tongue out face! to sing like vic!
No he just loved sticking his tongue out in pictures. Baka.
Taylor FireFlame stop using the japanese word baka you fucking weeb
wahahahahhaa
Imran Lah ni. wakakakaa!!
hey listen to me a a a a a a
Am I the only one who thinks this is how vic sounded as a baby

Bookmarking this. This is perfect. My band is covering a lot of PTV and I really want to be able to sing like Vic
+Ryan Is Blind Thanks man I appreciate it. This is the exercise that has helped me reach way higher notes. Look at my new video on Shayley Bourget, as to be able to sing the high melodies you need to roll in power to the high notes
Thank you so much. I'm gonna use all of your lessons
:D
Its been a year! Hows the band going ??
Hey it’s been 6 years how the band?
Dude you're amazing, I've started doing this exercise for the past week and I can feel I'm slowly able to sing higher. Can't wait to see more stuff man!

i laughed after reading this comment
Elijah Anderson I was high and I was like wtf lmao
Yeah 😂
Yes.
I'm currently sick and I'm losing my voice but I did this anyway and it literally made my throat hurt less. I need to take up singing
I can’t keep a straight face doing the tongue thing 😭
It works, but i can't stop laughing at the part where you stick your tongue out. XD
imagine his mother getting into her room at 3:17
thank you so much. This has helped me quite a lot actually. Therefore I'm grateful. Thanks man.
6 years later and I still can’t, my vocal cords won’t allow me no matter what
You can only "increase" your range so much. "Increasing your range" is really just learning to access and refine range that was already there, which is determined by the physiology of your vocal cords.
nobody can sound like vic he is to perfect 😍😍
+Ruby Villegas Okay fair enough ;) note the word "Like" in the title hahaha
Doug Zeigenbein haha but I wasn't telling u I mean u do sound like hem but I bet none of these people that commented on your video even me didn't sound like vic at all. But u nailed it.
Haha thanks Ruby I appreciate it
Doug Zeigenbein no prob 😄
And now every time I hear PTV music I think of your voice which makes me wanna go to your video and watch it all over again. haha oh technology what would we do without u
You are the man Doug Z!
Thanks man! I have a naturally deeper voice but this practice really made it click!
thank you this was helpful but what about the "screamed" parts that Vic and kellin do like in Bulls in the Bronxs? or James Dean and Audrey Hepburn? or the other songs where they do the screams? any advice?

+Doug Zeigenbein If one day you could do a screaming video that would be nice but, thank you so much, your videos are very helpful!
Thanks again! I'll plan that for the future. Just practice it with a song you like such as King For A Day for only 5 minutes a day :)

I desperately need a sing like kellin quinn video oml

This helps a lot, thank u
This is exactly the same as phil's video lol. Nice to see how you're sharin the ideas! I've seen u in his videos!
Haha all good man. This was the first vocal tutorial video I ever made and Phil helped me make the video
I did do this steps. Now my neighbors think ima sing a animal song.
idr if you said it or not but like, how long did you do this for? like when did you really start to notice a difference? you said in the neutral larynx video to do that exercise for about a month, is there some period of time you'd recommend someone do this exercise for? also your videos are so SOO helpful, they're incredible and your singing is just unbelievable like please keep doing what you're doing ^-^

Thanks for the tip :) I just subscribed btw, sick channel!
Great choice :P Hope to see you around on this channel and I hope the vids really help
+Joanna Palma How did it go?
It helped so much! I'm going to continue doing this, thanks for the video :D
wow your voice is crazy good

YES tht hold on till may video was fucking MINDBLOWING for me exactly cuz of tht reason! Thts how i cracked the code too
So, how can I get the courage to practice this and other vocal techniques when I live with my family because I'm still in high school? I don't want to sound stupid and embarrass myself.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it :)
4:49 for the exercise
Ohmygod. It DOOOEZZZZ sooounndd liiiikke hiiiimmmm.. ~
Ah ah ah ah so comforting
PLOT TWIST: *YOU CANT*
trueee he's too perfect
sings an A4 "that's pretty high" lol. this video is great though. I really love the exercise you provide. It's been extremely helpful already, removing tension.
So you start off trying to sing Staying Alive?
Have you heard of a guy named Devin Oliver? Hes a really high singer, you shoulde check his band out
I love Treehouse by I See Stars and I used to jam 3D when I was in grade 9
thank buddy 👍
i dont understand any of this, but you did give me a nice entry into my giggle bank. I'm looking for how to do clean screamo mixed voice
your face also changing into him ahahahahahahahaha
It really really helped me! I did this for less than an hour and it really changed! Thanks man!
Singing exercises are so funny

Don't think I can't see that skyrim map 👀
Me who has a female voice and can already hit the high notes: 👁👄👁👍
Genders are rigged bruh
Hitting the high notes by default is cool, but most of Vic's (and Kellin's) characteristics comes from pushing their voice to that range
@@jayvee4321 I know that, I was just commenting on the fact that I watched the entire video even though it's useless to me
@@MothsMusicBox It does lack the tutorial on how to have the same timbre as him
@@MothsMusicBox no one cares
hey man i wanna ask you, is vic nasally voice singer?

hahaha awesome! if you follow me on instagram- I'll follow you back when I see your name. I really need to use it more though
+Doug Zeigenbein ok , thank u
Hi Doug ! I was impressed with your teaching here. You just earn a new subscriber. :D

+Doug Zeigenbein sound nice. I just started to sing few months ago, and not reaching satisfactory point yet. I'll try my best. Anyway thanks man. :))
really looks awkward but it so great exercise 100 percent it will work..
ur the man. we gotta talk. i got a little offer for u.
You are awesome :-D
+DDIREX STUART Thanks! Hope it helped you
What’s the song name on 0:15???? 🙏
How do you change the tone to be more musical? I can only do the exercise tone
YAY I SOUND LIKE HIM NOW!!! 👍👍👍
Love this another vid! How to sing Like Oliver Sykes love From Philippines🇵🇭
you are so awesome dude
+Tom Scully Thanks Tom :)
thank you so much you really helped me 😊
+justin r No problem Justin :P Glad I could help. There is also part 2 of this video on my channel
So how can I do this as a bass.. the highest note I can hit without a falsetto is an E4.. but I thought it'd be cool to sing with Vic's piercing tone.
Hey I was wondering if you could do a video on how to growl or if you knew how and could maybe just go over some things that could help me out?
Thanks for sharing! Could you do something about Mr. Tim Mcilrath?
+svegaldde I had to take lessons and now I'm sharing information related directly to this genre!
hahahahah your last name "zeigenbein" means in german "showing leg" i'm laughing 😂😂😂😂😂
+peanutbutter I know! -.-, It was originally Ziegenbein but a couple of generations back my grandfather messed up in some bank forms and it stayed that way, I guess it's here for good haha.
+Doug Zeigenbein omg really😂 ziege means goat😂😂
+peanutbutter Yes goat leg. So you are saying if I perform in Germany, the crowd will be laughing with me? To be honest I never thought about this hahaha
+Doug Zeigenbein uhm yes maybe 😂
Thank you for the heads up this early in my RUclips career xD
Thanks bro!
He actually sounds like Vic 😂
Wait wait, You actually sounded on point :0. 2:25

+Packo Vocals and guitar covers Thanks :P I need to make more Vic Fuentes videos
How do you actually switch that to be able to sing words with it??
+Genesis-X-Eli Hey, just try singing it very slowly and start as low as you need too then try to increase the pitch a half step each time.
+Doug Zeigenbein I used to have a problem hitting the C#5 during the exercise and now I can do it everytime
+Genesis-X-Eli That is so good. I couldn't even get past A4 when I started.
+Doug Zeigenbein omg u sounded so amazing at the end when u sang oh my god 😍😍😍
+Doug Zeigenbein I can't stop playing that part at the end omg your voice ughhhhh 😍😍😍
THANK U VERY MUCH!
I don't know why but i laugh so hard when i saw his tongue out and say ahh...ahhh.ahhh.ahh...

Reminds me of Little Britain, if anyone has ever watched.

Saludos desde Argentina gran video
This is great except for beginners this might create a high larynx habbit haha. To anyone new research as much as you can and don't rush into belting.
