I just found your channel and needless to say I have searched high and low for YEARS trying to find all of this information about starting a clinic, PTA vs PT, doing PTA first then DPT, etc. and you answer every possible question future students/current students are wanting to know. So thank you SO much for making these videos and even the checklist for this video is like...WHOAH! So thoughtful and so helpful! So I guess I'm just trying to say thank you so much for making these videos!

      Thanks so much!
the reason we wanted to do all of this is because I can remember when I had all these questions and I didn't know where to look to find all the answers and get advice lol.
We are also coming out with a few courses in the future on how to start a clinic with all the business information you need to know about setting up your LLC and getting in network with insurances and all that information as well.
      Thanks for the support!

I always dreamed of one day being a private owner in PT. I'm in my undergrad and still have a little ways to go. Would you be willing to be my mentor in this process?

adebola badiru there is a lot that goes into starting a private practice. But the first thing I would do is go through and plan out everything you need to get started.
Where are you at in this process?

Would you recommend become a PTA or DPT before opening a practice. Or would you say it has little impact on the business side of things. I have been a rehab tech for a year and getting ready to start the PTA program in the spring and am really excited to progress in this career. Your videos have helped me alot In understanding physical therapy thank you and keep it up.

It depends on your finances and what you actually want to do. Technically you don't have to be a PTA or a PT to run and own a clinic.
As a PT you can basically run the whole business by yourself. You can do your own billing, eval, treat, schedule, etc.
As a PTA you will need to hire a PT to do the evals so that is a cost but you can help with treating patients, scheduling, billing, etc.
With no degree you can still hire a PT and have them eval and treat but you could do the rest of the work.
Or you can hire a person to do everything, you can hire a biller, hire a PT, hire a PTA, hire a receptionist, etc.

@@AntonioSanson so you don't need to be a PT to own your PT clinic right? So you can just put the money and do the marketing

Hi I'm a 2nd year PT student, can I ask how hard is it to seek employment if you're with a medical condition? I am in a dilemma on whether I should pursue med school or a higher education in Physical Therapy and open up a business. Thanks for the your insights presented in this video btw.

A year late, but for anyone else wondering! To disprove a person because they have a disability is discriminatory and not allowed, however if your disability does not allow you to do the main task your job requires than you are not eligible.
For example, if you are applying for a job where you are moving packed furniture from floor level to a wheeler/cart, you hold need to be able to bend over or crouch for a period of time, as well as lift a significant amount of wait a short distance (to a maximum of 50Ib). In this case if you could not bed or crouch and you could not lift packed furniture, you would not be eligible for this position. However if this was only a part of your job amount other things and another part was to move 20Ib cases of office supplies, which you could do, or count inventory or manage cash, you
and your employer may be able to compromise and find a solution.
I hope this answers the question and helps anyone wondering!

Is there any specific EMR you would recommend?

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  5 лет назад +2

It depends if you are trying to do billing yourself or hire someone and if you plan to do cash based care or accept insurance.
We use WebPT because it has all the features we need to be able to do everything ourselves. It is a little more expensive than some other ones but it saves us money because we don't have to hire a separate biller or other costs like that.

Rocky Chato it depends on the college you plan on attending. It varies by what program you are in.
I honestly don’t remember exactly the time frames were for my program but you could probably call and ask the college you plan on attending
