    I have a 2005 Dodge Neon 5 speed manual. I got it from my sister 4 years ago. She bought it new in 2005. It has never needed any major repairs except a clutch and it's been a great car. It's now at about 213K miles.

    I inherited mine from my mom before she passed away and it runs wonderful. Great travel car in my opinion. Only major work I’ve done was replace the head gasket seals, water pump, and timing belt (wasn’t driven much for a few years prior). But other than that and usual oil changes and brake replacements it runs amazing!

    I have one of these in manual. Fun to drive and sounds decent, but some things are a pain to work on. Took me ~6 hours to replace just the idler pulley, which included removing the power steering pump and removing an engine mount. And I had help. Other than that, no issues or breakdowns.

      I have a manual Neon as well. Great car. I know what you mean about the idler pulley. I've replaced the timing belt and water pump before and the bracket with the idler pulley on it needs to come out to do that. It's a pain.

    My Neon has some transmission problems but I have 161,000 miles on it. My mechanic drove it and said that I need to watch the transmission oil level and that the transmission is still good for a few miles more. The a/c went out long ago and I did not bother to have it repaired, but otherwise, I have never had any major problems. I've never had a car with so few mechanical problems. Hope to keep driving it and never to have to buy another car.

    I need some advice since I’ll be getting a 2005 dodge neon sxt. I need to get a key to be able to open the door since that second key is missing and I was told to buy a new one. So, should I purchase a key and get it cut or a key fob and have it programmed. I’m so excited and though it’s second hand I want to make sure Mr.Smalls Berry (the name I’ve given my car). I have 1 of these and I can tell you all these sxt neons are good for headgaskets, Struts and the ignition pins breaking. Struts are cheaply made at least from the OEM, You will not much more than 100k miles out of a set of struts before it develops noise and in my case the mounts on 3 of mine are broke on my 2005 Neon sxt with 130k miles.
    Now I like mine, but I've went threw a headgasket at a shy over 100k miles, I help run a scap business and all the neons we get are normally because of headgaskets or the ignition pins breaking. I'd stay clear if anyone is looking at a SXT Neon's. SRT Neons are better, you still get the Ignition pin issues on some of them.
    I got a 02 Cavalier with a 2.2 that has 300k miles and I've never had to replace anything like what I've had to replace on this newer Neon sxt at even 100k miles..... Hell I haven't had to replace a single strut yet in that Cavalier.

    • @jamesmyers6739
      @jamesmyers6739 7 лет назад +1

      Viking 2121 you would never kill a cavalier.. The body will rust away before the engine or anything else fail

    • @VikingDudee
      @VikingDudee 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah, it's the most reliable car I've ever owned, Sounds like a tractor at idle, timing chain slap that some of the 2.2's had, but it's been running with that noise for 7 years and I have a replacement engine and tranny setting in the garage I pulled out of a saturan, just waiting for the original engine to die lol. I do need to patch the rockers and patch rear corner panel by the antenna. Sold my Neon, and bought a 91 chevy 1500. Tired of the problems that Neon kept having...

    Just a quick note if you're going to be doing car reviews get yourself a GoPro in a window mount so you can actually film outside the window while you drive or film yourself driving because. Driving and holding your camera or a cell phone is not safe. And it'll be better for the viewers because of be like were virtually riding along with you instead of having shaky video
