Time to pick up an R1! End of an Era
Can’t blame Yamaha if people are buying ADVs instead of superbikes. The SUVs of the biking world.
Yep
Exactly. Cars are turning into SUVs and bikes are turning into ADVs. 😢
@@magellanicspaceclouds Lots of bikes on the market which are not ADVs.
what a moronic comment. adv bikes are the SUVs, sport bikes are sports cars. Literally in the name🤣

The era of people having disposable cash is coming to an end for most people.
That’s very much a part of this, sadly.
I don't think so. People are still buying stupidly expensive bikes, they are just not sport bikes.

Yeah I think salaries haven't kept up with bikeflation TBH yes bikes are inline/slightly less than inflation of past prices but salaries are stagnant therefore not keeping up. I think the only reason some still sell today is due to PCP.
I guess the bureaucrats, snowflakes and accountants are winning 😢
Sadly mate, don’t you ride an R1? Or did you previously?
@@visordown No, I've wanted a current-gen R1 for years but finances haven't permitted it. Hopefully this year though. Might get two now haha
It's a sad, sad day in the sportbike world. 😢
The manufacturers lost it when litter bikes went past 13k price. No sport bike is worth over 20k, I don't care what it is.
For many people, money is no issue. Lamborghini and Ferrari aren't struggling for buyers.
Don't be naïve. Being lower or middle class is the main reason most of ride sport bikes. If we were rich, we would buy Lamborghini's and Ferrari's and not deal with the fact of certain death after a highspeed crash..@@LeeTillbury
@@LeeTillbury For most people in the usa, money is an issue. Especially for those that would be considered target audience (20-30 year old age range), money is definitely an issue for them.

The decline of the sportbikes as we know them is very sad indeed.
BMW keeps updating their S1k, yet namaha discontinues the R1.....
Common big 4 L
too powerful and dangerous on the road, too expensive to buy and also to maintain, too technical to use on the street, excessive power for road regulations and restrictions , uncomfortable and most of the time too hot for getting around in a City and really uncomfortable for travelling long distances, practically impossible to accommodate a second passenger or baggage. As a lover of sports bikes I can understand very well why the majority of people don't want to buy and use them apart from a few crazy 🤡 like me

In a nutshell they are pussafying the market.
S 1000 RR, Panigale V4, plenty of other expensive supersports, so it's not cost. I assume it will still be available in non EU markets.
Euro brands still update 2ts, decades after the 🇯🇵 gave up on them. It's not a lack of money, the stale 4 just don't care about fun motorcycles.
Give your money to those who deserve it👀
Ducati sells out all of their LE superbikes so it's definitely not for lack of interest. Yamaha with its racing history has to have a flagship model to inspire all the crappy small displacement versions.
@@franklinwilkerson2061 The 🇯🇵 don't have any passion for motorcycles, that's why their bikes are so stale and outdated.
BMW/Ducati, will keep improving their Superbikes, till they are forced to stop, by bs laws.

I think this linked to decline in testosterone levels in modern men😅😅
Taking away our superbikes is only gonna make it worse.
BS emissions laws, and the 🇯🇵 caring more about money, than making awesome bikes. Are the reasons we are here
Yeah, the men of today are far more reserved and apprehensive about speed and danger.
Men today would rather be a tiktoker or youtuber than have to work 9-5 job
No surprise here. No real changes since 2015. Perhaps an all new race only model? One can always hope.
The era of the Superbike is transitioning into the era of the middleweight sport bikes as the new kings!
Seems like it is.
@@visordownWhat will the Italian bike makers do?

Here in the USA you can still buy all of them since the regs are a generation behind, so not only all the Yammies, but all the GSXRs: 600, 750, 1000 all in 2024. The reality is that no one is buying them anyway. Every year the last bikes on the dealer floors are supersports. During the pandemic one of my local dealers who typically stocks over 300 bikes, was down to 15 or so due to supply chain issues, and nearly all were supersports. One or two were even previous year models. No one is buying them anymore, so sadly not much choice for a manufacturer.
Not in my area. Dealers cant keep literbikes on the floor here. They usually have a deposit on them before they even arrive. Better for me anyway. Was gonna buy a new R1 this year. If they do discontinue them, that just means the price will shoot up just like it did with the R6
@@jvillain9946Buy an S1K, the 🇯🇵 don't deserve your money. the r1 is 9 years old😬
Looks like here in the U.K we may not be seeing the R9
Yamaha R4 is coming ?, 270degree twin or inline 4
I guess Yamaha is “transitioning”
🌈🏳️🌈
What does this mean for WSBK?
The upcoming new Yamaha YZF-R9 probably replaces the R1
@@Spinetap nope, JR will still going to use R1 even its out of production just like R6 in World Supersports
Yeah i think too
R7 replace R6 ( in road )
Probably more related to this net zero madness!
It's simple. Don't be greedy. If they were priced appropriately and affordbaly, then it would never die out. Prices are really stupid hence why it doesn't sell as much!
The r1 is around the same as an S1K.
Yet the r1 is the same since 2015, and the S1K is actually updated😂
@@drsrsv8884 money talks mate. People can't justify the price being equvalant to a car these days. S1k is amazing I agree!
@@Rainoman I was referring to the r1, being priced the same as an S1K.
Even though it's old.
Since you mentioned being greedy
@@drsrsv8884 regardless 1k bikes are silly priced IMO
@@RainomanEverything is overpriced in 2024. Not just super bikes, let’s be honest.
There are just so many fast bike options for consumers today. Nakeds have claimed many hearts and sports cruisers continue to grow in popularity. They are often more comfortable and more affordable than pure super sports and just as fun. Maybe more fun in lots of situations. So, I get this, but I hope they do keep a track ready version available for the track day enthusiasts.
I ride 2023 MT10 and I wonder what is going to happen for MT10, which is also equipped with CP4 engine, even though some parts of CP4 are unique to MT10.
suzuki are still selling the 2005 gsxr1000 engine in new bikes, detuning for emissions is easy
@@flytodayDe- tuning does not decrease emissions. You still have the same amount of unburnt hydro carbons escaping into the atmosphere from a 4 cylinder engine due to the circumference of 4 piston rings. That is why most bikes these days are twins or triples.

I was in a Yamaha dealership on Saturday I talking to to the salesman and he said the MT10 would not be axed
They are going to pull out of MotoGP next, little incentive to be racing when they are not selling high-performance bikes anymore.
Not sure about that. MotoGP is still the big draw for views, not really superbike. We shall see…
Win on a Sunday, sell on a Monday.
do you know how the new XSR900 GP is selling, if I was in the market for a sports bike that would probably be at the top of the list
Hopefully they update the MT-10 with similar features of the new 2024 MT-09 for its last run. I'll definitely buy one to hear that the CP4 again.
Bad news. Governments will have us on bicycles.
Not me, I have two liter bikes 😂
First supercars and now super bikes 😢 its my dream to buy these bike

I DON'T even owned or won't able to Buy in future....😅.
BUT I'm really SAD to hearing that. ( That type of ❤ I have with R1 and R1M ).
This type of ❤ is very HARD, SAD heart warming sometimes. 😒😢
Premium euro sport bikes are still selling reasonably well, but these manufactures are innovating and updating their bikes regularly, especially in comparison to what Yamaha has done with it's R1. Yamaha can hardly be surprised with lower sales when you can get a much more advanced S1000RR or RSV4 at a cheaper price.
However if Yamaha do pull an R10 out of the bag, I would absolutely love it!
Do you have sales figures for litre bikes then? The R1M sells it's UK quota even now. How many RSVs do you see on the street/ circuit?

Goodthing im leaning towards naked bike now.. im already good on my 2 sportbikes
Not to worry the EU won't be around for that long.

If they aren't selling it doesn't make sense to keep investing. Middleweight bikes are more fun on the road and a lot cheaper.
And we think the r1 will live on as a track only GYTR version - as per the r6…
Exactly, we’re in the era of the middleweights…
doesn't that just mean there will be no "updates" to the bike and they will continue selling them as a older model year bike?
Will this affect their participation in MotoGP? (Will they be looking to withdraw like Suzuki?)
End Of An Era Maybe But I Hope They Continue
So that means also CP4 MT10 & SP will go too. 😢
R9 Turbo in the works?
So basically Euro 5 and so forth is killing the fun in motorcycles. Soon enough ALL motorcycles will be banned and we go back to the days of riding horses. So sad.
no its the lack of sales that is killing the market, litre bikes are widow makers

The R11 v4?
An 1100cc v4 engine with 220hp wouldn't be anything new to the market and would probably be too costly to develop vs how many they would sell but, i wish they would make one.
The R1 is such a brilliant flagship that has run in different guises for years with the latest versions so good.. This is tragic - is this the end of the petrol superbike era ? WSB is in fine form so will manufacturers run a GYTR type programe as there are too few buyers due to beuracats and prices for the road. You can't go to a bike meet and drawl over a brand new off-road sports tourer.....help
Does that mean yamaha r1 2025 model will be the last version?
Priced same as the s1000rr , less equipment, and 30mm more seat height. What did they expect ?
and same motorcycle since 2015. I love it, but it's lagging behind. I'd buy one, without hesitation if they included a gas gauge and cruise control. Ironically the MT 10 has both.

Another sad day in the motor world
Unfortunately saw the writing on the wall therefore with $$ from an earlier mc accident I was fortunate to be able to purchase a Panigale V4 and an R1; 2023 and 2024 respectively.
I have a R1M in my garage, I’m happy with mine, Yamaha can discontinue them if they like. Might make mine more valuable 👍🏻🤣
Yeah, that is a bit of a knock on effect
While they can be fun in short burst, I think more and more people are realizing how useless a $20K superbike for the street really is. There used to be a time when if you wanted great power combined with great handling, you HAD to buy a full blown superbike. Thanks to technology that is no longer the case. For the everyday street rider there are a plethora bikes for less money that make much better street bikes, with better ergos, respectable power, and far more practicality. Most riders need to look themselves in the mirror and ask themselves, what type of riding are they actually doing 99.9% of the time. If your don't find yourself doing superbike sh!t....then you probably don't need to be on a superbike. The factories are all victims of their own success. They've built bikes that now have superbike qualities that aren't superbikes and I can definitely see more and more people choosing other options going forward.
Don't buy that 'R10' theory, makes no sense. Especially as Yamaha already sells an R15. How would the 10 be above that?😂
Shame but bikes like the R1 are no longer affordable for the likes of me and are too licence unfriendly too, here in the UK at least. An R9 would have me eating out of Yamaha’s hands though, if priced well.

What I think this is saying is there will either be a new model or they cant be asked.
But then again what did yamaha think would happen when they sell a bike that hasnt changed since 2013 when everything around it moved on?
They need to develop and keep developing but clearly only Toyota from Japan can develop the rest seems to not care, shame tbh
The real reason for poor sale is because extremely high seat height average guy wouldn't drive it plus high price nobody needs extreme level of track machine for road use
