    The happy numbers are in Halley.
    Snow depth in the 3 major river basins* that drain into Northern Nevada now range from 120% to 134% of average for 15 December. This is waaaay up from miserable averages prior to 15 Dec. The follow-on storm is dumping more snow tonight and even more snow is forecasted before Christmas.
    Please forgive me, I'm not a skier or boarder. My interest in mountain snow pack is for other vital reasons.
    Your Snow Report Channel is awesome and, I agree, Open Snow is the bomb. Thank you!
    *Truckee River which includes all of Lake Tahoe, Carson River (north and south forks) and Walker River (east and west forks) where I live.
    Best wishes to you and yours for Christmas and the New Year!

    I can report there is no snow here in Micronesia. I do miss Sierra winters and skiing at Squaw however so I’m glad to have found your channel.

    I "like" all of Halley's drops on The Snow Report. The Northern Lights must be jealous of Halley all winter long.
    The Mammoth Mtn. crew is using the NWS approved method of measuring snow accumulation. It's called a "snow board" and depth measurements followed by scrapping must be made regularly. This is the only approved method and avoids the inevitable "collapsing upon itself" that all snow accumulation experiences over short periods of time.
    Rock on Halley!

    As an FYI, it's just "Sierra", not "Sierras."

    • @TheSnowReport
      @TheSnowReport  2 года назад

      Ah, thank you! Reading into it now, and appreciate the clarification. Sierra, meaning “snowy mountain range” is a very appropriate name for an area that receives this kind of snowfall. Cheers, and have a good season Daniel.

      Well, there is the Sierra Madre… if the same storm brings snow there, then it is truly snowing in the Sierras.

    • @mrepix8287

      No, everyone says “the Sierras”, stop being weird

      It makes sense to say “I’m going to the Sierras” because you’re basically saying “I’m going to the mountains of the Sierra Nevada range”, and “Sierra” fills in for “mountains”, and because “mountains” is plural, “Sierra” should become “Sierras” because that sounds better in English. Even if the term “Sierra Nevada” is from
      Spanish, it became English since it connotes a place name in America, and therefore must follow English conjugation rules.

    Halley, Thanks for great report. Thanks especially for not including constant, non-stop, annoying, plugs for IKON. I know they are a sponsor but come on! their content is not entertaining or useful and your content has suffered as a result. BTW, I'm an IKON pass holder so I am not trolling. Merry Christmas!
