I have the same FranThom combo. I rebuilt with a 1" shaft and new 2" diamond wheels. Im able to get 4 of them in the housing comfortably. I ditched the drum on the end and polish on a maple wood disc. The saw has its own separate 5/8" shaft the original setup had a pass thru single shaft shared with the wheels. Unfortunately the saw was in bad shape when I bought it and continues to cause trouble as does the wheel housing. Its all aluminum and corrodes easily.

Thank you it’s just an old lapidary unit but it works just fine. I’m hoping to set up some more equipment in the future and share how that all turns out. I appreciate your comment

I recently (two days ago) purchased a used frantom. It uses 6" wheels and has a wheel on the right that I believe uses a leather glue on disk and polishing compound. No instructions came with it. I would love to know more about your frantom. What is the wheel on the far right of yours? Mine has the saw on the far left, two grinding wheels, and the disc on the right that I need to figure out.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The wheel around the round part will except a belt or sandpaper the flat side I use a spray adhesive for sandpaper the other wheel I have are used elk leather with a pad underneath and wire it from the back to stay on that’s for polishing compound

This looks just like my Frantom I bought about 22 yrs ago. I have all the original paperwork from the elderly couple I bought it from too. Mine is the model 10-D.V.A and it was $188 w/o motor & $224 w/motor in 1963. I just want to know if I mix the oil with anything or use it straight? Thanks

I really hoped this video would solve my problem…but it’s frustrating to me that you don’t say where you got these parts from (looked it up, ice machine kits are expensive). Also, how did you attach that valve to the bucket? Looks like you needed something to keep it from leaking but you don’t mention how.

The plastic tubing that they use for an ice machine I think it’s a quarter inch or 5/16 inch. I’m not sure it usually comes with a fitting and it has a thread. I just found a nut that would fit the back of it and cut out a little piece of rubber Black rubber to make a gasket and snugged up a washer and nut on the inside of the bucket. those were items I just had around over the years they can be found at any hardware store

You could look on Amazon or eBay. There’s a lot of different ways to put a hole into a bucket and put a valve on it. It could be a garden hose valve. I’ve done that for a hydroponic set up that I had. I cut a hole in a 30 gallon bucket and they had awasher that fit into the hole and it would allow a certain size PVC pipe to slide through it and then I could just glue a threaded fitting with a plastic valve on there a threaded fitting with a brass valve. There’s a dozen different ways to do it if you’re not handy maybe try to find someone in your neighborhood that is handy to help you figure it out.

@@RadicalRocksthank you for the response…honestly I wasn’t really expecting one. I usually am handy, but I don’t know anything about plumping or the name of all of the parts, as I did have to look them up with a lot of trial and error. Spent all day researching how to set something up, but it seems like people aren’t very good at tutorials for newbies such as myself. I don’t wanna screw up or waste time, so id like to know exactly what I’m doing before I do it. That’s really hard, though… sorry if I came off as rude. Yesterday was rough
