Knife idea: Keep all the little scraps and pile them together like the Japanese do with the Tamahagane steel. Fold it once or twice and see what comes out. Great video as usual 🎉
I think the restack really, really did that pattern a lot of favors. I’ve seen canister w lock washers (or nuts / bolts / other hardware) and they always kinda look… clonky… but this pattern looked awesome. And I think that’s bc you bothered to do a restack! 😁
What if, when you are stamping your Makers Mark on to the blade while its hot and you're just about to press it in you put a thin piece of copper sheet between the hot blade and the die..??? Maybe while its being pressed down are you able to hold there, pressed into the blade and holding the copper into that indentation and then you use pliers to rip off the excess copper so as it's being held down tight with the press your rip off everything that that isn't inside the mark.... I guess the copper would have to be pretty thin to be able to do that... and the blade would have to be really hot to weaken it enough to rip it.... MAYBE you'd have to HEAT the DIE TOO :/ ... 🤔 hrmmmm .... yea if you had both the knife and the die hot enough it would melt the copper and you'd be able to pull the excess right off.... But copper can be melted with a torch pretty easily.... so even if you don't rip off that excess.... and the copper doesn't melt or stick to the knife, you'd have the imprint in both the copper and knife PEFECTLY MATCHED..... so then you9 could just let the copper cool down.... and the knife too.... and with the copper being thin enough you could just cut it with sharp scissors and make some pieces that fit into the imprint on the knife.... then you could place those pieces in there and THEN you melt them with the torch, while they are in that indented mark... do- you think it would stick?
@JPsBladeworksASMR just the age old question of redundancy in crafts my instructor would pose this question to us facetiously when we were working on a project in the forge.
As many vids I've seen over the years I just don't get why or the purpose of damascus. It is just a design with really no practical use since these blades aren't being folded over and over to give it strength. Just a bunch of bits of metal turned this way and that way into some kind of crucible then mostly formed with a power hammer. It is almost like using ai to make a blade. No swinging hammers the old fashion way.
That came out GREAT! That handle was EMMACULATE!!! But I'm sorry to say but it's on the wrong blade..... not that it looks bad!!! not at all... it's just got so many lines, so many STRAIGHT lines that it should be on a blade with a ton of repeating straight lines.... but hey, that might actually look bad with having TOO MANY lines... you just never know until that dip... You did an EXCELLENT JOB! and I would be HONORED to own ANY blade made by you, seriously. I know this is you ASMR chan, but I would listen to your advice on bladesmithing with NO QUESTIONS.... (although, I would, just like now, state my opinions... but not to correct you, but just to get your opinion too.... OKAY, on to today's ASMR vid and then I'm off :)
No this is a different channel for those that dont want commentary. The other channel videos will continue having commentary. I upload on that channel on sundays.
Merry Christmas how about put some proper trousers on get rid of the silly slippers put a pair of gloves on and u will look like a professional knife smith
Why is it that forging videos are so satisfying? Knives made out of random steel are so cool. I watch all of them.
I also find them satisfying. I find most forging videos especially the Japanese forging with the power hammers very satisfying to watch.
I dont know who this guy is.....but I just saw some skills that Ive never seen before that were outstanding. Yall better pay attention to this guy.
Thanks for the nicer words. I appreciate it.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Merry Christmas

Glad you liked it.
Damn, dude. That's a beautiful piece. Needs the voice over though.
EDIT: I stand corrected. I didn't notice the "ASMR" part haha
I have a voice over channel. This is one for anyone who doesn't want voice over.
Wow!

Красотища !
Thank you
What's the point of pins if your using epoxy?
What's the point of epoxy if your using pins?
Either or just add extra strength to the handle. I dont use pins on my hidden tang knives and ive never had issues.

Even tho you didnt forge the blade out, its still bad ass,
Thanks

Damascus is to look pretty. Its purely aesthetic. Modern monosteel is superior depending on what steel and what usage it is needed for.

Christmas sucks!!!
🤣
Merry Christmas, was different to not hear your commentary on the video, I am guessing your voice is still not well.
No this is a different channel for those that dont want commentary. The other channel videos will continue having commentary. I upload on that channel on sundays.
Lol, I missed that as it just came up in my feed and I thought it was the other channel

Merry Christmas. Im not trying to look like a professional knife smith.
And why do you care how he looks? Are you the fashion police?
