I plan to try em tomorrow. I have been catching a bunch lately on a 3” swimbait like spark shad then I tried Zoom swimming fluke jrs. which I had plenty of and were much less expensive. I have had more bites on the Zoom. Also the 3 1/2” spider grubs came 5 to a pack for $7.98

    @stoneysdead689 2 года назад +1

    Well just tell them everything then Matt- geez!
    LOL_ Just joking- I realize at this point even if you think you have a super-secret bait- you don't. I've never used these exact jigs but- I buy the Reins radial skirts and pair them with a Yamamoto double tail grub- you have the same bait basically. Same size, same look to the skirt, everything looks about identical. Missing that secret squid scent though- if that means anything to anyone. I'm going to pick up a few packs of these and see if there is any meaningful difference. I use the Owner Rigging hooks for these- they're little wide gap ewg hooks- tiny things. I bought them for free rigging but, they work great for these if someone wants to rig Texas rig style with an ewg hook.
    Edit: As for there not being a better match for small baby craws- I would argue the zman TRD craw is a much closer match- but for some reason, they don't bite it. Isn't it odd how a plastic like this, which is a loose approximation of the forage, will often out fish something that looks super realistic? That always freaks me out.

      You are correct. I was living in Japan during this time. The machine used to produce the silicone rubber little spiders broke down. I was told it would have been over a million dollars to repair so they switched to the regular plastic to keep up with demand since they were very popular in Japan. I bought a bunch of the old school ones and definitely preferred those in terms of durability. However, the new ones seem to get bit just as much. There are some great Japanese micro jigs and trailers that probably do a better job imitating small crayfish but the little spider is a little more versatile. Try it on a short dropshot when other baits aren’t getting bit, it can be deadly.
