Yeah. I’ve never been to that state, but I lived in CA for a couple decades, and have family in AZ. That place reminds me of some areas in towns in CA and AZ. Very familiar looking and places I can see myself visiting.

Another enjoyable video from a place in Mexico that isn’t overrun by foreign tourists. And I also really like a lot of what I’ve seen of modern Mexican style in art & architecture.
Wow definitely I can see the difference from the noise pollution in central and southern Mexico compared to the north. Even Monterrey being a large city isn´t as noisy as guadalajara or Mexico City !
Thank you, David, for this new video of Obregon. The city planners marking out their street grid had a hopeful vision for the future of their Ciudad Obregon. I enjoyed this walk with you in some of the areas of this unique city in Sonora. Especially lately I've been looking forward to your shared walks through your viideos. It is a real treat for me and obviously it seems many others, too. Gracias for your work and your kindness in sharing this with us./
It's so bad though why copy the bad things of the US? We are currently trying to get away from that grid system that makes things unwalkable, it would be better for everybody if cities/towns were walkable like in many other areas of Mexico it's one of my favorite things.
Los mochis and obregon, like brothers, similar each of other but diferent at the same time, 2 great cities to live for the high quality of live and economy
Absolutely! The next video features a whole section north of the cathedral on the way to the laguna. I couldn't believe the houses. Like Beverly Hills!
This city looks similar to parts of El Paso on the lower eastside valley. I enjoy your 4K walk-arounds, not that I dislike the others. Keep doing what you do.
Was there for a day back in early-mid 90’s. Had very good tacos. Very “normal” city. It does have a more U.S. (west) feel.. wide streets, commercial, grid.. farming beyond.
Ciudad Obregon looks in some places like an average city some place in the US Southwest. It is a handsome city, there were a couple of scenes in the video that l noticed, the little boy staring at you and that alleyway with all wall art, l was impressed by the art. The pigeons are happy with that stairbridge structure in park, fun video David.
Obregón's design is like an American sounthwest city. With the difference that it is not as clean, the streets and sidewalks are in poor condition. But when all that is remodeled, it would look like one.
I meet many Mexicans and love talking with them. One young lady, a manager at a dept. store, was from Hermasillo and I remember her town when it was more a village than the big city it is today. I will likely visit her again when I drive through Mazatlan where she has a family now.
I am from Germany. I am living since two months on Obregon because my husbands works her for one year. I am feeling very welcomed in Obregon togehther with my daughter. For me the kindness from the people I have met so far is impressing.
That's great news Susanne! Many of my English students are in similar positions moving to Germany actually. It must be such a change from Deutschland! It's a shame I didn't know before, I studied German at school and college and it's been years since I've had an opportunity to practice. My Español is better now!

That is the cathedral and city hall in front. Dont forget to go to San Carlos near Guaymas. Also hot dogs on nainari street and Taco taco on the street youre staying. Miguel Aleman ave
Awesome thanks man, I plan to be in San Carlos in about 10 days. There's so much food I'm going to have to stagger dishes throughout each Sonora video, otherwise I might explode jaja
I like how you visit places where I literary see myself being in. Doing typical all day things. Saying “bye” cuando me despido! In my Spanglish dialect. 😁👩🏻
To be honest it doesn't seems that has been too much economic progress since I lived there in 80's and 90's. There is a little bit of backwards. I walked all those places, with exception of probably those alleys. Some of them look like trouble. I love Sonora and I miss the tacos. I hope for better economic times for Mexico.
Obregonense here! It was so strange to see someone walking in the same streets I walk everyday, I'm even in the video!!! Sonora has definitely seen better days, the sagrado corazón de jesús cathedral was so much prettier! It's strange to see foreigners here, we don't get many tourists (for obvious reasons) but it's nice to have you here :-D
Amazing people come from everywhere and I have visited the barrios around Obregon and enjoyed the children holding a string across the road to collect a toll - that's a big business in Mex. (Tollroads) and they are expensive!!!
Forgot to say that there was a big boom in the economy during the 70's due to the high yield ageicultural crops, hence the big homes. Dr Norman Borlaug had an experimental agrucultural station outside Cd. Obregon. Dont forget the tacos, Sonora is probably the best meat in Mexico.
Some of the houses I saw near parque Los pioneros were huge! Obregón is my base until end of May so plenty of food opportunities, lots of places I've seen I think down Veracruz, like insane beef

You must be psychic. I had coyotas in the video after this one from a place in the mercado municipal. A really big one and regular size! Cajeta and lechera
@@davidostrowski679 Hello, you should try the coyotas that are made in the towns on the outskirts of Obregón, they are very good and specifically in a place called "El Pueblito Kilometer 9". I lived in Obregón in the 90s, went to school there. The place looks a lot worse now than it did back then. You can immediately see how rude drivers are. If you liked Obregón then I assume you'll like Guaymas better. It's cozier. In general Southern Sonora has been in an economic hole for a while. Thanks for the video, David!
btw have you gone to Las Criptas here in Obregón?... I think you really should go.. but you gotta be careful!.. i can take you there if you dare!.. haha
Another idea for David - visit smaller towns, too, because they are so different in Mexico. We stayed to repair our car in Tecuala Mex. in Nararit - one guy noticed we are visiting the city and he gave me a hug sideways expressing how he appreciated us visiting the REAL MEXICO. It was a large enough town, but very primitive in infrastructure. The most popular restaurant was a pizza parlar near the main square, but you couldn't custom order, BECAUSE all their pizza was frozen pizzas - CRAZY!!! Stile, the people were amazing and honest - we just couldn't find any restaurants with much of an investment in the facilities.

That street where you crossed and saw Guadalajara pharmacy is Nainari street where you get the world famous Obregon hot dogs. Keep going north on that direction you will see the nicer part of the city. Just about any food place in Ciudad Obregon is delicious, give it a try.
Haha I couldn't find that place so I had street dogs. A guy who's been there since 1991. Was still good! I walked all the way to the laguna up Nainari. So hot
@@davidostrowski679 hot dogs vendors usually dont set up their carts until after 6pm. Then if you go walk on Nainari street you'll find many hot dog stands. I usually exercise on Pioneros park and most people do it early or late in the afternoon cause of the heat.
They need wider sidewalks, and some trees, and it would look cute. Edit - They have the space in road for more sidewalks there. Then they could put cafe tables.
you are right to put more trees, because the city is very hot, I don't remember exactly who the municipal president was, but he removed many trees to put palm trees, so that it would look like some US city, the problem is that here is more hotter and we need more trees instead of palm trees hahah
Of course the houses are going to be nice when you're going up to Zona Norte (that's basically the old wealthy area in Ciudad Obregon). It was good to watch this video and how you navigated around Centro and el callejón. I subscribe!

Delightful Obregon! I get the statue was the general himself. Someone to make Ben Franklin smile. Your observation about the wide streets is effective! It still seems a little more populated than nice old El Paso. I do like the Ciudad Obregon cathedral. It works for me. Not very brutalist in my first look. I could see the joy of Easter in its concept. Aside from the way brutalist architecture can convey a dream, I think it was usually a mistake. But like your favored industrial ruins - and like your RUclips videos - the joy of our existence may be evinced surprisingly. I'm glad you like churches. Not all areas of Mexico City or Guadalajara are noisy and poluted, there are tons of parks and green areas and quiet neithborhoods in both cities.

Gracias for your work and your kindness in sharing this with us./
That's good to know Carol! I enjoy making these ones! I have more planned on Hermosillo and Torreón
Glad you enjoyed! Got a few more walkarounds lined up
Was there for a day back in early-mid 90’s.

Yes, the cathedral won me over to interesting architecture.

I meet many Mexicans and love talking with them. One young lady, a manager at a dept. store, was from Hermasillo and I remember her town when it was more a village than the big city it is today. I will likely visit her again when I drive through Mazatlan where she has a family now.

I grew up in Obregon. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! Obregón will always have a special place in my heart!
It's strange to see foreigners here, we don't get many tourists (for obvious reasons) but it's nice to have you here :-D
Yeah I thought the same! Not used to seeing someone vlog in Obregón.
Yaa sameee it feel so weird actually
Amazing people come from everywhere and I have visited the barrios around Obregon and enjoyed the children holding a string across the road to collect a toll - that's a big business in Mex. (Tollroads) and they are expensive!!!
I like your videos!

Thanks man I'll be in Guaymas in an upcoming video!
btw have you gone to Las Criptas here in Obregón?...

@@davidostrowski679 hot dogs vendors usually dont set up their carts until after 6pm. Then if you go walk on Nainari street you'll find many hot dog stands. I usually exercise on Pioneros park and most people do it early or late in the afternoon cause of the heat.
Nice video. Yes, Sonorans are very friendly
Indeed, everyone has been great so far
They need wider sidewalks, and some trees, and it would look cute. Edit - They have the space in road for more sidewalks there. Then they could put cafe tables.
you are right to put more trees, because the city is very hot, I don't remember exactly who the municipal president was, but he removed many trees to put palm trees, so that it would look like some US city, the problem is that here is more hotter and we need more trees instead of palm trees hahah

Hola David. Soy de Cd. Obregón Sonora 🌵 México 🇲🇽 , aún vivo aquí. Me llamo Zoila.
