VI on the other hand, even though she's more basic as a character, had way more emotional scenes, like the ending of act 1, where she meets with Powder and realizes what Powder did. That should've been delivered way more emotional, yet Hailee made it seem like it was an everyday unimportant occurence the way she delivered those lines. When Vander dies infront of her, again, very monotone delivery to something that should've shaken her core. When she meets up with Jinx again. So many emotional scenes revolving around VI, yet she ends up looking like the most underwhelming character, and I really do think it's because of the voice acting. It's just ok, while all the other voice actors did an AMAZING job. Powder's VA on that act 1 scene that I mentioned was just beyond amazing in contrast. Ella delivered all Jinx's 20 lines with such emotion too, the bar scene with "Chuck" is some of the best voice acting i've seen, and it's such an unimportant, unemotional scene that could've just been voice acted anyway you want. I don't dislike Hailee, I liked her in Begin Again and Pitch Perfect, but she might be getting a bit more overhyped, as an actress she's just ok, as a voice actress she's just barely good enough not to take away from a show. And i feel that's mostly due to Riot's team, if they took a random person off the street they could make him voice act on a profesional level.

In every emotional scene she's in, she's shelled up, which makes sense given her character. It can't be in the voice acting because it's in the animation and script too. So it was definitely a directorial choice. Steinfeld has no creative control over body language. Though I think Powder outshines both Vi and Jinx. I don't know why people aren't talking about Jenness more.

Interesting to hear from Ella in another interview that she and Hailee never had a recording session together and had barely even met through all of production, which if you think about it, in the series, the two of them only actually talk to each other in two scenes at the ends of episodes 9 and 6.
If you just close your eyes and listen to them speak clearly you would picture jinx and vi standing their doing the interview instead. Now that's what you called talent their voices itself makes the characters exist.
I don't know if people in the premiere had already watched the complete show the way it came out to us. My guess is they hadn't, and that's the reason so many people were picking Jinx. Jinx is the cool concept - and, sure, it was amazingly performed in the show too. But I mean, she already draws attention from the beginning. Vi, on the other hand, gets more and more to you as you watch - and personally I don't see how one can finish it and not have fallen for her.

I know you might want to get the original Voice Actors, but that's a different job compared to Arcane. The VAs we hear in the game, but they can be recorded separately.

Yeah voicelines and acting whole dialogues and emotionally charged scenes demand different types of skill, not all VAs can do the second.
A triple kill - acting, dancing, singing. Plus, voice acting. And not just 'small' voice acting roles, but she has done some ones such as in "Into the Spider-Verse" & now this.
Oh boy, have I been missing out! Chrissy interviewing Hailee. Seeing those two interacting is a dream coming true! All we need now is them to colab on a song for season 2.
