I look forward to seeing you cut the lines and just go have fun. I'd spend the next six months doing the best you can and then finish the details enroute. Best, Doc.
Good luck. My 30 year history of these kinds of projects says you will get done a small fraction of your goal. And that's doing it full time, as I do now. If you want to leave the dock in six months with a seaworthy boat, then no frills allowed like NMEA 2000 gadgets.
Oh I think if he has the boat ready to live on then that will keep the peace. If the head and v berth and galley aren't totally ready then it will be an unhappy boat. Besides if they are going to make a life together Ava has to realize you dont always control the schedule on a sailboat, weather and how far away the correct part you need control whether you are stuck someplace, maybe even at a dock or worse yet on the hard. K think she gets that so as long as they can be comfortable it will be OK.
Athena seems like a power hungry boat with all your appliances. I think your generator problem is something that really needs to be resolved before you go cruising.

I realise you're planning a PC plotter with large screen, so maybe you won't find it an issue, but I've found that its much more comfortable to use the plotter when its directly or close to infront of your eye line.

I feel like you only just got to celebrate a little while the victory of the splash! Oh well, back to work for the tasks to cruise! Looking good Mads and I am excited to see you keep knocking down that list from 39 to zero!
Madds! Please make sure, that if You are going to use terminal blocks for DC, the wires will be screwed to the terminal instead of just hold in place with a spring mechanism. I've built few systems that was low voltage, and high contact resistances almost made my company pay a large fine for lack of reliability. Other than that, your videos are always awesome, keep up the good work!

Yes Mads, things are looking great. I will be cheering for you and your 6 month deadline. I think it’s a good goal. A little bit of a reach, but just enough to challenge you. BTW, I keep forgetting to mention. I know you want to put in more side lites, but I think Athena looks super sleek the way she is. Also, you seem to be open to suggestions. Mads, you are honestly a get it done sort of guy, if anybody can self start, stay orgnized(enough), and do the work it is you. I have faith you will surprise yourself.
Hi Mads: how about a recessed handhold for a door handle? Since there's no latch use magnetic do-dads for holding the door closed. Also, your clothes won't get caught on a door handle when passing through!

I am looking forward to watching the closing stages of your project. Cheers Ian Langley, Auckland, New Zealand. Home of the Americas Cup.
Since you already have a form for the ruder I would build another one for a spare! I watched another video where the rudder was damaged and they had no way to repair it where they were. Also, I would mount the toe-rail brackets to the hull with one bolt. That way they will conform to the arc of the toe-rail automatically.
Great work in such a trying year! Concentrate on the remaining tasks to make Ava comfy. Once she gets there, work will progress much quicker with her help. Happy crew is important!!!

While you're doing electronics, look for an external gps/antenna for a garmin inreach so you can leave it semi-permnantely mounted at/near the nav station and connected to the wifi when you're offshore :-)
Greetings from Ireland. Looking forward to seeing your work on the electrical systems. One tip I would give is to use Velcro instead of cable ties in the wiring as its reusable, and won't be sharp when you put your hand in there if cut
Great plan. Remember to mount blocks to drill into where you'll be running conduit before insulating the hull so to save yourself that post oopsy headache. With full time work on the ship you'll do well as you have a plan and the OCD to stick to it. I believe you'll finish with time to spare and account for hiccup's along the way. Stay the course brother... you can actually see the finish line from here!
Loved the progress update. When you mount the wifi/cell router, I would suggest that you ensure the antennas are oriented vertically, not horizontally.
Like the power and electronics a lot. One more essential element is ti run all 240v cables in conduit. Plastic will do although current regs may call for something else for fire resistance. Other than that, you have it nailed! Like the engine gateway. The standard instruments give very little information. You should be alble to replicate this on the cart plotter or MFD displays which is always useful (oil/temp etc ). The job list is daunting from this side of the screen but you've got good incentive and motivation for when she moves in! Good luck! Great video.
A suggestion would be to go without a generator. A high output externally regulated engine alternator, like the one planned, would suffice with the lithium batteries. Maybe add a couple of extra batteries and extra solar. The lithium batteries easily handle deep discharge and much faster charge rates.
If you are going to go with the Victron inverter Charger with you Lithium setup, I know they have a “Spiffy” display that would fit and look perfect in that empty spot on the panel
Three months to go!!! Whoop!whoop! So excited for you.👍 from this end it seemed like a pretty quick four years, actually. And now the end/start (?) is right there!! A smashing job with the channel, the boat, etc etc. Heartfelt congratulations Mads.
Hello from Ontario Canada! In typical boat building fashion, as one list ends, yet another begins. You’ve made amazing progress so far and I really like how it’s coming together! Keep it up.
I agree with albator88 don't put the booster in the electrical panel and keep the Radio as far away from the AC and DC panels as you can. o and to properly isolate the AC-panel from the DC panel you need a conductive housing. so plastic wont cut it as its non conductive. when you have a conductive housing on it you need to ground it.
I would consider assign priority to all tasks related to Ava. Probably knowing that everything in connection with Ava is ready, that will Make you feel more relaxed
I like the way you lay all the projects out. Also the list of what needs to be done. I enjoy watching how you install all the up-grade's. Will the shower be seperate from the head ? Venting how in Head ?
Enjoying your videos. Love the storyboard on the bulkhead. Have a similar list for my project Beneteau 361. Hope your able to get through most of those cards.
Outstanding work Mads! I have two things to raise. 1. Where will the keys for the electrical panel be kept? While it's good to keep curious finger out you want to be able to access it FAST if you have a problem and spending 5 mins going through the "where are those DAMN keys!?" process may be unwelcome. 2. You might want to think about some ventilation slots above and below the access panel. Can I assume you won't always be sailing the higher latitudes? You may need to dissipate some heat in warmer climates and your nose will give the first hint of trouble if things get too hot behind the panel.
Beautiful boat. You are doing a fantastic job. 2020 was a hard year. But seeing your videos made it so much better to bear. So much looking forward to this year and all the cosmetic details and the big move. Fairwinds...
That "To Do" list looked much better at the beginning of this episode Mads. Lots to do but you will get it done. Athena is definitely going to be a first class yacht when you and Ava get her done. Take care and forge ahead.
Thanks for the update! I'm very pleased with your choice for managing the incoming and outgoing wiring. I think it will really help keep it neat and clear. Ava must be really special to have you dedicate so many tasks as priorities prior to her arrival. :)
Love how this is coming out, and yes, you will work your ass off getting most of it all done before Eva arrives.......but this is Mads we are talking about......so it’s possible.....love it rock on
Great episode. I love lists I find it focuses the mind on the task at hand. Oh you need to add another job to build a bigger bulkhead so you can fit the rest of your list on it. 😁. 👍
The boat has come a long way it looks amazing. Your tasks are many but you are a beast of a builder. I have no doubt you will be ready for the big move. You have a really great motivation Ava good luck to you guys

Nav station is looking great!
Nav station looks great.
I had to take a nap just listening to you, Mads
you have a lot to do but i am sure you will be close to your time frame. have a great week as well
A suggestion would be to go without a generator. A high output externally regulated engine alternator, like the one planned, would suffice with the lithium batteries. Maybe add a couple of extra batteries and extra solar. The lithium batteries easily handle deep discharge and much faster charge rates.
Great progress, loving the project nearing completion and really looking forward to the cruising videos 👏👏
Great work Mads. Sailboat restoration videos helped many of us get through the rough bits of 2020. Keep it up!
Really enjoyed the 2020 summary - so much work done but great to be in the water and close to moving aboard. Bravo Mads 👍
Mass, your workmanship is impeccable. Alan
I agree, the hull with paint and without the port lights looks great (PDS).
Hello from Ontario Canada!
In typical boat building fashion, as one list ends, yet another begins.
You’ve made amazing progress so far and I really like how it’s coming together! Keep it up.
The final 'push' is always the hardest. Ava must be so proud of you! Great job and you can do this!
Wowza! Glorious glorious projects. You will be busy.
Home stretch! Lots or work but looking back on what you managed to get done in 2020 makes me think you will finish, you're a machine!
I would consider assign priority to all tasks related to Ava. Probably knowing that everything in connection with Ava is ready, that will
Make you feel more relaxed
I like the way you lay all the projects out. Also the list of what needs to be done. I enjoy watching how you install all the up-grade's. Will the shower be seperate from the head ? Venting how in Head ?
Thanks for another great video and I was stressing out looking at all those tasks
Hehe, I know the feeling ;) Slow and steady wins the race ... just not TOO slow ;)
Enjoying your videos. Love the storyboard on the bulkhead. Have a similar list for my project Beneteau 361. Hope your able to get through most of those cards.
If you have something that I could work on here in Lübeck, I would do that for you!
Mads, you're such a software engineer, that's all I'll say, one software engineer to another.
Beautiful boat. You are doing a fantastic job. 2020 was a hard year. But seeing your videos made it so much better to bear. So much looking forward to this year and all the cosmetic details and the big move. Fairwinds...
I bought your spiffy t-shirts! Love this channel and motivates me to work on my own boat.
You can have bus-bars for the DIN terminal blocks. In danish they are called "Lasker" if memory serves me right.
And caught up. From now on, I'll be here with the rest of the crowd.
You are amazing bro cant wait.for more and hope you guys have an amazing 2021
