- Loyal Theorists, Poppy Playtime has made a fatal mistake in its lore, and I think I found it! In searching through Project Playtime we find something that proves that the timeline of this game is all out of wack! Maybe this is something they'll clear up with the release of Chapter 3! But for now... we've got a BROKEN Lore!

Watching MatPat getting mad about a book that literally only takes up %0.000001 of the map because the book was like 5 years off the timeline is the funniest thing I've ever seen.
Especially when you consider that Poppy playtime takes place in a different universe, and that book can just have released earlier there.

An Easter egg.. but for what? Most Easter eggs are a reference to something previously known that the fandom can recognize. This book would just be a weird inclusion if it didn't relate to the game/timeline of the game.

Yep I was going to say it was a manuscript or final print from an early publisher
Other explanation one of the players character just left it and ran away dropping it and not wanting to return to get back a book
Another another explanation is that in this universe that book was published much earlier.
And boxy was confirmed in chapter 3 so project playtime is basically what happened when the factory shut down

Simple a spin-off game has no lore with the original game it’s like saying breachers the vr game is In the same world as rainbow six sige your wrong first of all and not everything has lore like fnaf that has a lot of lore but fnaf ar and fnaf world are just spin-offs to keep the community entertained

Wouldn't that realistically just be the writers? It's the writers job to make a coherent and interesting story for their games... though I doubt devs seriously bother clearing EVERYTHING they do with the writers to make sure it's all "Lore approved".
Imagine having to check if your fun little easter egg aligns with the big epic lore david from the writing team has for Poppy Playtime, would be pretty annoying...

The factory closed in 1995 when we play it's ten years later so 2005 that's 3 years of silence before we start getting the letters that eventually bring us back for them to find out and read the book. My theory is that even though it had been ten years the staff never left and continued their experiments that eventually led to what happened in the main game.

There might be certain parts of the factory that were still running. I'm not sure a company like this would be that strict about following the law.
This is a valid point. Shutdowns of massive factories like this doesn't happen all at once. It happens in segments. First would be something like the R&D department, and one of the very last would be their legal/HR/accounting department.

That's an interpretation, but it probably isn't what they were going for, just an excuse to override a mistake unless there are implications that someone was still running things on the down low in yhe early 2000s, which might actually be the basis for project playtime 🤔

Considering how there is not a poppy playtime abandon factory in real life you could say it was written in the 80s because it’s a different universe or something like that
It's possible that they tried to reactivate, running into one fairly big issue. Toys run the place now.
My theory for this is that a resource extractor probably took this book with them and placed it somewhere.
What if in this universe, the book was created earlier because it was influenced by Playtime Co.
They ONLYS SAID that Playtime co didn't close in the 2000's, but didn't say it closed in the 90's, so there is a chance it could have closed in the early 2010's. It could also explain why some files and videos in the mob channel are mp4 files.

matpat, as a poppy playtime fan, Yes they did shut down the factory in one decade ago, Despite the fact that project playtime is opposed to replicate the hour of joy and while the workers are alive, before closing down. And that is so why project playtime was made. And the player and teammates was supposed to mean that you are an alive worker during the hour of joy and completing the puzzles to help the factory still run but failed. (not sure)

Project playtime takes place after the hour of joy where small groups of workers get sent down to collect leftover toyparts while avoiding the rebelling bigger bodies, the hour of joy took place in 1995 so project playtime taking place in the 2000s is likely

It's actually possible that the project playtime it's a completely different place wich wasn't closed at the same place as the actual factory.

if I had to come up with a logical explanation I would say that in the playtime universe the book was released at least a few years before it did in our universe, but the explanation I prefer is that one of the monsters left the building and found the book and brought it back because they liked it
They probably wanted the book to be in there because of the symbolism but didn’t realize the book came out so much later
