Along with the Los Angeles session authority, it gets impossible to miss. Jarreau in its prime, together with Alex Acuna, George Canning, Jay Graydon, Lenny Castro, Jerry Hey, Bill Reichenbach, Larry Williams, Tom Canning, Richard Page, Carmen Twillie and Steve George, it's just too much to handle. In live TV, with the caliber of these players, how the world changed. I just wanna know what show was this. It's looking from 1981 or 82.
Man! This is awesome. If they had Steve Lukather in the first song and Jeff Porcaro in the second, I’d watch this video over and over and over and over……lol
I think that’s Chuck Finley on the trumpet with Jerry Hey. The horn arrangement is better than the albums version. The line up of musicians are pretty epic in this!!
This is the Al Jarreau that my ears fell in love with back in the early 80´s. Just love it, and it is very much like an old recording I used to have from Rockpalast with him and David Sanborn alternating and performing together as well. If anyone can post that I am eternally grateful.
Era un gran cantante como jugaba con su voz era extraordinaria me encanta escucharlo su música es un deleite escucharlo un grande mi querido Al Jarreu descanse en paz
While the rockers living to be a thousand the finest that our culture. Had to offer are gone not many still left but Al is an angel and his music will forever be growned in our hearts just happy to have been able to absorb his music while he was here
Al is my idol and one of my music favourites... since I've herad this performance for the first time, I wondered why he decided not to sing it in falsetto as in original... one of his rare bad decisions...
and you've got Lenny Castro (Jeff Porcaro's percussion right-hand man) on additional percussion. good eye on Paich - the camera doesn't hit him enough to tell that it's him, but I believe you are correct.
Alex Acuna on drums, Richard Page and Steve George on background vocals... can't make out the female BG vocalist though. I think it's Exile's bass player on bass.. I know he toured with Al back in the '80's.
Anybody have the SCTV version of Al singing this and Eugene Levy taking the sax ride as Sid Dithers !?! Hilalrious ! And Levy makes his ride seem so real. Thanx.
I'm from the D too! What about "Boogie Down" by Al Jarreau! Remember how DRQ used to play that to death back in '83 when they were still R&B and tryin' to beat JLB?
We love the legendary horn players--Jerry Hey, Chuck Findley, Larry Williams and Bill Reichenbach! They all got the props!
Tiffany Douglas o
The best jazz singer ever ..!

The show was “Friday’s”, thinking it was 1982. But yeah wow, these guys were cream of the crop and Al was in top form.
@@borderking59 Yeah, now I know. Some say that some Fridays skits were even funnier than SNL.
@@IronMan-tk8uc oh yeah, I agree. I thought the show was much better and the musical guests were super!
Man! This is awesome. If they had Steve Lukather in the first song and Jeff Porcaro in the second, I’d watch this video over and over and over and over……lol
And GEORGE HAWKINS on bass!!!!!
Can't get enough of the ole' west coast sound of the late seventies and eighties. It's like a rare bird, now.
This is very cool and for those who care that's Richard Page and Steve George (Mr. Mister, PAGES) singing back up. Love It!!
Wow, what a Killer lineup of musicians!. And some of best writing ever....
The joy and feel you bring to us all.....Mr.Jarreau.........We Thank You, We Thank Your Soul.....peace to all.
Queste esecuzioni risvegliano in me sempre lo stesso entusiasmo e ammirazione di quando le ascoltavo 40 anni fa.
Parabéns na Daniele por apreciar rstey cantor cantando esta música maravilhosa.
My favorite Al Jarreau!

You can tell by the hairstyle, moustache and clothing of his musicians! Très 80's
Look at the joy he chooses to express! Thank you for the example, Al.
Great performance Al and all players.
Go Al!!! The most timeless music on the planet!!!

This song reminds me hanging out on Livernois and Michigan Avenues in Detroit,Mich. in the 1980's
Live in London is one of my all-time favorite albums. I've looked for it on iTunes, but they don't have it.

Beau travail, un des plus grands chanteurs dans son genre
Muito bom !!!
Alex Acuna on drums, Richard Page and Steve George on background vocals... can't make out the female BG vocalist though. I think it's Exile's bass player on bass.. I know he toured with Al back in the '80's.

No comment. Perfection ?
Memories!
Wonderful song with good team
the Bass player is George Hawkins.
You get the sense in 'Breakin Away' that Al is irritated by the sound guys. But at any rate, what a great blast from the past.
Thak You Maester!!!.
SIMPLEMENTE LO MEJOR
All right home team,nice neighborhood!!

Ferial check this out - met de Jerry Hey horns live!
I always thought he said, "And like Barry on the mike, it gets sweeter all the time," meaning Barry White. Okay, so it's "berries on the vine...". LOL
Settled:
Porcaro on We're in this Love Together;
Acuna on Breakin' Away
David Paich and Jeff Porcaro of Toto are on here too playing
