The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is a form completed by current and prospective college students in the United States to determine their eligibility for student financial aid. The FAFSA is different from CSS Profile, which is also required by some colleges.

Hello, first-time FAFSA form filer here. I am a student and I have a question regarding the contributor (Spouse) in the FAFSA application. I have filled and submitted the FAFSA application as an independent status however my husband didn't receive any email invite to fill in his financial info. I received an email confirmation after an hour of applying, and the confirmation email didn't mention anything about my husband if he needed to file his info. We live together and file our taxes as married jointly. I am confused and I want to know what I should do. Should I wait for the invite or does my husband just use his FSA ID and fill out his info without an email invite?
Do both parents need to create a FAFSA id? or just one?

Hi. I am a parent. my husband and I are married and filled taxes jointly in 2022 But I moved to US from europe to accompany my son .My husband still lives in europe. we all are US citizens. My question is ,do we fill out the fafsa as seperated or married.?İf we file married does my husband need a FSA ID eventhought I am the solo financial contributor for my son because My husband has parkinsons and can not work. thank you very much.
Attempted to fill out FAFSA with daughter and parent part. Somehow a lot of pages do not appear to open or load and are grayed out under the review section with no access to add financial information. I was not able to see pages to add parent assets and we both signed and submitted with the pages we could access, however the application is incomplete. Frustrating and confused that we could submit form without all required information.
Tried to access Live Chat and Email options but they seem to be buggy and crashing. Really have faith that my personal information is secure!!
Why isn't the FAFSA form automatically transferring the tax information from the 2022 filed returns for the parent and student, when either parent or student goes to sign their portions of FAFSA, the financial questions don't say "Transferred from the IRS" as in previous years. Both parent and student accepted the request for contacting the IRS.

Hello, I am close to being done and hitting a stand still when it came to entering my spouses information. It says his information has an existing account, and his username and password should match his information. He has an aid advantage account, but no username and password? Please help? I've tried calling,emailing,and chatting, and nothing.
I was not able to consent as parent or even create an account. My husband has an existing account and same unable to consent. My son was able to sign and consent on his end. please advise with this part because we did get a email saying application will not be processed and contributor (assuming this means parents) consent has not been submitted. I called fafsa office and they said to try again later that system is having technical issues it seems

Called Fafsa office only to be on hold for hours and then line gets disconnected, very frustrating.I’m thinking this is some type of glitch in the system. I hope it gets resolved soon.
@@noreenmian I also called this morning, my call got disconnected, so I tried the Spanish line and was on hold for over 30 min, then got disconnected 🫣
I did try create my account as parent . Will take me only to step 3 and I's stuck. I'm unable to proceed or do next step.
Skip step 3 and hit continue it will work. Once you create your account then go back and add that info in profile. I did this and few others and it worked.
I just complected the FAFSA online but I accidentally choose the option that my parents were not willing to provide their information. Can I fix it after submitting the form?

@@kirandeep6269 Apparently you can fix your fafsa form after it's done being reviewed and you can make correction once you get your SAR.
will it impact state and federal assistance?
@@kirandeep6269 I don’t know we might have to contact the federal aid office about it. Right now I am just waiting on the SAR.
