  • What's up everyone! In today's video I wanted to see the condition of the y8 crankshaft and best way to do this is by measuring its journals. Regardless of the results, I will still take it to the machine shop. Hope you guys enjoy! God Bless.

How many boltholes for the flywheel does that crankshaft have? And which ones have 6 bolt holes? The Z6 crank?

When I bought the motor, it didn’t come with a flywheel/clutch, but this crank has 6 bolt holes.

As far as I’m concerned the y7/y8 have 6 bolt holes on the crank which is where the flywheel attaches itself onto. I’d imagine the z6 has the same amount of bolt holes? Also my bad for the late response.

@bwcp no bro its fine. I'm asking because I bought a flywheel specifically for a Y8 crank, but it came with 8 bolt holes and confused the crap out of me. On Google I just searched up a lightweight D16Y8 flywheel, and it came with 8. I had to order another flywheel with 6 boltholes. I'm still trying to source a good OEM pulley, too.

@@lawnmower6591 now I’m confused🤣. Assuming the crank on this block was og to the y8 block then yes it has 6 bolts. Not unless they swapped a y7 or z6 crank? I literally have the crank from the video in front of me here. I can shoot you a pic via Instagram you’d like👍🏽
