Her smiles are as rewarding as her playing; shows the complete person. She makes the point that the bel canto tradition which she learned in Argentina was devoid of humor. She does humor.
@lisztismylove This woman is one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. Before speaking about her arrogance and tendency to self-promote, you should check into how many young musicians she has promoted and into the support she provides (including financial) to numerous people without getting anything but requests and demands in exchange
@@ericahata2162 I couldn't agree more. I see no arrogance in her; I do see the highest musical standards which have yet to be captured in books and attitudes. I think I would like her coming for dinner. She is a gem in every way; a simple bohemian who adheres to her standards of near perfection.
what does she play from 1:59??? sounds like Libertango or something. what´s the piece? btw- I absolutely love the purity of Archerich´s joy of music on the stage.
Spanish, French, English, German, Italian, Portuguese are the languages she definitely speaks. By virtue of having a house in Brussels since the late 80s I’m almost certain she speaks Dutch. Other than that, she was apparently able to sufficiently communicate with locals in Russian in the 60s during a tour. And again I’m almost certain she has a basic knowledge of Japanese thanks to her festival in Beppu. There’s probably something I’m missing here but my point is she’s not only trilingual, she’s by far a polyglot.
