No talking, just driving. Exploring the English Countryside. A nice drive on a seemingly clear day until suddenly Snow everywhere, low visibility. This drive shows clearly how the quick the weather here in the UK can change so suddenly, from green fields to snow blizzard in no time at all! We start in leek, Follow the main road through Buxton, along the A6 to Whaley Bridge, carry on through Buxworth, Chapel-En-Le-Frith, before going down the picturesque Winnets Pass into Castleton. Do Enjoy :)

About Dave's Walks
Hi there, I‘m Dave! I've lived in the English Countryside all my life, and I love it! I enjoy walking, and couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful the UK can be away from the cities. I found myself inspired and decided to get some camera equipment and make some walking videos so I can share my walks of the beautiful countryside with everyone!
I mainly focus on small towns, villages, picturesque landscapes, rolling hills and mountains, forests and canals, all along the coastlines in England, Scotland, Wales, and who knows maybe one day further afar!
I upload every Sunday 11.45am GMT (3.45am PST) (6.45am EST) (5.15pm IST) (9.15pm ACST)

I use the free version of Davinci Resolve 16 to do some really basic editing. Mainly making sure the sky isn't over exposed. It's from Camera straight to RUclips. No cuts, no fancy business, no talking, just walking.

Psssst Hey there...
I have a second RUclips channel. It is a bit different to what I do here. Feel free to check it out.

I'm very confused about the 1 hour mark. There appear to be a lot of cars parked along the side (and occasionally people walking) yet not seeing any buildings, I can't figure out where the people are. It just appears that a lot of cars are abandoned along a road with no where to go. Are all the people just driving out to the country to park and take walks? ~From a confused American. Thank you :)
Hi there Gina! Yeah pretty much all the cars there are people just exploring the country, talking walks amongst the snow covered tops, It is a very popular place with some spectacular views, I believe their are a lot of families out taking their children out to sledge on the hills that are around. It only snows once every few years, so people seize the opportunity fast as it is often melted and gone very quickly, in this case all the snow was gone the next day as it rained in the night.
@@DavesWalks Thank you so much! I certainly understand the limited opportunities to play in the snow and appreciate you responding to my query. :)
Dave. I’ve watched several countryside drives from your beautiful country. But this by far is my favorite
england is so beautiful 😍
Those ancient cliffs and bluffs. Thanks for taking us there. Can see why so many are drawn there. The wilds.
Something unbelievable - snow in winter !!!
In the UK it's slowly year by year becoming very rare to see a good amount of snow :( but seems this year we are lucky!
@@DavesWalks In the UK people didn’t hear yet about global climat change ?
@@olivialandis1791 There's a few mentions of it sometimes on the news.
@@DavesWalks It’s always better then nothing.
@@DavesWalks Thank you very much for so many hearts. I felt better immediately. I wish you a Happy New Year and lots of snow.
Ah this brought back memories, I used to work in Castleton before Britain was abolished and the Olde Nag's Head was still a proper hotel and restaurant. Such a long time ago now.
Hi John isn’t The Old Nags Head in Edale?🙂
Love watching these. We visited from Western Australia & stayed near by for a month. We went to all these towns quite often. Thanks.
You really choose some wonderful places for your journeys.
I do my best! Thank you 😊
Lovely place...prefer the foggy snowy Road beautiful scenery dusted by snow..Great video...
Thank You! 😊
Nice scenery.
I thought I recognised that pass you drive through. Winnats Pass. A mate and myself parked up in Castleton and walked up to Win Hill and camped in the woods next to Ladybower for a bit of wild camping. Just a couple of Vango Banshee's and of course, left no trace. Went for a trek around the dam the next day. Nice part of the peaks that area, Hope Valley.
What a journey, I used to live in Buxworth, when you turned off the A6 heading for Chinley you drove past Buxworth school where my son started primary, then on through Chinley onwards round the back of Chapel -en-le Frith heading to Castleton. I haven’t been round those areas for about twenty years , but knew it all intimately. So thank you Kevin for a lovely trip down memory lane.
Sorry I meant Dave, senior moment 😂
Just imagine, you live in a poor country, and also you make 100$ per month, then you buy Xbox one for 300$ to play Forza Horizon 4 and you fall in love with this game. This is exactly what I was. I feel good when I see these sceneries and I hope one day I will drive my own car there on those roads.
1:05:31 Winnets Pass. Is my fave part of Castleton. It’s amazing how the snow from Winnetts Pass stops at the bottom and stays clear all the way through past Peak Cavern. I imagine that will be because of how warm the caves are under the ground. I’ve always found them warm on my visits. Thank you for this awesome video. X
Simply magnificent.
Lovely. I live in Sheffield, grew up in Stockport and my sister lives in Buxton, so this is all very familiar to me.
Hello Dave Shaw! If you run out of video ideas maybe do like Scottish drive or walks. Btw everytime you drive to a place I dont know (Places I never been) I just go to google maps just like this one! Love from The Netherlands.
I'm from Chile, thank you for your videos.
It's a pleasure to film them for everyone.
So relaxing.Thank you
You're welcome 😊
35:35 TO 52:44 , ONE BIG LOOP LOL , GREAT VID
Haha Definitely not the efficient way to get from Buxton to Castleton🙃, It was more just going for a scenic drive, there wasn't a planned route it. Something nice about driving without any destination in mind..
@@DavesWalks yeah you threw me off not taking the off ramp into chapel so i went along with it and realised your route when you turned towards chinley
nice drive. beautiful and clean road. beautiful trees in the sides of the road. really nice upload. keep going. stay connected. stay connected. new friend from india

Beautiful video. I've driven from Holyhead to Castleton a few times and it's great when you see Winnats pass and you know you're nearly at your destination !.
Winnats pass is forever a joy to drive down!
@@DavesWalks It is indeed. We've walked up to it from Castleton too, equally enjoyable whatever the weather :)

Such a lovely video! My partner and I were a fan of your fabulous walking videos before we realised how many of the driving vids start in Leek, where we will. We hope we'll one day spot you on a wander! Thank you for creating such gorgeous content!
Glad you like them!😊👍
Beautiful drive- thank you. Very relaxing! As close to being there as I can get for now.
Glad you enjoyed it Mike😊👍
So pretty.
Thank you! 😊
Would be scared riding a bike on those sleeky roads - especially down hill.
I love England, love from Italy
Это СКАЗКА ( суровая)? Лайк за труд.👍
Ah the viaduct!
Interesting ride especial the weather pattern going from good to bad and good lol, sadly I didn’t see any Christmas decorations , let’s hope 2021 will be a better year , stay safe xoxo
Hey there Monica! Yeah weather patterns can be somewhat dramatically unpredictable and changeable. Fingers are crossed for a better 2021 for everyone, been a roughen this 2020!
So Nice Sharing Good Job Stay Connected With Us Dear Friend See You Around
Thank you 😊
Make virtual reality videos. You are doing a great job, brother
Thank You! 😊
looks a bit gloomy day .. can feel its start colder there.. nice drive nevertheless
Yeah in the midst of winter now, very cold out. Potential for more snow!
Any plans to get up to either the Lake District or the Dales this year? Malham Cove would be a great walk... but obviously you're limited to what you can film with location, lock-down, etc.
It would be the dream to go film there, very much want to do Malham Cove and Gordale Scar, and the certainly all around the lake district! Want to do Helvellyn and striding edge! For now the lockdown has my hands tied behind my back. Only filming around my hometown until lockdown ends. Potentially could have a gap in uploads as I am running out of stuff to publish. I am optimistic though, the end is in sight I reckon.
Can I ask you a question please 🙏 is Edale far from Buxton? I love ❤️ to go to places that are so tranquil and peaceful I just love ❤️ the countryside thank you 🙏 for the upload it looks so beautiful
It's about a 30 min drive so not too far.
I live near here
Must be very cold in there?
Looks worse than it is. As soon as the sun comes out from the clouds the snow melts within an hour or 2.
Big Like 👍 51 Stay In Touche Friend
Thank you 😊
Beautiful place! Did you have the camera mounted behind the windscreen or on the outside?
Hello Adam, the camera was mounted on the inside.
@@DavesWalks Thank you Dave.
Oh ponies.
I'm late with this, but it's sad to see that you've changed the camera. I was watching your videos one by one starting from the earliest, and at one moment something felt wrong - it was the first video with gopro camera.
With gopro I'm no longer "there", walking with you, but I'm looking at yet another youtube video. Video quality is noticeably worse, compressed, blurry (even on a good 4k monitor, it doesn't feel like 4k) possibly also audio is worse. Also the colors are worse. It's hard for me to explain why the videos are no longer so pleasant to look at, why it's not so "real" anymore, maybe I'm oversensitive.
But some of your earlier videos made with Lumix are a masterpiece, almost unbelievably beautiful and I thank you for them. And no need to explain why you have changed the camera - I understand the reasons.
Btw. I was trying to find a description of gopro video quality to check if there's something wrong with me, and one of the first things I found was this: community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/Poor-GoPro-Hero-8-video-quality/td-p/675961 - the comment that Hypersmooth "will actually crop your image and lower your resolution. In lower light situations such as indoors with artificial light, it will blur your footage". But this is probably only a part of the problem (and I don't know if it's true).
Hey there, sorry for the late reply, anything with links RUclips puts into the spam section which I don't check regularly. I agree absolutely with what you say. GoPro has absolutely lowered the quality I like to put out. It's frustrated me to no end the GoPro. And disheartening as I want to maintain that high quality I started with. Twice I showed them the quality and told them the hypersmooth doesn't even work, they agreed and on both occasions and sent me a replacement free of charge leading me to think I was just unlucky with faulty GoPro's, but the third was exactly the same. Unless the camera is aimed at the sun, stabilisation doesn't work, and even at its best 4k really just isn't 4k.
As of last December I was able to save up and buy the DJI Pocket 2 and oh my what a game changer. Have a look at my recent walking videos, from Castleton at night and onwards. I really think the image quality stands up quite well to the Lumix, really good sharp 4k Image even in very low light, and the sound is fantastic too. I don't even need the external mic anymore (another thing which lowered the quality of the GoPro yet was necessary as GoPro has nasty sound quality) considering its a tiny little camera in comparison to Lumix set up, have a look and tell me what you think, I hope you can start to feel "there" now. A tough learning curve indeed for me.
I use the GoPro only for driving videos now, and I only put out a driving video every last Sunday of the month.
