Just... God damn. You know you're one of the most iconically 'burned into peoples minds' scenes in anime, when you don't even need to SHOW what happens after Eva-1 wakes up.
When you imagine the level of violence, despair and sadness in the serie, you can imagine the conflicting feelings of depression that Hideki Anno had when he produced this anime! xD
god damn i love classic zeruel's design, perfect design of destiny: unstoppable, slow moving while taking its sweet ass time, never strays from its path and lets nothing stand in its way, and most of all simple and not complicated to look at.
It's a travesty that Kaji can treat Shinji more respect and kindness when he's deciding not to pilot the Eva, than any of the girls can when he's saving the world.
He never had a sister or female friends as a kid, Shinji reminds him of himself and his brother that he lost after second impact. Same way Misato doesnt really care for Asuka because she is a girl. She has more of an attraction to Shinji because he is distant, a man and also vulnerable as her father showed in his last moments of self sacrifice to save her.
3:08 I would love to know what these guys are thinking in this moment. Hell, I want to know what's going on in Zeruel's head! What drives him to try to kill a few humans in his path with his eye beams? This moment signifies the real unknowns and horrors in humanity's war with the Angels.
When in an Eva u suffer the same pain as the eva does. Since your nerves are connected with it. So a loss of limb or damage to any body part will feel like it has happened with your own body in real even though it hasn't. That's really painful, knowing how they loose head and arms sometimes and get stabbed at several places. Imagine the pain an Eva pilot has to go through
Well it depends on the sync ratio actually - if the eva and pilot are asuka in eoe level in sync, the wounds to the eva will result in the same physical trauma to the pilot. That's how shinji was able to survive a laser beam through Eva 01 in episode 1. By this point in the show as well, asuka is in a shit state mentally, so her sync is weak and hence the pain of severed Eva arms wouldn't be so severe
He didn't do most of the damage his mom had to save him that's why this thing is way more epic in the rebuilds because he's doing what he wants to do not because he's the only one left
Kaji casually tending to his watermelons as the fucking world is about to end is still the coolest thing ever.
