I'm pretty sure the red hair is to symbolize his rebellion and being aware now, because originally he chose the color blue when playing against Gong yoo, and so did most players who ended up in the squid games, so ig red is him now understanding everything

Im pretty sure his hair is just a symbol of him wanting to become a different person. He doesnt want to resemble his past, and it probably makes it a little easier to just exist

this may be TMI, but not many people know the meaning of the title of the last episode, "One lucky day".
It's the title of a story based in the 20's of a poor couple. The husband earns money as a street vendor. The wife get's sick but they are too poor to afford medicine. She just wishes to have a nice bowl of soup (설렁탕) but can't afford it. A month into her illness, the man has a lucky day where he makes a good earning. However, on his way home, he has a strange feeling and has a drink with his friend on his way home. He buys a bowl of soup and heads home to find his wife dead. He cries " I bought this soup for you but why can't you eat it?". This is how the story ends. Exactly what happens to Kihoon.

I just realized this now, how good writing this is. I saw a comment from back then saying that by using sangwoo to kill saebyeok the audience wouldn't hate the show for killing her but instead at sangwoo, but they tried to "redeem" him by killing himself(sacrificing) for gihun to win and apologizing to him in this manner, this in turn will make the audience sympathize with him and forget all the bad stuff he did at least for a moment, that and add the "he only did it for his mom motivation" then they made the audience forgot all about him by making the old man(which is beloved by everyone) be the bad guy in the end

In the 1st episode, the old man was smiling all the way through "Red light - Green light" and he enjoyed the game even though everyone else was horrified. I knew then there was something "off" about him and it was confirmed in this episode. Also, he was the ONLY old person among all those people.... . .

I remember being so broken when the scene with Gi Hun's mom was just laying there. That there is the BIGGEST fear that I have. Literally had to pause that exact scene and get off netflix for the next 2 days.

I just binged this show and your entire season reaction. Amazing edits!! I also think the homeless man at the end was orchestrated by the old man too since the rescue came at the last minute and he saw how 456 never gave up even until the last second. This series was such a rollercoaster and the most traumatizing part was his walk of shame back home. Even Sang-woo’s poor mum rejected his money and meeting his mum already gone just solidifies how much money doesn’t solve everything.
I still stand by what I said when I first watched this show. Sang-Woo is not only the best character in the show, but the most sane and logical one. If you enter this kind of game, the most determined deserves to win.

I always thought the old mans explanation was bullshit, yes he never forced anyone but he DID pray on the people who were most vulnurable bc he knew their choices were very limited by their situations. Its easy to say "They choose to be here" when there wasnt really a choice. He's just an evil old sick man who used his money in the most twisted of ways.

What this show is about is the illusion of choice that capitalism says we have. If the system by design creates economically desperate people and then some rich guy who benefited from that exact same system comes in and gives people 1 out of 456 chance to win but 455 /456 chance of dying, is that really a choice? If the only choices are death or financial death and ruin, that really isnt a choice. Not to mention the game wasn’t upfront with them before the first game that if you lose you die. That happened what, after 200 people got killed? Yeah some choice.
A lot of people just ignore this or just don’t get it, especially in the USA. Most American people just don’t get it, I feel. Must be why that society is the way it is.
