      So why not adding a second one to the other wheel and adding approx. 1/3 of speed and power? If you mount them onto the board and make yourself a remote trigger..... and couple the trigger and two drills by radio instead of wires... :D

    Nice tutorial! Does it freewheel when you let off the trigger or does it come to a sudden stop? The folks over at Kranx sell a pretty sweet setup like this that uses a sprag gear to fix the freewheel issue (spendy though). I'm trying to use a ratchet adapter to fix the freewheel issue, but I don't know that that will be a good long term solution. Worried it will destroy the ratchet adapter after long continuous use.
    I would imagine the cordless DeWalt hammer drill would give you more speed.

  • @TheJunkernaut
    @TheJunkernaut 8 лет назад +1

    I am currently make one of these. I have the hex gear mounted to the wheel and at this point I am wondering, if you stop the drill too quickly wont the momentum of the board/you put a ton of strain on the drill causing the clutch to break? Has this been a problem for you at all or do the multiple stages of connectors kind of dampen out the affect?

    • @InspireToMake
      @InspireToMake  8 лет назад

      +Ian Morgan I set up the clutch on a light position, like 2-5.

    • @TheJunkernaut
      @TheJunkernaut 8 лет назад

      Interesting, the clutch on my proposed drill will only allow for slipping when the motor is active. I guess for now I will just have to be careful when slowing down. Thanks for the input!

      We're flattered that someone has tried to build our product. Not bad; it looks similar to some of our original prototypes. Check out the original here: kranx.ca Our patent pending PowerStik has some essential elements not seen on this build like a built-in freewheel in the drive wheel so you don't get shot off you board when the drill's rotational drive brake kicks in when you let go of the trigger. Plus you won't easily brake our flexible shaft whereas the one shown is one we tried and will last around 5 miles likely. Cheers, Tony Ward, KRANX PowerStik.

    Sweet skateboard mod! I actually just Made something like this for my longboard and it's exactly like this haha. I was wondering what do you do if you pull of the trigger quickly on your longboard? Because when I let go quickly I fly off the board because the elbow won't let the wheels spin so I fly off it. Do you have the same problem?

    • @InspireToMake

    • @mikeylama

    • @PTMG

      That's an odd question to ask.
      As long as the same bits fit in it (which they do) the only thing that would differ is the power output.
      If a car has a 180 HP engine instead of a 200HP engine does it still drive?

    Killer idea. Gotta question/idea. i have a 24v lith battery and an old 18v drill. My thought is to mount (2) 3v lights to the deck. A) to draw the excess power of the battery and prevent drill from overheating & B) Headlights for night riding! Mind you i know just enough to get me in trouble in life. Think it'll work?

    • @InspireToMake

      Good question... I have no idea ))) It might just work )

    • @tmog1000
      @tmog1000 8 лет назад

      No! The led's will draw about 6v in the right config but they use so little current that the drill will not work. Best way is just connect that battery direct but be careful u dont overload the drill ie dont let it get too hot. I give no warranty to the survival of the drill or battery so dont use expensive stuff
