DA leader John Steenhuisen has called for President Cyril Ramaphosa to take decisive action and remove Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande from office following allegations of corruption involving the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) released leaked audio recordings suggesting that service providers appointed to manage NSFAS’ new direct payment system, allegedly paid millions of rands in kickbacks to the minister, NSFAS board chair, and the South African Communist Party (SACP).
