It frustrates me to see so many recent comment (three years later cough cough) from Smash fans who still want a season 3! I know I'm one of them! NBC BRING BACK THIS AMAZING SHOW ASAP!!!! Otherwise I may reek havoc....

Such a shame. A great series with so much talent is only on for 2 seasons, and yet the Housewives and Kardashians goes on and on and on. Talk about the dumbing down of America!!!
Season 1 was fan-tastic, but season was a bit disappointing (missing 3 actors I like: BDJ, Will Chase and Raza Jaffrey) Am with u though.
Glee lasted longer and it started to suck when the kids graduated so why not this show?
The sickness of Hollywood is that they will choose banality over creativity. Sad.
Well Glee had 3 good seasons, and season 1 of Glee rated better than season 1 of Smash, which really only had one good season. Plus, Smash was more geared towards musicals which gave it a niche audience, while Glee did a lot of pop covers that could please everyone and gave it a wider audience.
Well season 2 was kind of butchered😂. Great show, but went downhill fast.
I really hope in the future that SMASH season 3 could get pick up by Netflix, like the one that they did with Arrested Development. Smash was a really great show, it sucks that NBC FIRED the first creator of season 1, she did a great job with the storyline matured and not teeny, whiles for season 2 the creator of gossip girl turned the show to a younger audience, however season 2 had a good storyline but it needed more matured storyline like the first creator did on season 1. Overall I wish in the future that SMASH season 3 would happen.
+MIXKO Smash has so much potential to be a huge success for a drama about the Theatre world. Yet, they kinda just turned it into any other drama with infidelity out the wazoo.

This number was my favourite from the whole series. The Bombshell tracks all get their fair share of play too, but this outdoes them all. I pretend I'm a Bollywood Star when I dance to this on my room lol

I know this show was often inconsistent in tone/quality as well as being inaccurate in its portrayal of the industry, but boy, do I miss it! This number is one reason why :) Thank you for sharing!

I didn't realize until today that there is actually a story behind this song.
Today I found out that this song is actually written in relation to the story a thousand and one nights (Arabian Nights). For those of you who have not heard of this story, there was a king who held his reign over Persia and Arabia. He was a great leader that was in search of one thing, a wife. He found who he thought was the love of his life and lived a happy married life for a while. Eventually, however, his wife cheated on him with another man and the king had her killed. It broke his heart that he had lost his love and he was still in search of a wife. He wanted to have a happy married life, however he wanted to ensure that she would never love, or even see another man during their married life. To do this, the king married a different young girl every day, and then spent one night with her before killing her the next morning. This way they could only be dedicated to him until the end of their days. One day, however, the king decided to marry a girl who knew of his reputation. So the night before her death, the girl asks if she could tell the king a story, and he agrees. The girl then goes into a long, exciting story that the king is enthralled by. Right before the ending though, she says that she is tired and will tell the rest of the story the next night. The king decides that it's fine to let her live one more day, just to finish the story. So the next night the girl tells the rest of the bedtime story and starts a new one, just as captivating. Before it is finished, however, she goes to bed and says she will tell the rest the next night. This trend continues for a thousand nights, filled with stories that keep on saving the young girl's life. Then, on the one thousand and first night, the king realized what has been happening, but instead of having her killed, he realizes that he is truly in love with her. He spares her life and they end up getting married.
I heard this story while learning about serials in my English class (writing, or stories that are published in pieces, where cliffhangers began). As my teacher was going through the story, I instantly thought of this song, and when going back and really listening to the lyrics, it makes complete sense. I absolutely love it when songs have secret meanings or stories behind them like this. Apparently, there is actually a book called a thousand and one nights filled with all of the stories that the girl told the kind to save her life. Has anyone read this? Are the stories as amazing as they are rumored to be?
If anyone else has heard of this story and has something to add or correct in my version, please do, I would appreciate it!
Emily Thomas , The stories are as amazing as they're rumoured to be. It's a long and thick story book full of stories about local people's interactions with demons and jinns. Every story has several story in itself that may make it difficult to keep track of the main story, specially in the longer ones. I think one of the most famous story would be Alla'iddin. The one that Disney animated too🤔🤔🤔

The girl's name was Scheherazade. I remember this name from the 'Arabian Nights'.
I read this book also when I was younger
So amazing! My dad told me to be a Bollywood dancer after he saw this. And Dev gets a chance in the spotlight.
This was a promising show, an original idea with great characters, music and I just loved the musical numbers. I could not wait to see the next episode. And then the creator left and so did al the good ideas. What a horror the second season turned out to be. Still miss it, and would love to see Bombshell on Broadway.
The creator didn't leave they asked her to go. Not sure why but I think NBC wanted it to head in a different direction to what she was wanting of to go. Then they got the crazy guy who wrote gossip girl in and it went down hill after that. So sad. Loved the show.

This is such a "feel good" song and dance routine and totally over the top, but it works! Love it! :)
Amazing! It's like a number in a musical with Indian/Arabic theme. That's an awesome idea!! I've never seen or heard about a Broadway musical using Indian/Arabic music theme. That will be great!

Favourite performance of the show so far--oh my god, what a trip. Including everyone in it makes it 1000% more awesome, I almost hurt myself laughing on my first viewing when Ellis popped out.
The top three reasons why I love this song:
1. We get to hear Dev sing! :D
2. The parts where the lyrics talk about the other characters fits perfectly with the storyline!
3. IT'S FREAKING FUN!!!

So many excellent numbers in "SMASH" season 1. This one, "Don't Say Yes..." and "Never Met a Wolf..." are my favorites. The music, lyrics and choreography for "Bombshell" are pure genius.

This is a great number because of all the vibrant colours, the smiles, and the music. I just love the subtle hand gestures of the dance, it's different from what I've seen. The music has cultural and modern musical elements which pull me in.
This is my favorite number after "Let me be your star." Sure, it's campy and somewhat nonsensical, but it's also FUN! Most of the shows in this show have half a pulse, with witty lyrics that are forgotten seconds after the final chorus. I would love more of this!

A parody of Bollywood, but still a very enjoyable bit. I miss the creativity of Smash.
Dev spent most of his time working, and didn't even talk to Karen about any of his problems in that sense. he never gave her his heart and opened up with her and then expects her to marry him when she's at the pinnacle of a stressful situation,. which he'd have known if he would actually talk to her.
Jimmy never lied about his issues, not really. he was never really anything but honest with her, and yes he was sometimes hot and cold, but he'd always end up telling her anyway and explaining it.
I saw a Bollywood performance live and it was absolutely incredible. This is definitely one of the best cast performances in the season.

I love this number the whole cast is involved but it's such a fun song. There are also several inside jokes in it, actually all through season 1 there is inside jokes that's why I love season 1 so much more. :)
Katherine McPhee really nailed this dance routine. Especially for someone who isn't verse in Bollywood dancing. And I love the song. I'm going to miss Smash so much. :(
This scene shows such homage to classic musicals when they would have random group numbers, at once it ties in to the story but at the same time it's a burst of random musical amazingness! I know there is a technical term for this... I'm drawing a blank, oh well. I LOVE THIS!

This scene totally took me by surprise. I would have never expected from Smash to do a scene like this. But I LOVED it. Choreo is awesome, and the singing, oh, the singing, even better. I am glad they finally had Raza Jaffrey to sing. We definitely need to hear more of him.

But Dev Honestly Loved Karen, he was always supportive of her, even when her own career came in conflict with his own and resisted that siren, Yes he made a BIG mistake, but she left him after he proposed, which usually=breakup. But still after she was finished with him, his final shot was not of anger but of joy, he smiles in admiration and pride of Karen, happy that she finally was living her dreams!
Karen was always there for Jimmy and rarely if ever the other way around.
This still makes me very happy...a gift from SMASH to enjoy!!!
