Clara Lieu was an Adjunct Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design from 2007-2020. Her artwork has been exhibited at the International Print Center NY, the Currier Museum, Childs Gallery, the Davis Museum, and more. Lieu received an artist fellowship from the MA Cultural Council, has written for the NY Times, and lectured at Brown University, the NAEA conference, and in Vancouver & China. Great demo. Thank you. The putty eraser is one of my favorite tools in drawing whether with graphite or charcoal.
The graphite is just not catching on the paper because you just coated it with graphite piwder which is making a slippery layer. So your base gives no bite or grip.
That's what I would guess based on my own playing around with such things.
I meant powder not piwder, sorry. So yeah, powder.... 😊.
If you're worried about the glare, they sell matte graphite pencils. I have seen them from Faber Castell. Not sure how much of a difference they make, but could be interesting.
I think is a waste of time the beginning, just do it the normal way why star a different way went if you just traced lines and whites and darkness
how 'bout a Hake brush.... it works good for me seems to spread more smoothly without as much streaking..
