Are any camper vans truly 'crash-worthy'? These are complex low volume vehicles and bed testing is only the beginning. These vehicles have cabinets surrounding passengers loaded with items. In the event of a crash, I suspect the cabinet doors will not remain secured and items will turn into flying projectiles. I wish there was greater education to camper van owners about not exceeding payload because an unstable vehicle is more likely to fail/crash under heavy load with passengers and gear. Thanks for the video.
In a previous video I discussed insecure loads etc. Education is indeed required, the manner in which some people pack their vehicles it’s concerning. Many conversions have latching doors which will keep contents contained. The question is what force could they take. It’s the loose items that are a problem and as others have mentioned, those having kitchen knives on a magnet behind the driver is an accident waiting to happen
There are loads of driver failings also and they can be seen on a daily basis. Overloading, dangerous packing, driving using phone, speeding, non load rated wheels and tyres etc etc, however a poorly converted vehicle in the first place could add to the problem. We are never going to remove all risk, but the more risks we are aware of, the more we can rectify 👍🏼
I’ve DIY worked on cars for 30 years, engine swaps, restos etc. Thought about converting a van myself with kits out there, but it isn’t worth the risk. I’ll be looking for a conversion by proper firm, not one man outfits you see selling newly done vans with lots of miles on.
Just trying to prevent some serious doom and gloom. If it helps someone, it’s been worth it. Anyway, no more “doom and gloom” planned for ages now 🤣 Some nicer subjects 😃

Some very good points raised here, but surely driver failings must be a bigger factor!!

Good subject to cover, many thanks
The last thing most vanlife folk think about it what's going to happen in a crash....
Too busy "living the dream in dreamland"...
There is no pass or fail on a m1 pull test
It isn’t a crash test if you want a van that’s safe must be tuv tested
Regulation will come and the cowboys will no longer be around 🤞
Hope so. There are a lot of poor conversions around
Nothing but doom and gloom these videos 😂
