Should I install the ccm client in the Gold image and delete the sms cert and stop my sms service prior shutting down or should I push the ccm client to the dedicated VDI via GPO. This is so I can magange 3rd part apps not included in the core apps in Gold imaged. And Windows and Office updates is it done manually every patch Tuesday? I have created a SCCM Task Sequence to test Vsphere pxe boot to image gold image.

How do you deploy the gold image to other desktops in the pool ? Or do you just clone them and rename the desktop ?

You need to follow the same which i have done otherwise it will not work
