Avatar is such an amazingly well made show. In just a few seconds at the end of the episode it manages to stir up so many feelings. Even "side" characters like Mai and Ty Lee get a moment to shine!

Considering the flashback from the Zuko Alone episode in Book 2, Azula should have realized Mai and Ty-Lee would have a closer friendship. Azula knocked Ty-Lee over when her acrobatics were better than her own, and she put an apple on Mai’s head and lit it on fire. THAT’S her idea of fun! I’m sure these girls bonded even more over the years from their shared trauma from Azula.

Great reaction. Banger two-parter with some of my favorite lines. Zuko's "I'm never happy" and, of course, "That's rough buddy." Also love "I'm a people person" from Azula and last but not least Mai's "I love Zuko more than I fear you".

Great job clocking the change in Zuko's bending! Zuko not grunting/yelling while bending after meeting The Masters is something people seem to miss on the first time through.
Love this 2-parter, amazing episodes as usual, and great reaction!! The Mai and Ty lee betryals have been hinted at for quite some time. When Azula first recruited Ty Lee from the Circus you remember how Azula said she was gonna "stay to watch the show" and Ty Lee had this worried look on her face because she knew how Azula behaves - a bully who uses fear tactics and power to control you and get what she wants. After Ty Lee's performance she was going to stay and wanted to make the Circus more dangerous and Ty Lee caved and felt compelled to join Azula. Then near the end of Book 2 when Azula and the girls were dressed as the Kyoshi Warriors in the Earth King's throne room Azula said something like "It’s terrible when you can’t trust the people closest to you." and Mai and Ty Lee just exchange a look with each other like "uhh, yeah...", I'm sure deep down they didn't like Azula, they just hung around cause Azula's always been a controlling person, and she's the Fire Nation Princess so they probably felt kind of stuck. Then in another episode Azula wanted to talk to Zuko alone but Mai was there all cuddly with him and she made up some excuse of Ty Lee needing help unbraiding her hair and Mai says "sounds serious" and gets up to walk away but as she passes Azula she gives her a side-eye look like "b*tch...", LOL. It's definitely been boiling up to this moment with the double betrayal and we're all here for it.
100%! I would have blew up a lot sooner than they did…but it was also the perfect time to do it! I love the line “I love zuko more than I fear you” AMAZING!

It’s a universal reaction to Ty Lee in that moment coz we’ve always want her to do that especially to azula. She’s just stronger than all of them including suki. She’s a anti benders and even suki a non bender can’t beat her so she’s the strongest there.
She was conflicted and under by azula. Her potential was always under
that english idiom at 18:09 "Because I'm a people person" is different at Turkish.. We usually say for this situation like "Because I'm a jeweler of people or goldsmith of people" you know A jeweler or gunsmith always knows how much valuable or wortless a jewel is, that's the same situation about people.. Because of this our idioms like I'm a jeweler/goldsmith of people :))

Yay I love these! My friend and I watched this one live a long time ago when we were kids. When Ty Lee attacked Azula, we both screamed, "OH SHIT!" and got yelled at by my dad for it 😂
I'd also like to recommend/request a show for y'all to react to while I'm thinking about it: Demon Slayer is an incredible show and a fantastic entry point into anime due to its near-flawless execution of a relatively simple plot with multifaceted, emotionally complex characters. Its also more popular than the bible rn. Based on how you both engage with emotionally complex characters in this show, I think it's a home run for your channel whenever you want it.

First time I watched these two episodes I was a little frustrated with them, I mean Zuko helping Sokka to break his dad (and Suki!) out of jail is nice, but the story is a little predictable. Did they really need two whole episodes for that so close to the end? And then the whole switcheroo and it turns out the second half is really about Azula, Mai and Ty Lee's toxic relationship coming to an end. Didn't see that one coming! It was all so carefully set up in "The Beach".
I actually got the met Greg Baldwin. The guy who plays uncle iroh And he's a nice guy and I give him a bag of Cheetos. And he gave me a free autograph.
