Canadian here. For Bombardier, it’s the second prononciation. It’s the last name of the founder, Joseph Armand Bombardier. Also, any Ski-doo fans here? You have to thank that guy for them as he created them after he made his snow cars.
That is correct. To call it Bomb-ba-deer is a DOUBLE misproniciation. It means your silencing the first R and the pronunciation of the last R. It's a French name so you would be wrong twice.
To 5he narrator of this video - there is no,picking the pronunciation - the correct and only pronunciation has already been said! I’m married to a retired aerospace engineer and I learned the correct way many years ago - and I’m not Canadian!!! Narrator needs to learn!!!
The TriRail car is wrapped and, judging by the lack of wrap around the cab area, it was probably going to get re-wrapped (or at least freshened up) before going back into service. Bomber does the 1472-day inspections and a basic once over but the wrap is done locally in SoFlo. As for the windows I don’t know what they use on TriRail. They may be cleanable.
South Floridian here who uses TriRail all the time (I just used it yesterday). I believe you're correct. They must be easy to clean and/or repair since I never see graffiti on the cars. Either that or they have VERY good security at the yards.
@@larry4111 When I was with Brightline they had a vendor who would come in and replace the wrap every few years (I forget what the exact schedule was). They would also come in and overlay the promotional wraps and remove them when scheduled. We, on the other hand, had swatches of all the colors to patch over the inevitable nicks and scrapes that come from daily operation. As for TriRail security, all the yards are fenced and patrolled.
When people stop viewing graffiti as “art” and call it what it is - vandalism - maybe there will be some consequences for the perpetrators. Simple rule of thumb… if it’s not yours, hands off. I watch a fair amount of rail videos and I see a lot of graffiti on the sides of train cars. Why? There’s no reason for it.
Agreed. Graffiti is vandalism. I have seen 18th Century buildings in Lisbon & 15th Century churches, farm houses & entire condos & apartments in Spain & Italy vandalized by these narcissist morons. It’s not ‘art.’ It’s not ‘street art.’ It’s not ‘public art.’ It’s self-aggrandizing narcism by shallow, infantile minds with no conscience & absolutely no respect for the property of others.
OH WELL?!?!?!?! That may be the whole problem in this country today. Criminal activity? Oh well. Wouldn't it be nice to see some kind of resistance to criminals and their activities?
The design of the first bilevel coach dates back to the original manufacturer, Hawker Siddeley hence they were in the passenger car manufacturing business. When they entered into financial difficulties, they were purchased by the Province of Ontario and became UTDC - Urban Transit Development Corporation. This was necessary to guarantee the supply to GO Transit of high capacity coaches that didn’t require longer platforms to meet increasing ridership demand. The taper on the ends of the roofs were to accommodate future electrical pickup equipment. At some point Bombardier acquired UTDC and their brand was added to the newer versions of these bilevels. Older cars have Hawker Siddeley, Hawker Siddeley/UTDC or just UTDC builder plates on the inside wall or end doors.
Nice to see: Passenger carriges being delivered, likely for commuter-rail and adveryising, by tag-alongs with freight train. As to grafitti and vandalism on rail cars: If recall well my older aunts & uncles mentioned they first saw graffiti, vandalism on rail cars on buses, urban subway, commuter, passenger, and freight cars in NYC, NY, NJ, PA in late 1960s on.
3:25, a repainted Bombardier coach just got out of the paint shop and gets tagged for no reason. This happened with a UP SD70ACe unit, a not long ago with a new paint scheme, and gets tagged shortly after. I don't know how, but I saw it in a grab bag video of it on Virtual Railfan RUclips channel. I don't know what's the video name is, though.
So the video title only made sense in the last 15 seconds? And we really didn't get to see it? GR8T video but recommend changing the title a bit as it's off track :O) Cheers
Drawling on RR cars is gross. Like the city with spray paint and scribble scrabble on everything. Only one I liked was. F B-den mark which made me laugh, but generally disapprove. The sentiment was truthful due to how each new CEO continues to hurt our nation on favour of other agendas. Sickening. Anyway thanks for the tape.
Jim that was my experience as well in Amsterdam. The construction companies pay artists to paint the scaffolding panels there to remove the ugly from construction sites
In the UK .. we call them : Bomm- barr - di - A ... ( @ their factory in Derby , England ) ... and ... as for ( street art , graffiti ) ... at least it helps stop some RUST on the cars ( ? ) ....................... DAVE™🛑
Sadly, some people call this shit art, including some so-called railfans. I wonder how they would appreciate the “art” if it was done on the side of their house or on their automobiles.

You know what's really rare now is that Consolidated freightways trailer sitting next to the main line,, said that CF is gone

Hats off to that old Consolidated Frieghtways (CF) trailer
You beat me to it!
Bombardier is a Quebec-based company, so its French "Bom-bar-dee-ayy" pronunciation would be the correct pronunciation

Well then the allies did call Ypres (EE-PRAY) WIPERS in WW1.
@@weasel6535Well, it´s IEPER (EE-PER) as it´s a Flemish city, not French (or Walloon). Some of us are kinda principle on this matter

Graffiti is the sign of a decaying society.

The people who paint vandalize the cars, i just don't get that they need to do that.
I took a picture of that exact TriRail car in Hagerstown, MD. back in January.
vandals only care about destroying.

Well, some people have to deface things as a form of communication. It shows their contempt for other people and organizations.
Never repainted, been tagged since 2016 when it left the property
Like 👍 beatiuful video, greetings from Asturias 🚂🙋♂️

Why are there two passenger cars at the end of the freight train? Are they for the reserve train crew, or the workers who unload the boxcars?
Consolidated Freight Trailer. Started in 1929 ceased operations in 2002
Vandalism it’s like idiots run free in ‘murica .
Wow , old "Consoladated Freight" trailer. ( reminds me of the old Richfield OH distribution center)
Hi Trains21 & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Trains21 & Friends Randy
Great Film AC 👍
Shuttle moves on end of freight here
Nice video!
One man's art is another man's graffiti.

Deface it with graffiti.

Wow cool. I saw the Tri Rail sitting in the Enola yard last December I took a photo of it. And yes it had graffiti on it. I captured it along 11&15
Passenger cars on a freight train wow.
You said it best. Oh well, why did I watch this?

a mixed train in 2024...
The best graffiti I ever saw was when I was riding into Amsterdam by train. Very artistic. Put the crap I was used to in Los Angeles to shame.

Terrific video! I have seen some CSX Trains hauling Marc cars.

In my 30 years experience as a railroader, the vandals seldom vandalize rusty cars. They usually pick the nice shiny ones.
Graffiti is not art ! 🤮
It is a crime !

That’s awesome, commuter trains are so boring the graffiti made it all worth while!
Bombardier is French--BOMB. BAR(soft “r”. DEE. YAY.
