How they consider everything else primitive and utterly inferior, seeing their violent conquest as the closest these creatures will ever get to share in their power. How they demand to be honored as a destroyer and superior lifeform, an inevitable bringer of doom. I also adore how Elfillis is portrayed both in the lyrics and Forgotten Land as a whole. A being that subjugates world after world only to consider what they're doing righteous due to them being perfect and all others being too pathetic to be left alive. They have a heart/conscience big enough to become its own person but they still choose to go on this path of destruction. It is astounding how highly this being thinks of itself and the lengths they are willing to go to in order to continue their dimensional tirade that had been halted for so long.
@@castform7 Fecto Elfilis having a genuine good side is one of their best aspects to me. They are genuinely capable of positive emotion, yet even before they're captured and Elfilin is split off from Fecto, they're a planet-destroyer from the word "go". An arrogant warrior with an inflated sense of self and an axe to grind against the universe simply for being weaker is simply what they are, even if you don't remove their inherent goodness. In a series filled with villains that are tragic and/or doing evil against their will, redeemable and friendly towards our heroes, or just inherently dark without any capability to even be anything else, Elfilis stands out as a monster entirely out of their own free will.
@@GalvyTheTom Completely agree. You have people like Dedede and Magolor who changed their ways over time. You have Dark Matter literally being incapable of feeling positivity and being actively hurt by it. You have Sectonia and Haltmann who were mostly victims of tragic circumstances and had their minds corrupt far beyond repair. Even the Beast Pack in the same game were chilling until Forgo got to their minds. This monster however is just a bad person. It had the capacity to care and as far as we know it has had no turmoil until it faced the consequence of choosing the wrong planet to rain its wrath upon. With or without its heart, Forgo doesn't want to change its ways. It is selfish, vindictive and destructive on their own volition. The only way to stop it was to violently beat it into complete submission cause nothing would ever change their mind on their actions. I think Kirby pulled off an idea like that perfectly.
@@castform7 I think the best encapsulation of this is Elfilis' response to Elfilin being split from them once again. They are so infuriated by this, so offended that someone would even dare, that they teleport Planet Popstar above the Forgotten Land in an attempt to destroy _both_ worlds. How spiteful, how arrogant do you have to be to respond to defeat by destroying your opponent's entire planet in petty vengeance? Fecto Elfilis is the answer to that.
"Cry out your fears to the gods who can't hear your last fading pleas. I am the one who has deafened their ears" is such a sadistically cruel line. Elfilis is basically telling everyone that they can pray all they want; they're still going to die because Elfilis personally made sure that there was no one left save them.
It's so jarring after so long of essentially listening to Juno's on repeat to hear Stelyos singing different lyrics to the same song. I love the addition of the chorus though!! Both lyrical adaptations are fantastic!

@@Real_Metagross probably, they were one to get around and assuming dark-matter existed before the ancient's left then Elfilis probably encountered it at least once.
Everyone’s pointing out Fermi’s Paradox Answer, but I love how the other attack names are referenced as well (The spear Antares, Kuiper Belt, Moon, Sol, Orbital Pulsar)
3:37 For those who don't know this is refrencing the fact one of Fecto Elfilis's attacks is called "The Anwser to Fermi's Paradox." The Paradox is that despite the vastness of the universe there are no signs of alien life. The solution proposed by the game is that the reason we haven't seen any alien life is because Fecto Elfilis got to them first
I thought it was called that because alien life might be hostile and it's better if contact is never made since Fecto Elfilis is evidence that not all extraterrestrial life will be peaceful.
@@mewtwoinchernobyland then we see the opposite with Kirby, a god-like being who cares less about destruction and more about making friends with everyone and everything. Insane polar opposites between these two beings.
I find it amusing how at first, Fecto talks like they’re this unstoppable god. But when Elfilin gets removed, They starts talking like a petty loser who just wants to win.
Kirby stripping it of what it needs to keep going and leaving it unstable probably snapped something in its brain and made it go "screw this and screw you *specifically"*
For anyone who doesn’t know what Antares is, it is a red star in the constellation Scorpio (The Scorpion). It’s location in the constellation make it seems as though it is the heart, hence the line “Strike now, Antares, scorpion’s heart”.
There's such an emphasis on duality here that I really like. Fecto Elfilis is two beings but the duality is also with Kirby. Fecto seems to see Kirby not as some weakling, they see Kirby as the only actual equal here. They're both extraterrestrial invaders, in their eyes, who are superior to this meaningless planet and everything in it. When they say why do you oppose unity, it's not just from splitting Elfilis from them, it's Kirby refusing their offer to wreck the planet. Because why would a god like them, an equal to them who traveled the world and brought them back together, protect a miserable rock?
Fecto Elfilis: I am a GOD, you daft creature! Kirby, realizing "vehicular manslaughter" also spells "vehicular man's laughter": But what is a god to a godslayer?
I'm fascinated by the pronunciations used for the Latin here! (Language nerdery incoming) For those who aren't already aware, there are two major pronunciation styles of Latin we use: Classical, which is more or less how Latin was formally spoken in the era of the Roman Republic and Empire, and what is usually taught to Latin students; and Ecclesiastical, which is more often used in religious contexts and has a lot of the 'fun' sound changes you see in a lot of European language spellings (e.g., soft c's and g's). Most Latin choral vocals tend to lean toward this latter pronunciation, as far as I've heard. But here, neither style is adhered to perfectly. Best exemplified, I think, by 'vincit'. In Classical, this would be something like 'winkit'; in Ecclesiastical, it would be more like 'vinchit'. But here, the chorus pronounces it as 'vinkit' (or at least, the most prominent voices in it do), which doesn't squarely fit either style. The line 'igne natura renovatur integra' also shows it well: were they only using Classical, the third word would sound more like 'renowatur'; were it Ecclesiastical, the first word would sound more like 'inye'. (I'll spare you any more examples, but there are several more in the song). I'm not complaining whatsoever, of course -- in fact, the pronunciations they use here are how I myself would prefer to pronounce them, an anachronistic combination of the two styles that, most notably, has a 'v' sound but does not soften c's and g's. It's genuinely great! But I do have to wonder why this pronunciation style was used - If it was a deliberate choice on the part of the lyricists or singers with a particular thought process behind it (which I'd love to hear about, if so!), or if it's just what was defaulted to (which is perfectly fine, too), or even if it's, like, some Secret Third Style I've been hitherto unaware of (which, elaborate? Please?)! (Language nerdery ends here) On a slightly separate note, I do love whenever songs get an excuse to include bits of the 'dies irae' poem in their lyrics! Great work as always, y'all!
You all remember when this franchise used to be about a pink puffball trying to get food back from a penguin king? It's very impressive to see how far we've come since then.
Kirby's expression of "this again?" really ties the whole thing together. all of this boasting falling on the deaf ears of one who has encountered worse. have a good day.
@@gotekeeper9519 to me he looks frustrated, not only because he has to deal with this kind of thing again, but because it has his friend as a hostage, and you don’t mess with the pink puff’s friends.
But there's the irony of it. Fecto said they had deafened the ears of the gods... And we all know the most god-like character in the kirby franchise is. So in other words Elfilis did deafen a god's nonexistent ears... It's just said god was currently right Infront of him and wants his friend back no matter how much Latin is telepathically spoken to him in his head.
As intense as the latin lyrics are, and as impressive as this fallen angel's wrath is, I can't get these four words out of my head. *And. Here. We. Are.*
1:10 Some people see Kirby's face as one of annoyance, however I see it as a look of determination. Determination to save his friend, even if it means putting this self-proclaimed ultimate lifeform in it's place.
If I had a nickel for every time Steel voiced an Ultimate Lifeform, I’d had 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice (not that I’m complaining, he did a great job both times).
3:37 This lyric is in reference to Elfilis' meteor attack being named: "Fermi Paradox Answer" in the files (according to WiKirby). The Fermi Paradox is basically the question of "why have we never encountered aliens?"... Much like the attacks name, this lyric is raw as Hell.
Considering the vast amount of genocidal or near genocidal creatures Kirby defeats, I would say Fecto Elfilis is one of the most deadly as just for that attacks name shows he’s omnicidal and already done enough of that.
I have no words for just how awestruck I am listening to this song!! The vocals from both Stelyos and the chorus makes me feel like Im ascending and the art is SO PRETTY! Thank you everyone who worked on this masterpiece! ❤️
"Cry out your fears to the gods who can't hear your last fading pleas" (6:59) ... dude, you're talking to a pink puffball who is in every right a god AND a god slayer.
I had a feeling this more recent final boss would be included in the Musical Bytes. I don't know why you chose to have the vocals go so unnecessarily hard for a Kirby song, but I'm so glad you did. This is the most power I've ever heard go into Steel's singing, and that's saying something cuz Megalovania exists on this channel.
I like that as the fight went on, Fecto himself seemed to realize this little creature was more than he seemed, even recognizing them as similar, "I'm what you could be if only you tried." He knows full well by that point Kirby could do the whole world destroyer thing, and assumes its just lack of effort that he has not rather than Kirby just not being interested in such things.

I don't think I can properly describe how insane the usage of Latin - sung mostly by a choir, no less! - drives me. In a really, really good way of course. The lyrics sung by the choir really bring to mind followers of a god singing their praises, and really, isn't that what Fecto Elfilis wants? That's always the vibe I've gotten, anyway. A powerful being who is on the cusp of godhood - they only need prove their power. And being angry at being sealed away for who knows how long is understandable. But Elfilis made one mistake: they targeted something under the protection of Kirby.
There’s a lyric I really like in this one. “paying for the sins of the father” it has a double meaning one the sins of the society that jailed them. Additionally the father is a title used to refer to god. Elfilils obviously sees themselves as a god, considering the angelic references and the Latin used. So it could mean Kirby is paying for Eflilis’s sin
Definitely as good as Juno's. Very different and distinct despite the same lead voice. I particularly love the addition of a backing chorus for the high notes, I think this song requires it. There is almost always 2 or 3 tracks playing at once, especially in phase 1, and the highs are usually part of one of the tracks that's otherwise less prominent. I’ve found that just one singer usually struggles to replicate this. The same holds if you try to hum/whistle the song; I still can't make it sound right because I can mostly only follow one track at a time and a backing track usually shifts to fronting for the highs. The backing vocals allowed this cover to follow these shifts much more easily than Juno's. Where it doesn’t necessarily improve on Juno's is in musical-lyrical correspondence. I'd say both rate about the same. Both definitely have places where they don’t seem to be trying too meticulously to place a syllable on every note, the way covers of shorter and less complicated music tend to do. Syllables get misplaced and feel like they're not on anything in particular in both. But interestingly, many places where the Juno version hits the 1:1 lineup for a full line or longer, this one misses a few beats, and places where this one hits, that one misses. Taking the parts where each one is hitting on all cylinders and putting that together could be a really interesting exercise and result in something like a definitive performance. But hey, I'm not a musician nor a music theorist. I certainly couldn't do any better, I can’t even whistle this kaiju of a song very accurately, I can only imagine what better might sound like. Both of these are total bangers. Steel is now the canon voice of Elfilis to all of us. Bravo sir, thank you for your service. And y'all can have that interlude. Two extremely different takes on it between the two covers, both totally reasonable ones and both absolutely going their own merry way. Proves what I suspected all along: that shit is structureless and unfollowable. The very idea of lyrical correspondence abandons all hope there; it can only work as backing, pure and simple. I don’t even think I know the tune halfway in my head, and it's been over 2 years now. No thanks, I'm done 😂
I heard Juno's first, and was confused by hearing steel again Perfect voice for the interstellar rat committing genocide Also, the Latin caught me off guard, but it's fits really well
I love how you represented the dual nature of Elfilis through the references to binary stars and Luna and Sol. Especially the latter given the massive differences in size and influence between the two, just like those between Elfilin and Fecto Forgo.
it physically KILLS me that the latin pronunciation is ALMOST perfect if not for the "vincit qui se vincit," which should be pronounced "veenkeet quee seh veenkeet" other than that, this is the best latin pronunciation ive ever heard in a youtube video

Alex took a page out of Monster Hunter's book and decided to add a whole Latin choir to let you know that this is REAL SHIT. I love how different of an approach this took to Juno's, both versions are wonderful. They each have their unique charm, as if Alex's is what's happening on the battlefield itself wile Juno's is more of an internal monologue. It's a lovely duality and I am SUCH a fan. Incredible work on both parts and it's great to have more Elfilis music in the world!

I’m curious how well this and Juno’s versions could be edited together since the voice is the same. Regardless, this is a banger. I love how soft spoken Elfilis is here for the most part.
The Dies Irae motif is actually an interesting choice, not only because of the apocalyptic threat Elfilis is, but it also applies to Kirby, as they are Elfilis' judge. A similar case applies to Morpho Knight, as they seem to serve the role of judge over the dead.
A lot of people are quick to reference phase two attack as “The Fermi Paradox’s Answer” but I would like to point out that the song title “Two Planets Approach The Roche Limit” is a similar reference, referring to a point where a heavier planet overpowers a smaller planet’s gravity tearing it apart.
Y sin embargo, Fecto Elfilis no esta ni en el top 7 de seres mas poderosos en el lore de Kirby xd
Yeah same. Hearing Latin at the start instead of "gaze upon the angel's might" did feel weird but in a "this is new and I'm so into it" sort of way.
One cannot deny how much power Steel can deliver. It just proves that no one else can represent this thing any better
@@castform7 Agreed. It felt off, but not so much so that the cover felt bad. Just different.
Agreed that the lyrics being different was really jarring at first, but Steel is honestly a perfect choice here, as far as I'm concerned he is Fecto.
Yep
I like how Elfilis, despite bragging about its perfection, also acknowledges Kirby is no complete rando as it says “I am what you could be if you tried”
Still trash talk… but also accepting some minimal admiration in the middle of the other insults
Less trash talk, it's more like he's admonishing kirby for not pursuing his full potential or/and for not laying claim to his world.

For those who don't know this is refrencing the fact one of Fecto Elfilis's attacks is called "The Anwser to Fermi's Paradox."
The Paradox is that despite the vastness of the universe there are no signs of alien life.
@@mewtwoinchernobyl that's valid! I just think the "Elfilis killed them" works better with the answer to the Fermi's paradox being a meteorite
I've always wondered where this attack name came from. I think someone said it was in a guidebook somewhere.

What about “for the light of the binary star”? Is there any reference in that?
@@pikpikgamer1012 Antares is in a binary star system.

I'm fascinated by the pronunciations used for the Latin here! (Language nerdery incoming)
For those who aren't already aware, there are two major pronunciation styles of Latin we use: Classical, which is more or less how Latin was formally spoken in the era of the Roman Republic and Empire, and what is usually taught to Latin students; and Ecclesiastical, which is more often used in religious contexts and has a lot of the 'fun' sound changes you see in a lot of European language spellings (e.g., soft c's and g's).
Please?)!
(Language nerdery ends here)
On a slightly separate note, I do love whenever songs get an excuse to include bits of the 'dies irae' poem in their lyrics! Great work as always, y'all!
Bro really went ‘If I can’t win I’ll just kill us both’ the spite move… *sniff* couldn’t be more proud
My favorite part is from 6:45 until the ending, and that "Elfilis, the end of life!" was absolutely amazing, so powerful!

Heh...the ultimate hit and run!😈
3:37 This lyric is in reference to Elfilis' meteor attack being named: "Fermi Paradox Answer" in the files (according to WiKirby).
The Fermi Paradox is basically the question of "why have we never encountered aliens?"... Much like the attacks name, this lyric is raw as Hell.
Considering the vast amount of genocidal or near genocidal creatures Kirby defeats, I would say Fecto Elfilis is one of the most deadly as just for that attacks name shows he’s omnicidal and already done enough of that.
Not only are the vocals amazing but the artwork is glorious as well.
I have no words for just how awestruck I am listening to this song!! The vocals from both Stelyos and the chorus makes me feel like Im ascending and the art is SO PRETTY! Thank you everyone who worked on this masterpiece! ❤️

Or he is mentioning void.
