why do people wear those almost brace like things when lifting? and what are they called? whenever I do crossfit people always wear them but idk what they are!!
things on their wrists = wrist wraps (help with wrist support), things on their knees = knee sleeves (help with blood circulation and support on the knees and protect the tendons).
+callecool111 Europe only did the 225/140 set once, but they needed to do it twice. At 1:06:21, you can see that the workout called for five sets of snatches. Dave Castro noticed their snatch barbells weren't on the final line before the clean barbells, so he walked over and corrected them. That he even noticed that with four teams on the floor is pretty good attention to detail on his part, haha.
I don't wanna take anyting away from her but the only thing that bugs me about this comp is China Cho's squat depth on wod 1... she did really well! smashed it.. it just seems a little suspect.
+Jeremy Neilsen thats not on her, thats on her judge to no rep, if he doesn't to her it means she is hitting the correct depth and no reason to go deeper.
+Jeremy Neilsen I see what you're saying, but I've been both a spectator and judge (at the Regionals level), and I can promise you that what's seen on the floor vs. in the stands vs. on the screen can be vastly different. Being a judge is hard as hell, and with squatting movements especially depth perception can be difficult depending on your angle.
too bad they didn't leave in the one by one intoduction for every athlete at the begining. the crowd in Madrid went crazy when Rich came out. Tia-Claire Toomey looks much prettier with here hair straight. The Europe women seemed too nervouse for the entire event, the men need too work more on their strength, but its ok they are the youngest team they can only get better.
I think it would be interesting for each athlete to have a blood panel and some other tests - just to see if they really are fit - not to check for steroids. What's their heart rate variability? What's their VO2 max? How much protein can they synthesize, actually use in one sitting? Do they eat all organic, are they eating a "paleo" diet, or something else? What are their t-3, t-4 levels? How's their bone density? The tasks they perform - no doubt strenuous, no doubt difficult. But - does that ability come at a cost? If so, what is that cost?
In the war of becoming the fittest man and woman on the planet, bodybuilding has no place in the run but yet a lot of bodybuilders still manage to talk shit to crossfitters, this is just my opinion and nothing personal against either of the sports
+Paul Floyd It's just not the same thing. Bodybuilders don't like crossfit because it's easy to hurt yourself. You don't need to be a pro to see that some of those movements (if done not correctly and by the wrong person) can lead to injuries
+mmokay same as in any other sport, alot of people tear or hurt something while power lifting all the time and not to mention in profesional contact sports. Crossfit is aggressive it's a miracle not getting hurt tbh.
I actually think they should swap out individual Olympic events such as weight lifting and combine them into something like this, way more entertaining to watch.
"Ben, we're gonna tell me you're injured and Rich is gonna fill in and make us some more money. We are really trying to push the "fittest man in history" thing so...you understand. Thanks Ben." I mean c'mon...I love crossfit and I love Rich. He really is awesome. But if this isn't a marketing scandal, I don't know what is. How much have you seen about Ben Smith winning the games?? Pretty crappy
It's just like when Dan Bailey moved to the socal region from the central east. HQ new that in order to push the sport more, then more big name athletes would need to make it to the games. So, knowing the past champion rule no longer applied, they moved one of the, arguably, most popular athletes to SoCal so that he would have a better opportunity to make the games. Thus, maximizing the amount of big names competing. Marketing genius. Of course I could be wrong, but it makes perfect sense. I just don't want crossfit to become about fixing things behind the scenes like nfl, mlb, nba.
+Paul Floyd You act like Crossfit had nothing to do with the past champion clause no longer applying. It's not like that snuck up on them and they had to react....If they're willing to try and move people around to keep up the names getting to the games, why would they have removed the clause that applied moreso in the Central East, and thus would have required them to move Bailey, than any other region? Wouldn't they just have left it alone?
Lifting a 130 lb. stone would feel a lot heavier than lifting a person of the same weight. a stone's mass is concentrated in one area. Plus you have to lift it from the ground which is harder.
Im not gonna say if they are natural or not, because I have no clue, but i know plenty of natural ladies that can lift 130lb stone if not more, and ive seen it with my own eyes, so put the haterade away and zip ya lid.
Well, it is commonly known that many people in Crossfit Games are juicing. Some have failed drug tests. And the tests really aren't that hard to get around even if you are doping. Track athletes have been doing it for decades for instance.
Well like I said. I'm not gonna say they are or are not and not gonna argue that they are all clean but in the case of a woman being able to lift 130 lbs I am gonna argue that you don't need the juice to lift that. I am a competitive strongman and I have never touched the gear so you don't need roids to be strong as shit.
man thanks for uploading this again with fixed audio
Yess!!!! Corssfit is implementing more Strongman!!! A underrated sport that deserves recognition. Thanks Crossfit!!!

Cross Fit! pretty amazing; after all the jokes, best looking women anywhere on the planet I think, are there any old cross fitters?
why do people wear those almost brace like things when lifting? and what are they called? whenever I do crossfit people always wear them but idk what they are!!
things on their wrists = wrist wraps (help with wrist support), things on their knees = knee sleeves (help with blood circulation and support on the knees and protect the tendons).
Or lifting belts? Depends which body part you mean as ^ said
some wear calf sleeves to keep their muscles warm and for good circulation so they don't get tired
Thank god for crossfit!
soo canda and usa got separate teams but Europe got only one
Awesome
Wow, full respect to Crossfit. There is well, there is way!
Can someone explain how the scoring system works ?
Did they ever explain what the hell happened to Europe in even 4 with doing the snatches twice?
+callecool111 Europe only did the 225/140 set once, but they needed to do it twice. At 1:06:21, you can see that the workout called for five sets of snatches. +callecool111 Did they ever explain what the hell happened to real pull ups...
+kcklub Calisthenics...they need some calisthenics!

Whats that scar rich has at 1:26:27 ... looks like he had surgery from a torn pec or something
+Niko Sitaras He talks in his autobiography about a shoulder surgery following his college baseball career.
I don't wanna take anyting away from her but the only thing that bugs me about this comp is China Cho's squat depth on wod 1... she did really well! smashed it.. it just seems a little suspect.

In the war of becoming the fittest man and woman on the planet, bodybuilding has no place in the run but yet a lot of bodybuilders still manage to talk shit to crossfitters, this is just my opinion and nothing personal against either of the sports
i agree
I like when they say, "crossfit isn't a sport." And I'm like, "standing on stage in your underwear is??"
+Paul Floyd It's just not the same thing. Bodybuilders don't like crossfit because it's easy to hurt yourself. You don't need to be a pro to see that some of those movements (if done not correctly and by the wrong person) can lead to injuries

Mayhem
lmfao this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen
Why does it sound like weird middle eastern music during the breaks?
Nuclear Nic Three are similarities between spanish and middle eastern music, due to arabic colonization in the past
I actually think they should swap out individual Olympic events such as weight lifting and combine them into something like this, way more entertaining to watch.

Women lifting 130lb. stones to their shoulder - sure they're natural! LMAO
just because you can't lift your own women doesn't mean she can't lift you ;)
