Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing it completed and how it works for you. Slow and easy walked the tractor out without tearing up the ground, you did good work.
I’m waiting on my RK24 to be built! I was just informed by the Salesman that the backhoe is now being made with a thumb! If I didn’t want the thumb it would be 4 more weeks! Great videos! I look forward to sharing my RK24 uses with everyone.
My RK24 took nearly a month, good luck on a speedy delivery! Be sure to let them know you want RimGuard/BeetJuice installed before it leaves the Tractor Assembly Center!
10esseeTony I didn’t think the 24 could have rim guard? The guy said 4-6 weeks and the. 3 weeks later said they aren’t making the backhoe w/o the thumbs anymore and it would be 4-6 weeks longer if I didn’t want to pay 500$ more for the thumb.
That lead time is outrageous. Just a few months ago the lead time was 2-3 days. RimGuard is just liquid weight, you can put it in a bicycle tire if you felt so inclined. I regularly lift my rear, even with a 420 pound box blade loaded with 3 deep-cycle batteries strapped to it. My local RuralKing's have been out of stock on the RimGuard for months, which is why I recommend you request it now, during the build. I am guessing the RK24 is the most popular model, as my store has not had one on display since mid-June. I blame Mike for this. :D
RK Tractor Guy - Thank you! I get that there isn’t a high demand for rim guard on the 24 but would it be recommended or advantageous? I was almost going to get a 37 due to the double loader lifting capacity, would this help add a little more to the 24? It’s our first tractor. Joe has been wonderful to work with! Kinda crazy buying a tractor sight unseen, haven’t saw one in person and bought it lol
Good to see you leaving that left side out-rigger just above ground level when you turned around, previous videos show how steep that area is, and I personally have put a crease mark on my RK24's seat from all the puckering when mine gets tipsy when I don't (or do) expect it too. :D
I’ve noticed the tires on the RK24 seem to be a bit bigger than all the compacts in its class. Another good selling point in my opinion if what I see is correct. You should point that out sometime. Great vid! Stay dry.
You are fortunate that the utility companies didn’t locate any underground lines in the area where you needed to dig. Thanks goodness for the 811 phone number for getting underground utility lines marked. “Keep on Keeping on!”
I like your videos Mike but on this one, the music was way too loud. It's frustrating to have to keep adjusting the sound based on when you speak and when the music plays. I don't remember your other videos being this way.
Mike im stuck between the rk24 or the RK37 i have a steep driveway and shell rock probably as steep as your one trail not shore what one to get. A lil advise please
Wondering if you'll share just what kind of grass seed you used. A number of years ago I moved into my parents home to take care of my Mom until she passed. One of my sons loves in my house. The yard im in now is all under trees and I can't get grass to grow here, that's why im curious. Thanks
Nice work mike! That’s a chore I have to do in a couple of weeks. All in all how are you liking the RK24? Like to know the ups and downs on it cause I know you use it a lot. They are still pretty new to our area. Any information would be great and thanks for the video!
Mike I see you in the woods all the time so I was just wondering,do you worry about ticks at all? Here in WNY we have a huge problem with them. Do you have any suggestions about how you handle the critters? I've got a couple trees to get down and I really hate dealing with them. Any helpful suggestions would be great. Thanks and keep those videos coming.
Rich - I recently started using Martin's Permethrin 10% - here is a You Tube query for mixing instruction for clothing ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=martin%27s+permethrin+10+mixing+instructions+for+clothing+ you will want to protect any exposed skin while mixing and working with this product even at the diluted strengths. it is safe to wear once your cloths have dried.
Down in North Florida here, and we certainly do have our share of ticks. A while back a friend of mine told me about a product called permethrin. We use it on our socks, trousers and shirts and it seems to do the trick. My wife and I treat our clothing every 3 washings or so along with using Deep Woods Off on our exposed skin. So far this summer I can count on one hand the number of ticks that we have found on ourselves (good for the dog as well). Here is an Amazon link to the stuff that we use (I am by no way affiliated). www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Products-SP657-Permethrin-Repellent/dp/B001ANQVYU/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1534709899&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=permethrin+spray&psc=1 ONE HUGE CAUTION! If you happen to have any cats, it is toxic to them in liquid form. Once the clothing has been treated and dried it is fine. Each treatment lasts for 3 washings. My wife and I try to take every precaution that we can to avoid Lime Disease and all of the other stuff associated with ticks. Stay safe!
Interesting how in the USA rain water falling on rural buildings is not collected & stored. Almost all Australian farm buildings are used to collect rain water.
In a number of states rain barrel usage and rain harvesting is encouraged and in some either illegal or significantly limited to prevent water ecosystem damage. In Indiana there are no state restrictions but in Ohio there are laws regarding "private water systems". A quick reference www.energy.gov/eere/femp/rainwater-harvesting-regulations-map provides some information. Redirecting water runoff to ponds and personal reservoirs can be restricted since it can be detrimental to creeks and small rivers in certain localities and may be subject to additional local jurisdictions.
Douglas Hingsbergen thanks for the information. Funny how the USA is considered to the land of freedom but in reality there seem to be rules about a whole lot of things. How do people living on farms get water for their homes? Are they usually using wells?
Looks Like That Will Solve The Downspout issue!! 👍👊
you make it look easy I know its not your help thire god bless you &all hi hunter
Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing it completed and how it works for you. Slow and easy walked the tractor out without tearing up the ground, you did good work.
Aahhhhhhhh...the pleasure of using a backhoe. Otherwise, lots of hand digging.
Nice way to start my morning. 😊
Thanks, Mike
That little tractor sure beats a shovel. A sub compact tractor is perfect for that type of stuff
Good job on downspout and drain pipe. The little RK was the ideal tool for that project.
Any job around the house that gives the opportunity to fire up the tractor is a good one! Your videos are awesome...thanks for sharing
Thanks Tim
Nice backhoe work! Just subscribed and I'm already learning! Thanks and keep em coming!
This is the exact project my father and I are working on this week.
Great video as always. I’m sitting in the house with rain holding up my tractor time.
Any time you do tractor work, there’s always shovel to go along with it.
Good job. Thanks for your videos
I was surprised you didn’t need to have “1call “come out and mark any hazards. I enjoy your channel

RK Tractor Guy I’m looking forward to the thumb. I only know what I’ve been told. What are your thoughts on the rim guard? Morganton,NC

The SDR-35 is great pipe for the money. Huge improvement over the ADS-3000 triple wall pipe used in prior video. Wise choice.
The rk makes fast work when you need to alright....nice.

Good job Mike.the knats are terrible here this year.how about there.probably all the rain.ticks too!

Lookin good 👍👍

Awesome work! Man I️ need to get a subcompact for projects like this! The shovels getting old fast!
I'd like to see a video on changing attachments. Maybe you have already done one?
I like your videos Mike but on this one, the music was way too loud. It's frustrating to have to keep adjusting the sound based on when you speak and when the music plays. I don't remember your other videos being this way.

Mike, how will you prevent the drain from stopping up with leaves etc? Will you use gutter guard? If so,what type? Thanks.
French drain.
Crazy I just did mine at my house see ya Napa mike

All I can say is this, I Love it!
I know that pipe is made for the exact application you used it in, but I can’t stand using that pipe because it just breaks too easy.
Are the backhoe controls electric over hydraulic so it operates similar to excavator controls?
5:37 A *fiberglass* handled shovel???
UNSUBBED
;-) j.k. nice work, Mike
just sold my case 580 backhoe, if i need one i know were to go. 1119/176
Good vid thanks ......have you had to get parts for any of the rk series yet? Just wondering thanks
No haven't needed anything

What size bucket?
How are you moving the tractor forward from the rear? In neutral and pushing it with the hoe? Hard to tell from the video.
Yes left it in neutral, lift outriggers and loader bucket, push ahead, drop bucket and outriggers
Who makes the RK 24 tractor?

Mike, I'm curious how you move the tractor forward while still sitting on the backhoe.
Pipes are a pain in arse.... I would of just threw down a splash block unless you’re having drainage problems in the basement

Could have stacked the pipes put twigs in & back filled with dirt so bugs & little things could live in them 👎🇬🇧
