I am feeling that brevity of life now at 68 yrs of age. My dad just died, my 70 yr old brother also, I am feeling my age. Thank God I found the Orthodox church and am a catechumen, preparing to be ready to partake of the Holy Sacraments.
I just bought my first house. To get here I endured a lot of pain. I lost my girlfriend, many life long friends, friendships, and more. I have to say that this is all so true. God has plucked all these people from me as of thorns whom influenced me to be undisciplined and poor in spirit. Now that they’re gone I have a place to rest and my assignment becomes clearer. Always trust in the Lord. Glory to His name always.
You did right brother by letting go of that or who would keep you from God. It's not easy because it comes with a price, but it's far better to live a path that honors God then not. I know because I was asked to give up God to stay married. I said no and it came with a huge price, but it also came with the reward of having God with me and never letting Him go. I have been mentally struggling so hard recently, trying so close to get back to church and baptised finally but my mental health gets worse every time I get closer to baptism. I pray for strength to beat my demons and finally get baptised.
May God help you! I can relate to the struggle even just to attend services as a baptised Orthodox. I neglected it for a number of years, then found it a huge fight to start going again. In the end, i just went, "i'm going to Liturgy, come what may". And i did. With God's Help and the support of my wife, we've kept going too. Glory be to God!
The hardest thing about demons is to stop listening to them. You'll always hear them, but if you stop listening to them, then you give yourself a fighting chance. And pray, like your life depends on it, which indeed it does.

I am 23 years old, I have been a Christian for 1 year and a half after 8 years of apostasy and before being an apostate I was never that much into "God's things" as I used to say. I went out there and tried almost everything a human being can try, I drank, I went to parties, I had premarital sex, I idolized celebrities, I worshipped people with money and status... Many other things not even worth mentioning. I realized it was all void. Now when I look at my past, I don't regret doing anything for God in this past 1 year and a half, but I do regret every thing that I did for my self satisfaction or for the satisfaction of others, others that are not even in my life anymore. People, money, fame, all of these come and go but God stays with us. I don't regret choosing God and I chose Him fully, I go to mass, I pray, I read my Bible and teachings of the saints. It is not always easy but at the end of the day, all that matters is if I did good things that bring glory to Jesus, because He Himself gave His life for me.

Hi Father, please pray for me. I had been rebellious for nearly 2 decades. Lord Jesus Had never given up on me. He humbled me in painful way. I am lucky to get opportunity for repentance. Pride and carnal desire led me into temptation. I have struggled to detached myself from all those infinite desires. Yes I let them go. I don't want to slip away from Him.

When I was 25, I was still an atheist and realized that my life of nihilism was completely meaningless and a waste of effort. I realized that I would either have to find a better world view or stop trying. After five years, God finally broke through my pride and brought me to the truth of Christ, but it was in a Protestant environment. Only very recently, I discovered Orthodoxy and am now starting the path to convert. I'm almost 32 years old now, and I am very conscious of the fact that most of those 32 years have been pretty much wasted. I'm very aware that these years may well be half of my life. For all I know, a truck might even take my life before the month ends. But even as I feel the urgency, I still feel the reluctance. I hope stepping into Orthodoxy will equip me with the strength and determination to become truly saved, before it's too late. I can repeat after the saints very sincerely if I say that I haven't even begun to repent.

And it was truly a wake up call for me. God truly shake me for being too attach to my puppy. When all of this are happening I was sulking at my god. I have been mentally struggling so hard recently, trying so close to get back to church and baptised finally but my mental health gets worse every time I get closer to baptism.
I pray for strength to beat my demons and finally get baptised.
May God help you! I can relate to the struggle even just to attend services as a baptised Orthodox. I neglected it for a number of years, then found it a huge fight to start going again. In the end, i just went, "i'm going to Liturgy, come what may". And i did. With God's Help and the support of my wife, we've kept going too. Glory be to God!
The hardest thing about demons is to stop listening to them. You'll always hear them, but if you stop listening to them, then you give yourself a fighting chance. And pray, like your life depends on it, which indeed it does.

I am 23 years old, I have been a Christian for 1 year and a half after 8 years of apostasy and before being an apostate I was never that much into "God's things" as I used to say. I went out there and tried almost everything a human being can try, I drank, I went to parties, I had premarital sex, I idolized celebrities, I worshipped people with money and status... Many other things not even worth mentioning. I realized it was all void. Now when I look at my past, I don't regret doing anything for God in this past 1 year and a half, but I do regret every thing that I did for my self satisfaction or for the satisfaction of others, others that are not even in my life anymore. People, money, fame, all of these come and go but God stays with us. I don't regret choosing God and I chose Him fully, I go to mass, I pray, I read my Bible and teachings of the saints. It is not always easy but at the end of the day, all that matters is if I did good things that bring glory to Jesus, because He Himself gave His life for me.

Pride and carnal desire led me into temptation. I have struggled to detached myself from all those infinite desires. Yes I let them go. I don't want to slip away from Him.

Also, be thankful for the little things in life that ARE blessings. Whisle a tune to praise your creator while you work, or drive every now and then.
The only way to salvation, (to be united with God in heaven for eternity when we die) is by surendering yourself to Jesus. Have faith that Jesus died for our sins & on the 3rd day, rose from the dead! Repent on your decisions to sin again & again as we all do. Just understand that no actions we take in life will grant us salvation. Only Jesus' sacrifice has gifted us a connection to God. I thank my creator every day for waking me up! When I was 25, I was still an atheist and realized that my life of nihilism was completely meaningless and a waste of effort. I realized that I would either have to find a better world view or stop trying. After five years, God finally broke through my pride and brought me to the truth of Christ, but it was in a Protestant environment. Only very recently, I discovered Orthodoxy and am now starting the path to convert. I'm almost 32 years old now, and I am very conscious of the fact that most of those 32 years have been pretty much wasted. I'm very aware that these years may well be half of my life. For all I know, a truck might even take my life before the month ends. But even as I feel the urgency, I still feel the reluctance. I hope stepping into Orthodoxy will equip me with the strength and determination to become truly saved, before it's too late. I can repeat after the saints very sincerely if I say that I haven't even begun to repent.

This video, just explain what I need to hear. What he said is truly true. Because that's what happen to me and my 12 puppies which became 3 only. 9 of them have been taken away by the lord. And it was truly a wake up call for me. God truly shake me for being too attach to my puppy. When all of this are happening I was sulking at my god. But when I do a deep though and rethink and everything. It make me realize god is teaching me that I shouldn't put my hope and effort to this world. Because it is very temporary it will be swept away in a blink of an eyes. Everything in this world that it has to offer is only a lie and temporary. Our real home and place is with the lord.
