    one of the main reasons I bought Prius was because I knew how great the speakers sounded absolutely amazing and I drive uber now sometimes and people don't expect to hear a quality sound in a car like that....major plus. my model is 2010 I m not that rich yet: :''D

      Honestly amazing speakers... I'm reviewing a new Toyota right now which is more expesnive yet manages to have way worse sound 😜

    I want to point out something as a helpful criticism! New subscriber here!
    The CVT in the Prius (and the UX200h, e.g., same driveteain almost) are not actually "CVTs" in the conventional sense. They are "eCVTs" or more accurately MG-PGTs or Motor-Generator Planetary Gear Transmissions. Unlike a conventional CVT that uses a pulley that wears out over time and can't handle large torque, an eCVT is a planetary gearset sandwiched between two "motor-generators" that can function as well... Motors or Generators, depending on whether the car is accelerating or decelerating, or even engine braking. They also are what allows seamless engine starting / stopping, and even more importantly, smooth power splitting between the engine and the battery / motor drive.
    This eCVT can handle far more torque than a normal CVT and like I said before.. while they are much more complex they are still more reliable by an order of magnitude. Just a better design. In fact I wish they would have just made the new corrola hatchback here in the States a straight up hybrid because they gave it a god awful soul sucking shit pulley CVT ... everything else about the car is wonderful too 😭 methinks a Prius is in my future.
    Cheers my friend,
    from Chicago.

    Toyota hybrids use ecvt not the other cvt you are talking about, the mg2 provides continuously variable gear ratios during engine only mode.

    I read that Toyota would be putting Apple Carplay in all Priuses for 2020. Not true?

    • @CarSauce
      @CarSauce  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, it is something they said they would be rolling out this year! I'm not sure when that mighr actually happen though...

      @@CarSauce Hopefully it's already done. I've seen some videos with it displayed. And Toyota shows Apple Carplay and Alexa on all Prius models (Prime and non-Prime) on their webpage under multimedia.

    • @CarSauce
      @CarSauce  4 года назад

      Not yet! But I have seen the Prius Prime sitting in the Toyota head office parking lot so I reckon it's not long till it's here 😀

      @@CarSauce Well I tried to get a Prime with no joy. I've had to buy one from NZ and import it myself. Why??? Back in the 1990s Toyota stole the lead with hybrid/electric technology from the rest of the world and progression in the 2010s to a bigger electric motor and bigger battery is a no brainer but they've decided to go to sleep and give up the lead. I'm so frustrated with them! They've become brain dead.
