That's some awesome power coming out of those guns. Thanks to you I've got my first Lever Gun on lay-away. Just a Henry .22, but a start and fun with the grandkids.
Brother I just got my 50 110 back from Turnbull. I have started loading. Looking forward to my own adventures soon. My 45 70 1886 is a 80's Browning also. I think their great guns too. Never really met a levergun I didn't like. 😁
Another Turnbull brother! 🍻 I brought my 1886 back from them in early February. I had them do all of the usual refinish work along with tang safety delete and re-chamber to 45-90. My rifle being a Takedown, I'm very interested in having them build me a 50-110 front half.
@@Leverguns50 as a matter of fact, I'm about to head to the range and test my second batch of 45-90 using the 300gr Hornady JHP, AA5744 and AA2200 powder. AA5744 has so far performed excellent in terms of accuracy. Today will be my first shots fired using AA2200, it shows promise in the books.
Rooster sounds are music to my ears because it means I'm far away from the city! 😆 Great video on these awesome Rifles. God Bless You And Family my Brother In Life
I figured that drum would bust all to pieces lot of power in them two calibers now great video brother thanks for sharing be safe and GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏
Some time ago, you were somewhere at a longer range shooting the 50. Would be pretty cool if you could fire these guns at longer ranges. Wish the Winchester designs accommodated themselves better for mounting up optics.
I got such a laugh watching that brake drum do its best to get outa Dodge after getting blasted. The way it spun and rolled down the incline was a hoot 😆. Then the big boy 50 made it run for the ditch and water to hide 😂. Great comparison video. Either one would make for a bad day for anything in front of that barrel. Great video. Thank you for your time making these for us to watch.
Great video, really enjoyed watching it. I have some Buffalo Bore loads that come close to your hot 45-70 loads. I haven't shot them yet, but you've given me the courage to try them. Don't know if I could handle the big 50's, I take my hat off to you pard!
I have had a few Winchester Miruko 1886's had to sell some due to medical issues to pay copays but kept the first one 26 in octagon barrel semi pistol grip, the first load I shot that had some authority was Garrett Cartridges super hard cast 415 grain, they no longer load this loading , it was fun and thoroughly enjoyed I have an original 1886 , in 45-90 winchester,.
Jeremy besides rebarreling did MR have to do anything else for the 50-110 conversion? I really like the idea of an action and 3 different caliber barrels, 40-82, 45-70, 50-110 all in a nice cased set. Hunt for camp meat and dinosaurs. That 45-70 might just do it all. Thanks for your work.
Another enjoyable video. I'd like to see you test the .45/70 with cast lead bullets from a Lee 405grain HB mold using black powder. Velocity, penetration into ballistic gel and 100 yard accuracy. I shoot these from my Chiappa 1886 but don't have your testing facilities you're blessed with.
i know you technically load your own ammo for most of your weapons but there is a company out called Garrett cartridges that load whats suppposed to be some pretty hot ammo. i know they load 45-70s but they might load up some 50-110 if you ask ,that is if you really want something warm to shoot
The .50-110 was called an Express because of the big powder charge and light bullet. The .50-100 was more the big game or Buffalo Gun loading. Another very interesting loading used in the 1886 was the .40-82. The .50-100 Was the repeating rifle equivalent to the Sharps Big 50 or .50-90. the .50-100 was a little late to be a true Buffalo Cartridge as most of them had been killed off before 1886.
@ Levergun 50 your shoulder must be tough a steel butt pad is tough to shoot when flat but the curved one has to really dig in. My question is what is the original twist rates of the 50-100 and the 50-110. In my research it said that both cartridges were the same length both the 50-100 had a faster twist rate to stabilize he heavier bullets better and that like you said 50-110 original load was a 300gr bullet?
You are correct the cartridge length is the same they originally had a 300 grain bullet at 350 grain bullet and a 450 grain bullet, and they designated the cartridge as 50-110 , 50-105 and 50-100 but from what I’ve read in Winchester lever legacy they all had a one in 54 twist rate, at least his examples. did, but I’ve read in Winchester advertisement that the heavier bullets required a faster twist rate
I would like to see you do a test between .357 mag out of maybe a 20in bbl compared to 30-30. I think they are much much closer than people think in power. The 30-30 has a better sectional density and bc but at 50yds it isn't gonna matter much.
Great video !! Question, I noticed that the Hawk did not have a cannelure . When I order From Hawk I always have i them add the cannelure on the 300 gr. for my 1886 and 1876 both 50 ex. Do they not but it on the 350 gr or you prefer them that way ? Just wondering. Thanks for the video !!
That’s pretty hot for 45-70, I usually only get about 2640 out of my 45-90 so that 45-70s got to be smoking, of course, I should probably try a different powder
50 cal is so fat, those aren't much more conical than a round ball. Those things always impress me. Brake drums are tough, but sure no match to those cannons!
Thank you I know you’re probably more interested in black powder and I’ll come up with some more loads with that too, I know you’re super busy right now but if you slow down a little bit I’m still interested in getting a holster from you, no hurry

Y’all are gonna love it
Really good choice.
A beautiful pair of levers!
Thank you
Thanks for another great video Jeremy! I love hearing your chickens in the background. One of the many things about your videos that make me smile 🙂
Thank you, The roosters are always ready to holler for you
I have a Chiappa 1886 in 45 70. love lever guns.

It’s about time you get in and get one😂😂
When you hit that drum with the 50 it just left the country.
Interesting as always. I don't have any preference for future videos. Just keep shooting and I will keep watching.

Yes and I have made videos on them too
