I see too many uninformed people complaining about "muh forests"
Finlands forests grow each year yet we still stay as one of Europes top wood importers. Our air is cleanest out of any country. Our country is nearly 80% forest to this date and consists of 10% out of all European woodlands.
Please do not tell us how to handle our forests.
Really does not help since 98% of them are economic forests with only minimal amounts of biodiversity.

The timber used is cross laminated timber or glu laminated, much stronger than standard timber, a detail missed here,✌️❤️🇬🇧

I think the biggest risk is fire. If the apartments can be effectively isolated from each other, this will work, I'd say. There's a long know how against rotting in Finnish building traditions. Like they showed, the ground levels (at least in the complex higher buildings) are made of concrete - and it's the ground level were the moisture is the major issue.

Hi gays! I’m interested in working with those timber building. Where can i apply for any like this jobs in Finland? I’m Construction Engineering and i did training for glue laminated timber for beams and columns in Wisconsin, USA.

Liked the build - timber warping despite the drying out in industrial ovens is a major possibility. The air full of water molecules. Place it under a tarp or under roof in a building not @ lick up level and that timber is sucking in moisture. Sure some builder can muscle them back in with a nail gun but hell, force under pressure must equal timbers splitting through and leaving the integrity of the structure eventually.
Oh and the cost of living example you chose - 3 courses basic fare? Damn Daniel! (sorry 90s phrase stuck in my head).
Try Australia for cost. If you sit inside yr steel frame squalor only leaving to go to work and never eat out you may be able to afford min legal luxuries BUT anything else is wishful thinking.

The Finnish Forest Act (law) requires all cut down forests to be replaced by newly planted ones. Twice is a bit of a stretch as over three thirds of Finland is covered by forests already. Twice simply wouldn't fit anywhere :) But if talking in terms of number of trees, yeah generally around 2000 small trees are planted in the place of the 300-500 (depending on tree species) big ones that are felled per hectare.

To me, wood = trees = oxygen. Don't cut trees. We need them.
Finlands policy is to plant 2 trees for every tree cut down. We have one of the worlds most healthiest wood industries regarding how each year we have more trees and still are one of Europes top wood industries. And many of these trees are from controlled farms and not from wild.

Trees get replanted. Still, it's not the number of trees that matter, it's the amount of growth. When you cut down an old tree and plant a new one, you get more growth, and therefore more oxygen. Also, using wood to build things is good, because the carbon is tied into the build and not released back into the atmosphere.

The amount of wood used makes the buildings almost resistant against fire.
My town has almost burned down thrice in its 400 years.
Still centre of it is full of wooden buildings. This year only one building has burned down so far and they are rebuilding it.
