    OMG I had that case with a 1200 and mediator and EVERYTHING else that would plug into it. Voodoo, SB, squirrel, 060, etc etc. So many memories and ££ in it.

    Birdseed of the GGFZ3 was done at the factory. I soldered the RAMs and the CPLD. In fact, that card was part of my first ever factory assembly order. Thanks again for that special gift Chris.

    That is a cool tower for the 4000. Nicer IMO than the 4KD case for expansion and I assume airflow. I have not seen any other videos on this case, so this video is pretty cool. Kavanoz is great. I do miss the sound of spinning rust. Bought 15K SCSI drives and 4091's for my machines. Overkill yes. Keep pumping out the videos.

    Hello Chris, great job and nice to see you again. Steven work on a Amiga 3000 and fight with the harddisk. It gives some issues. The customer bring this Amiga to us. Amigas are a way of life. Greetings from Steven from the Netherlands

    Mediators add a whole new level of pain in the arse. I have one on my 4000D and one on my 4000T. Wait until you add a PPC card for maximum Mediator insanity.

      I Still have the bus board installed but the mediator is in a box at the moment. Using a ZZ9000 for less pain. PPC no longer an issue as it finally kicked the bucket. Transplanted the 060 to a BFG.

      That's so true. But when it starts working with PPC added, that's a whole new level of fun.

    Wow! Another day and another video upload by Dr Chris! Is it Christmas!? 🤣👍🏻 As for the mediator setup. It depends on the revision of the mediator. If you have a low Mediator revision, chances are it doesn’t support MMCD drivers. Best thing to do, is P96 install first, then run the MMCD CD to install and setup drivers. Remember that Elbox have updates on their website for pci.library. Also make sure you run the Medconfig software afterwards as this sets up parameters for Graphics, Network, Sound etc.. Oh and use Ghostmix and NOT the built in mixer that Elbox provide. Even Elbox themselves use Ghostmix 🤷🏻‍♂️ Cheers 🍻

    I feel pretty stupid for not picking up an A4000 5 years ago when they were still well under $1000 and far more plentiful. Only way I’ll ever see one is watching Dr Chris work on them!

    Chris, put a switch on some DuPont leads, and run that jumper for the external floppy on the back of the case.

    The mediator is a swine for slot order - it likes to initialise first (May just be large address range cards). The zorro slots are numbered on the silk screening and auto detect is in the slot number order. My system didn't like the ZZ9000 in a slot (1) before the mediator (2). I moved it down a slot (3) so the slot number was after the mediator one. Slot order from top to the bottom mediator slot is 1, 3, 7, 4, 5, 6, 2. So in my case the ZZ9000 and mediator works with the ZZ9K in slot number 3 (second from the top). My Elbox IDE zorro card works fine in slot 1. The jumpers on my mediator bridge card are:
    Master = closed
    WinSize = open
    Swap Config = open
    However if yours work - leave them.
    The bridge chips can run hot and expire so some airflow over them may help.

    My strongest argument against using a HDD is the heat it generates, besides with it 's noise (ok, recent ones are really quiet, but still...) in a case as heavily occupied as that Power Tower I'd choose a ZuluSCSI for example, or an IDE SSD as those would cause less extra heat and air circulation is critical, especially with the case of a CSPPC-powered config.

    I've found from a little asking around that most of the standoff lengths are all wrong, not matter which elbox version you get.

      so what is correct length? I do have a similar problem with cards popping out...

    Mediator setup is and has been since day one the biggest pain in the ass! I have my setup backed up in no less than three places, lol. As for SoundBlaster you need to be sure 100% its NOT the model number Dell made. if it is, even though its the same as the creative it will not work.

    The funny yet also annoying thing with the daughterboard is the diversity of their mounting holes' positions. I have 3 different boards, none can be fitted without drilling holes matching to them.

    It’s 1994 in your basement, unless you live in Commiefornia you don’t have broadband so I thoroughly expect you to be using a modulator demodulator and a POTS line for internet connectivity.
    Also why am I not hearing Nine Inch Nails or Nirvana 😂
