Inisheer (ou Inis Oirr) est la plus petite des îles d'Aran, dans la baie de Galway, en Irlande. Pour ce duo, ma harpe est accompagnée d'un low whistle (joué par mon père qui a commencé l'apprentissage de cet instrument il y a 2 ans). Nous avons filmé cette chanson traditionnelle irlandaise composée par Thomas Walsh au lever du soleil près d'un cimetière de bateaux.

Inisheer (or Inis Oirr) is the smallest and most eastern of the three Aran Islands in Galway Bay, Ireland. For this duet, my harp is accompanied by a low whistle (played by my father who has learned this instrument for 2 years so we can play together). We filmed this traditional irish folk song composed by Thomas Walsh next to a ship graveyard at the sunrise.

Nice post! Yes, there's indescribable aspects Irish music and especially Harp music.In the 1600s, England banned the playing of the harp and if you were caught it was a death sentence.

The harper was central to the culture, every chieftain's court maintained a harper who was held in high esteem. The Cromwell invasion sanctioned this formally, perpetrated an ethnic cleansing on a massive scale, resulted in a genocide where some estimate nearly 70% of the native Irish population perished.

Even though I love harp music (I have two) and my sister played flute for years, I have a decidedly curious love of this video because of the setting. Decades ago, I galley-chefed on the Great Lakes to work my way through art school, and was on the Edmund Fitzgerald the season before it went down. I used to do two on/two off and went back to art school that season. Quite literally, my art persuits saved my life. I love this video with an odd passion!
