How To: Convert Wired Android Auto To Wireless! | Carlinkit 4.0

- In this video, I show you one of the many wireless adapters out there that allow you to use Wireless Android Auto instead of the wired version. Because you no longer have to plug in to use Android Auto, you can use wireless phone chargers if your vehicle is equipped. Overall, there are many benefits but the main one is ditching the cord.

Some RUclipsrs drone along talking nonsense before actually showing how to set this up. You get to it straight away which is great.
We try our best to be concise! Thanks for the comment.
Nice video. How quick is the transition when you select reverse gear for the car to show the reverse cam so the switch from Android Auto to reverse cam and then back to Android Auto once first gear is selected? This question is for carlinkit 4.0
Great Video. With the devices you have tested, what would you recommend? I like this one, but the Ottocast also seems good value.
My favorite is the Motorola MA1 for Android. I really don't use CarPlay as that is not my primary phone.
@@CarsMadeSimple I'm an Android user myself - thank you for the recommendation
Hi please can you help me with,my dab stereo in my car its a pioneer dab with satnav and a usb port.i was wondering if i allways have plug the carlin into the usb or can use it from the cig lighter to power it up and chare my phone up.
Does the map work while driving. Would of been nice to see this live. Wondering if it has buffering. Thx.
Yes, this functions exactly the same while parked as it does driving. It works very well with very minor delay at times depending on cell signal.
I've got a 2017 Renault Zoe with Android auto and the device doesn't broadcast Bluetooth signal just WiFi, any ideas?
Question so this uses carplay to immolate to Android Auto? It goes thru carplay not directly to android auto? Does it also work with Aftermarket Android Radio running Android 10?
Yes that's correct. It should work with all radio's as long as they have wired Carplay. I have not tried it on an aftermarket radio but I would think as long as it has Carplay, it should work.
Hello Bro Is Google assitant getting fired and working normally from car's button
Do I need to have cellular service or "hot spot" to utilize the functions as if they were used on my phone? Thanks
No, this uses Wi-Fi connection via your phone and Bluetooth to initiate the connection. You will need Data to use streaming of music and such if you are driving around.
Is your phone still able to connect to tye cars telematics for making and receiving calls through the vehicle.
Yes!
Hi Thanks for your video on the carlinKit 4. Can you tell me the mobile you are using. I have a Samsung S8+ mobile and I seem not to make make contact, my mobile works well with wired conection. The box it came in says must be android 10 + mobile. Thanks for your help in advice. Ray ..
This video I would have been using a Pixel 6.
Hello can you access RUclips with this setup?
Have an android, just bought this. Hate it doesn't connect with android auto it needs to connect through a hacked apple car play. But the big issue is it needs to be connected to WIFI and Bluetooth. Any way around that? I cant use cars wifi for data or other hotspots cuz this device is tying it up and if I disconnect wifi it stops working. Do you know what I could do or is there one that only needs Bluetooth?
All of these adapters use a dedicated Wi-Fi connection that is initiated through Bluetooth as Bluetooth alone doesn't have high enough data transfer speeds for this to work properly.
@@CarsMadeSimple Crap, guess I'm back to wired. Thanks for the reply. Are there any that actually use Android auto or are they all hacked through apple car play? all I see when I look at the set up just use apple car play.
Motorola MA1 is the one I use personally. It uses AA connection through the car and has been very reliable.
@@CarsMadeSimple I had the MA1 and sent it back. It would never stay connected when traveling. It would disconnect multiple times during my 45 minute drive every day.

Was wondering if your google voice works with this? I have the exact same product but when I try to use voice commands nothing gets registered. Normal voice calls works fine though.
The Google search function should work with Android Auto. You may have to hold down the voice command button the steering wheel or push it on screen to activate. If it's just not picking up your voice, you may have to check the settings in Android Auto and the box itself.
Does it work with your steering wheel remote?
Yes, the steering wheel controls still work.
My carlink has a very bad wide stretched screen. How do I fix this
Disable full screen Android Auto and it should format with less stretch.
I have this and it keeps flickering every 10 seconds or so
Have you been able to get it to work with Android Auto's split screen (not Hyundai's)? With wired, I turned split screen off and it defaults to letting me have my own map app and music app displayed at the same time, but when I use this adapter, it now only does one app in full screen. Any idea how to make the non-Hyundai split screen work?
Which vehicle specifically?
@@CarsMadeSimple A 2023 Hyundai Sonata SEL
What about the usb-a port? Is it possible to connect a pendrive to it for listening MP3 for example?
I am not sure exactly. You could try it to see if it would work or simply unplug the adapter to use the stock USB port.
I tried this and it did not work. Car does not recognise it as a usb whilst the wireless adaptor is plugged in.
Hi. Thank you for the Video. I have a 2018 November Hyundai Elantra that comes with a Factory installed Wired Android Auto, but I'm unable to connect and get it to work with my carlinkit 4.0 that i received as it does not detect it? Do you any any suggestions as to why or how I could get it to work? Thank You.
Does it not detect it at all or give an error shortly after detecting it? I had to change one setting like I mentioned in the video/description to get this one to not error. Also make sure you are plugging it into the correct USB port if you have more than one.
Hi. It does not detect at all. Very strange, but works well wired to my Samsung Note 10.
Did you turn off the wifi and Bluetooth on your phone before you plugged in the dongle?
@@jpbeauman9847 Its both switched on. Thanks
C
Does it work for both android and carplay?
This one is only for Android
Can you send me the link please?
hello. what settings do i need to enter to split the screen as a preview?
Split screen on the Hyundai screen? It would be in the same display menu on the Hyundai infotainment system as the Android Auto/Apple Carplay settings.
@@CarsMadeSimple i tried it on a new santaf, carlinkit 4.0 just stretches the screen and it looks terrible) have you tried installing carlinkit on a restyled version?
You need to go into the settings on the Hyundai infotainment and enable split screen. I showed this exact adapter on the 2023 Santa Fe at the end of the video both stretched and split screen. 6:23
@@CarsMadeSimple what resolution did you change to? my screen gets very stretched when i set it to 1920
You don't need to change the resolution. Just check the box for split screen in the Hyundai menu.
Do i need to install any app on phone first ?
It is not required.
dose it needs wifi conection too?
Just between this and your phone.
Tried one of these but the issue I found is that it does not auto reconnect next time you use the car unless you disable the car bluetooth connection. If I disconnect the car bluetooth I lose a lot of other functionality and all the calls go through the android auto which is not as clear as the bluetooth link between the car system and my phone.
Hmm that is weird. Every adapter I have used automatically connects. You may have to set priority in your phone or typically there is multi-connection support by phones these days.
Can i install the carlinkit in my w204 2014?
I don't believe so as the first cars to receive Carplay were 2015MY or newer. There were a couple 2014 model from Ferrari and Kia.
Do you know if this dongle works on BMW F10, 5 series ?
If it has built in Carplay, yes.
@@CarsMadeSimple if my car has built-in carplay why I need this dongle for? Should this dongle is a plugin carplay for the car that doesn't have carplay built in? I'm confused.
@@phieudutube It makes Wired Carplay Wireless Carplay.
With the pricing of this adaptor ,one can get a budget Android spare phone , ridiculous pricing for a dongle
I never thought of that 🤦🏾♂️😂
Thks, your video is very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Just got mine 4.0 works in my 2019 RAV4 but not all steering wheel controls seem to work like hang up and hey google button ? So far but hey I'm just learning
Interesting. I know sometimes you have to hold the voice command button to activate Google Voice Search on the adapter. I am not sure about the hang up and phone button.
Thank you
You're welcome!
Horrible connection. Dont buy it
Can you screen mirror, watch Netflix youtube ??
