i cant believe how much of my precious time has been wasted coming up against brick wall when going through the process of setting this damn launchpad mini up for live 10 lite, ive seen so many youtube clip and its always been the same thing. some expertly crafted tutorial that gets me no where when i could have been doing something productive instead. thankyou thankyou thankyou. if only every tutorial was as productive as this one. i was like; you want me to downlaoud what? but im using it and its working....for the first time in years. Zack is my youngest son and has never been in a public video before... does not even have social media account. He does not go in for any of the hype and prefers to lurk. I convinced him that we should shoot a video and share with the world that which took him a considerable amount of research and time to figure out. He really likes helping people, but hated the video. Not because of the content, but because he does not like the recording of himself. I often have to remind him about all the folks that he has helped. For that, he is thankful.

Hey bro best tutorial on RUclips thank you but I have one question where do you get your sound files from?
You can get just about anything you want from RUclips. Use the .exe install with your command prompt and get what you need. Yeah, there is also a video that teaches you how to set that up. "command prompt download RUclips videos" ...of course, I should also tell you that you shouldn't download other peoples stuff. :-D

loved the video and managed to get my launchpad setup however when i use it my friends over discord can’t hear it, is there any way to fix this?

Hello there. I hope I may be of assistance. On Discord on the bottom left side there should be 3 buttons looking like a microphone, headphones, and a gear. Click on the gear which will bring you to your Discord settings. Underneath "APP SETTINGS" select the first option for "Voice & Video." At the top you will see two boxes for your Input and output devices for Discord. All you should need to do is go into the Input and select the Cable Output as your input.
Keep in mind however that this particular method can't use your own voice and the soundboard at the same time. It's one or the other depending on which input you use. There are other methods to be able to have both at the same time; however that's more complicated and I haven't figured that part out myself. I can put you in touch with a Discord server that actively uses Soundboards and has a "Soundboard-Help" section for all sorts of soundboard related problems and solutions. discord.gg/Qhmmme

Just watch the tutorial... You'll get there. Launch pads are coming with little differences, here and there.

I seem to have some problems whenever I do the step where you drag the sound in the audio 1 i dont get the button to light up on my launchpad mini
Does the launch pad play any of those audio files? I'm just wondering if all your drivers are up to date, or if you are trying to load an extension file that is not supported. ???
great video but when i go into preferences in the link MIDI section it doesn't let me select a input. do you know a fix?
You followed all the steps in the video and your launchpad is plugged in via the cable? Hmmm... try a re-installation. So the MIDI section is greyed out, as if the button is inactive (non-selectable)?

I don't know how you got two windows open.I don't know how to get and move folders and make new folders for ableton live icon mine was in the computer it just didnt open afer restarting my computer and did not come up on the home screen and how do you get audio vb software.It is hard to move drag and drop files or beats then hit on my launch a pad or computer.How do you make the lights different colors thanks.I need lauchpad for dummies lol.
If you have to pause the video or go back to see how it is done, please do that. If you are having troubles with how to open a new folder, or zipped files, even after watching this tutorial, you will need to do a search for those steps separately on RUclips. Best of luck!
HELLO < was trying this but im afraid there is no zip file for MAC only dmg. I can"t use this tutorial for mac right?

How to do on Windows 10??? I downloaded VB Cable, restarted, set Ableton settings to those in the video... am only having trouble with the "Control Panel" part. Windows 10 has no Control Panel, only "Sound Settings." Please help.
This set up should work on windows 10... maybe there is an update that changing things a little. What is your windows 10 version?

How to make that friends would here the sound your playing on your ableton/sounboard? Because I did everything step-by-step it still doesn't work.
What you play should be coming across to your friends, not just you, if everything was set up correctly. I know it’s complicated to get it started.

I presume you mean the step in Ableton when selecting the Audio Output Device. I'm not sure why the option to select VB Cable wouldn't appear. I'm by far not an expert at this. However, my suggestion is to first restart your computer and check to see if the selection for VB Cable appears. If it does not, then completely uninstall VB Cable and then reinstall with the same instructions provided in the video. I hope that you're able to get it set up and working.
Thank you Spy 007... I have also heard recently that with some new Windows updates, it can throw a monkey wrench into the device and cause it not to work. Thanks, Microsoft.

Hey ! Unfortunately I cannot fix my launchpad mini up. I don't really understand.
When I connect it to my laptop, my launchpad does a lot of crazy lights like in circles form
But it seems Abletone doesn't recognize it.
I have any control.

I'm not sure why VB Cable wouldn't show up in your audio options. If you can, can you tell me the steps to took until that point? Then I might be able to help further analyze the problem.
I have a launchpad mini but somehow my buttons are not mapped when I use ableton live 10, I have to map the buttons individually and they don't light up
Ensure all your drivers are up to date. This might be the issue, if you have followed the instructions to the letter.
How do I unzip ableton i unzipped the vb cable but ableton is still zipped 😣
Opening zipped files in a new window usually does the trick.
Are you able to connect the launch pad to a console? if you can, could you maybe do a video on it?
This was the one and only video I have on the Launchpad. I don't have a console to even try it... sorry.

hey live wont let me save anything. I can save set or anything because I bought this board off of a friend who never opened it and took the instructions out back in 2016. I tried registering it but idk the number.pls help
That is a tough one. So, lost registration code? Maybe you can contact LaunchPad and give them the serial number off the device and they could get you a number?

Hey! Nice video. I did every single step but still cant manage to get it to work. When i put my sound effect in. My launchpad doesnt update, to show the button. Also it still doesnt play through discord. Any way i could get help?
I haven't encountered the problem with the Luanchpad not updating when a file has been entered. I can only assume what may be the cause of it.
On the top row of your Launchpad there are numbered circles labeled #1-8.
I suggest pressing #5. This enables a sort of "Session Mode" where you can play your sound files. Any other of the circles I'm not exactly sure about what they do. There is an Ableton video for the specifics of the Launchpad series and their mechanics. I suggest looking at that if this does not solve your problem.
The solution for playing through Discord is this:
When you open up Discord, in the bottom left next to your user profile image and status, there are three buttons, a mic, headphones, and a gear.
Click on the gear and it will bring you to your Discord Settings.
Under App Settings there should be "Voice & Video" Settings.
Click there and at the very top of "Voice Settings" you should see "Input Device" and "Output Device"
For your "Input device" select the "CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)"
And "Output Device" should just be through your speakers as what is normal.
Hopefully these should help you in your endeavors and I wish you the best of luck!

Unfortunately I do not know how exactly to fix that problem. As far as I am aware, using this method can only use the Soundboard or the Mic one at a time or else this happens. I have heard of another way to have your Soundboard and mic running at the same time with no issues; however, I am not aware of what this method is. If I or anyone else finds a method to this, I'll be sure to add it in here.

You see those round buttons at the top of the Launchpad labeled 1-8? Press #5. This will take you into "Session Mode" and you'll be able to see your launchpad light up according to the files you have in place and you can use them.

I prefer the mk2 in my opinion coz the lights are brighter and you can feel that the perfomance is better

I think it either has something loaded in it or not. That is what controls the color... but I have not used this in years.
When I go to control panel/sound, there are onlu playback, recording, sounds, communications options, no listen. Can you help me?

I recommend going back through the tutorial to see if you have missed a step. Of course, there are updates that come out that may also change things up. I'll have my resident expert get back with you tomorrow. Cool?

@@imfresh5440 Ah, I believe I know which part you are talking about. You're at the part with going into Ableton, then Preferences, to Link MIDI, and then the input for the device you're using correct? If so, then I believe that you have to have your soundboard plugged into your computer before it will show up as an option.

If you have followed all the directions, make sure you have updated drivers... That seems to be the most problem. However, when an update in Windows occurs, something this throws a monkey wrench into the works and causes problems as well. Zack is willing to shot an updated video, but neither one of us knows when we can make that happen.

If you mean to have a soundboard of your own voice, then all you need to do is record your voice into a sound file and then place the file into the software as shown.

If memory serves, Chrome Book is just for internet access. I don't think it has an operating system like a traditional computer would. I could be wrong...

am i the only one getting a massive amount of latency? i hit the button and it doesnt actually play through my mic for over a second
Did you have a seconds worth of dead air before the recording played with the sound file that you are using? Or is it the same with all the recordings?

@@tcopeful there is a built-in delay on the launchpad that can be turned off. Look at the top left area of the program and find "options." Click on OPTIONS; look for "delay compensation" ...un-check the box and it will play instantly. See if that fixes it. I'll keep looking and trying a few more things to see if i can find anything else that might be causing the problem. Let me know if that fixes it, please.
Top left corner of the program... words and numbers in boxes... the right-most box there should be some "timings" that look like 8 bars, 4 bars, 2 bars, etc... choose the option for "none" which is no delay.

Lost my time watching this clip. Its extremely incomplete: How to use the User 1&2 buttons and also the Mix mode???

Try updating your drivers and follow the directions again.
Not trying to be a hater but a lot of the things you were saying were not really true... the that really doesnt make sense is when you said that it is a compact version of the pro which is not true considering an infanite amount of possibilitys the pro has... for example the wide color range that the pro can emit versus the very low color range that the mini emits. Not only that but the launchpad pro is made up of much more that just that which I'm sure I don't need to call out cause you should know... All in all they are almost completely different launchpads... Thats at least my opinion... Lastly it much more like the original launchpad... In my opinion...

It was a generalized statement, much like saying "almost completely different." This video is not about the Pro version which does sound pretty cool, by the way. Mainly, it's an install and use video, which Launchpad (at the time of making of this video) did an extremely poor job of explaining how to get the thing to function on a PC. Maybe they made it easer on the Pro version? Perhaps you could speak to that point?
